Overrated and too expensive
The location is nice. The beach is beautiful But it is WAY OVERPRICED! There are hidden fees. It's a cashless resort so they make you use your credit card but then they charge you taxes on it. They will ask you for your room number, so they can charge you an additional tax. When we checked out we had an additional $150 worth of taxes. The food is horrible. We got sick from it. Even the staff said that the food is not good. I am a timeshare owner and I will never go back there again.
Beautiful resort! Great time in Cancun.
This resort was really nice! I was in room 251 building 2, 5th floor with a great view of the ocean and pool. Room was clean with all the amenities you would want in a studio apartment setting. The bed was soft and comfortable. The spa tub was awesome, the water was hot, filled up quickly. It was perfect for soaking after a day of walking. The pool temperature was perfect. The beach was perfect. My only complaint was the food. Its not an all inclusive dining but you get a 50$ credit each day and most dinners were more than 50$. Food taste wasn't to my liking, I didn't even enjoy the breakfast. I didn't partake in any resort activities so I can't comment on that. I found the halls were quiet and clear. The staff were all nice. The location was perfect, you can walk across the street to the mall. Easy to take the bus to downtown area.

Great Location, But Dine Off Site
My in-laws own multiple Marriott timeshares so they traded in their weeks to take the entire family to the Westin Lagunamar last Thanksgiving. The hotel was under some construction near the lobby, but it didn’t spoil our trip since we couldn’t hear it from our unit. Our group of 12 got two of the two bedroom lock off units and two of the studios. The studios were small, but included useful amenities such as a washer and dryer, refrigerator, and small kitchenette. Our two bedroom lock-off included a nice living room space and larger kitchen and dining area so we would gather in this space for breakfast.
The rooms are nice, but not luxurious. Many units do not include a view of the ocean, but we lucked out and requested the building with the best views of the pool and ocean. The rooms are very quiet and we rarely heard other hotel guests. We especially enjoyed the mini golf (play in the morning when it is cooler) and the ruins on-site. The kids club was very quiet and mostly geared for toddlers so our boys didn’t spend much time here.
The hotel is conveniently located across the street from a fantastic mall with many great restaurants. We had fantastic meals at Ryoshi (sushi), Elefanthai (Thai restaurant on the water with amazing atmosphere), and El Fish Fritanga (not st the mall, but worth the short walk!). There is also a nice aquarium and Lego store for the kids at the mall. We also enjoyed gelato at the mall every night!
My main issue with this hotel is the terrible food. The breakfast buffet was very disappointing and even my made to order omelette was not cooked properly. We ended up having groceries delivered and cooked breakfast in our room for the rest of the week. We ate at the pool every day for lunch because it was convenient, but everything from the tacos to the burgers were under seasoned and mediocre. I plan to prep more of our lunches in our room this Thanksgiving so we can avoid ordering the same disappointment this year.
Last year the riptides were so bad in the ocean that we spent the majority of our days in the pool. I am hoping this year is calmer so we might enjoy the ocean. If we can’t swim in the ocean I predict this year will be our final visit.

Great Resort not all-inclusive
We stayed at the Westin for four nights and loved it. The rooms are the most modern and equipped we have ever stayed. AC was very quiet. Washer and dryer in every room. The pools are large and beautiful. Beach is extensive and beautiful .When the seaweed season is over you can enjoy the beach. Food options on the property are VERY limited, but across the street in the mall there are many options. I had a small medical incident at the pool but the guests and staff were VERY helpful. thank you to all !!!! We will be back!
