Waldorf Astoria Cancun

We stayed at The Waldorf Astoria September 12-17th. We were looking to relax and take some time together as a couple. This was the perfect time/place for us. It's the off-season, and The Waldorf was very, very quiet. We were immediately greeted by the bellboy, Antonio, who later helped in getting us medicine that I mistakenly forgot to pack.

The lobby bar is perfect for a stop before dinner. We loved going here and enjoying a cocktail and the amazing olives included in the complimentary bar snack plate. Sebastian was so sweet and attentive. He and the bartender were able to come up with a great concoction for my sore throat and it was delicious!

They had 1 restaurant for breakfast, 2 for lunch, and 2 open for dinner. We had just come from another neighboring resort, Atelier. The food was good there, but the food at Waldorf is, of course, on another level...but you pay for it! Breakfast at Chai was amazing...I'm dreaming of their Eggs Benedict as I write this! Brando greeted us every morning by name and was very friendly. We are Hilton Diamond members, so breakfast (around $120 per couple a la carte) was complimentary!
Dinner at both restaurants (Jai and Malpeque) are AMAZING! The food is some of the best we've ever had. I recommend trying the tasting menu at Malpeque. I don't care for tuna and their tuna on crispy rice was to die for!
Jai had some amazing Mexican food - duh! ;) We enjoyed the quesabirria, and the red velvet churros are A MUST! Jordio at Jai was an Amazing waiter! He was so sweet in explaining what was in each dish...down to the ingredients in some of their amazing sauces.

After breakfast each day, we chose to hang out at the pool. Omar was great at setting us up each day in our cabana (free, but you do pay for the cabanas closer to the ocean. :/).

This was the perfect getaway and one that we will return to next time we need to do nothing but sit by the pool!

My stay at Waldorf Astoria Cancun was such a beautiful experience. The property is absolutely beautiful, exceptionally clean, and very peaceful. I had a gorgeous ocean view from my room, which made the experience even more special.

The Waldorf is very secluded, which I actually enjoyed. Once you enter the property, it’s about a 10-minute drive from the entrance to the actual hotel, so it feels very private and removed from the hustle and bustle of Cancun. If you want to leave the property, you’ll need transportation because there really isn’t anything within easy walking distance. Once you exit the gates, you’re right by the highway. For me, the seclusion was part of the appeal, but it’s definitely something to know when planning your stay.

From the moment I walked into the lobby, I felt welcomed. Fernando and Marie greeted me when I arrived, and Marie personally showed me to my room and took the time to explain everything. That first interaction really set the tone for my stay.

One of my favorite parts of the trip was Ja’o. I ate there several times, and Jorge was my server each time. He was wonderful—so personable, attentive, and helpful with his recommendations. And the food was SO good! The blackened sea bass tacos were delicious, but the pork shank was definitely my favorite. I’m still thinking about it!

Breakfast at Chaya was also really good. I actually enjoyed that there wasn’t a buffet and that breakfast was served à la carte. Everything felt fresh and well prepared.

The staff throughout the property were incredibly friendly and personable. I visited during low season, which meant I had my pick of cabanas at the beautiful pool, and I definitely took advantage of that! It was the perfect place to relax.

I also took a Pilates class, and the instructor was extremely knowledgeable. I really appreciated having that wellness experience as part of my stay.

One small moment that really stood out to me was when I needed a USB-C port/plug. One of the male staff members actually walked with me to the Hilton store to help me find one. I’m sorry I don’t remember his name, but I definitely remember the gesture—and the great conversation we had along the way. It was such a simple thing, but it says a lot about the level of service I experienced.

And that’s really what made this stay so special—the people. No matter what I asked for, the staff went above and beyond to make it happen. There was a genuine feeling that they wanted me to have a great stay, not simply that they were doing their jobs.

A very special shout-out to Fernando, Marie, Sergio, and Jorge. Each of you contributed to making my stay such a memorable and exceptional experience. And to the gentleman who walked with me to the Hilton store—thank you, too! I may not remember your name, but I certainly remember your kindness.

I came to relax and enjoy Cancun, and I left with some wonderful memories. I would absolutely love to return. ❤️
