Overall great experience. Friendly staff and lovely setting! Really enjoyed the turtle conservation program! We love coming here!
No better place to feel at home than the Royal Sands
The Royal sands was amazing as always. Ervin, Moses, Moises, & Daniel took great care of use all week at the pool. So cool when they welcome you each day with your first name.
Lillibet & Abdias were equally amazing at the story’s bar.
Anything we needed around the resort or even outside of the resort Alfonzo was Johnny on the spot taking care of it for us.
Audy our house keeper kept our room in immaculate shape and it was always a treat to come back to the room in the evening to see what neat animal creations or decorations she had placed around our room.

Royal Sands
Great experience- clean and the staff makes the all difference. I have been a royal resort member for 40 yrs. I do not like the Holiday inn- but you can rent from an owner.

Extremely disappointing experience—poor service and excessive extra charges
We stayed at The Royal Sands All Suites Resort & Spa in Cancun from August 29 to September 5, 2026, to celebrate my parents’ 50th wedding anniversary and my sister’s birthday. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences our family has ever had.
Basic services were unnecessarily difficult. We repeatedly had to walk to different areas to obtain towels, room cards, and receipts, wasting significant time. Many restaurants had limited included options, while several menu items required additional payment. When we asked to order only what was included in our all-inclusive package, some staff members became noticeably unfriendly and ignored our table.
We were also surprised that transportation was not included. We paid approximately US$150 and were then asked to pay another US$150 for VIP service. The upgrade provided only four small beers and four small bottles of water, which did not justify the additional cost.
Many staff members openly expected tips, often in U.S. currency, despite service that frequently felt unfriendly and incomplete. We also incurred substantial additional expenses beyond the all-inclusive package.
The one truly positive experience was our room attendant. She was kind, respectful, hardworking, and kept our room very clean. Although she did not speak English, we communicated using a translation app. She created beautiful towel decorations for both celebrations and genuinely cared about our family. She fully deserved every tip we gave her.
Overall, we regret the money and time spent at this resort and are requesting an explanation and refund of the additional charges. Based on our experience, we would not return or recommend this hotel.
