Amatara Welleisure Resort

This was, without question, one of the most disappointing luxury hotel experiences I’ve had. A property can have beautiful views, but if the service, food, and attention to detail are this poor, it simply does not deserve a 5-star rating.

Housekeeping was unbelievably slow. Even during low season, requesting room cleaning meant waiting around three hours before anyone showed up. For a hotel at this price point, that’s unacceptable.

The laundry service was equally frustrating. Guests are told that laundry must be submitted by 10:00 a.m. to receive it back the same day. The problem is that no one even came to collect my laundry until past 10, making the hotel’s own policy meaningless.

The food was, unfortunately, terrible. Most dishes were completely bland, and instead of seasoning them properly, they seemed to compensate by adding excessive amounts of salt. At breakfast, my order was prepared incorrectly, and the omelette was loaded with so much pepper that it was nearly inedible.

To make matters worse, I found a hair in my food. Finding hair in a meal at any restaurant is unacceptable, but at a supposed luxury resort, it’s inexcusable. The hotel’s response was to offer a discount of only 300 THB, which felt completely inadequate given the seriousness of the issue.

The restaurant service was also nowhere near 5-star standards. The waitstaff constantly rushed guests. More than once, I wasn’t even seated before someone was standing over me asking what I wanted to order. I literally hadn’t even had one second to sit down, look around, or open the menu before being pressured to decide. It made every meal feel rushed instead of relaxing.

Speaking of the menu, it looked like it had been generated by AI without any proper editing. It contained awkward wording, inconsistent descriptions, and read as though no one had taken the time to proofread it. For a luxury hotel, this level of carelessness reflects poorly on the overall experience.

The room itself also fell short. The curtains felt cheap and low quality rather than luxurious, and several of the light switches didn’t function properly, making simple things like controlling the room lighting unnecessarily frustrating.

Overall, this hotel markets itself as a luxury 5-star property, but it fails to deliver in the areas that matter most: service, food quality, attention to detail, and guest experience. Between the painfully slow housekeeping, unreliable laundry service, poor restaurant experience, subpar food, finding hair in my meal, poorly prepared breakfast, cheap room finishes, malfunctioning light switches, and unprofessional AI-generated menus, I left feeling that the hotel prioritizes appearance over quality. I would not recommend staying here unless significant improvements are made.

My stay here at Amatara was exceptional I would like to thank Top who was an amazing staff he made my stay Extra enjoyable. Service is 100/100. I enjoyed every part of my stay and truly do miss this hotel. Best hotel in Phuket amazing staff and great food I will be back definitely best experience ever!!!!! Thank you all for a wonderful stay
