- The Pyramid at Grand Oasis

The hotel is conveniently located in one of the largest and most beautiful sandy beaches of Cancun, close to a number of dining and shopping venues. This exclusive luxury establishment is surrounded by elegant gardens and offers the best live entertainment, music festivals, and in-house facilities. It is the stage where imagination and fun know no bounds. Plenty amenities and various services are offered in order to provide maximum comfort. Guests may make use of the outdoor swimming pool with poolside snack bar, the tennis courts and the in-house gym. Sun loungers with parasols are laid out on site and on the nearby sandy beach.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Grand Oasis Pyramid…
I’ve got such a mixed review about this resort… originally we were supposed to go to the Grand Oasis Tulum as a mom and daughter trip with my two young girls (2 and 4 yo) because it offered all the kid friendly amenities such as kids club and pool/activities for my girls. We were then notified short noticed that we were being moved to Cancun. Which was okay because I’ve been here a hand full of times and had a great time… however; here are my pros and cons regarding The Grand Oasis Cancun….
Pro: Buffet had lots of options and was overall the best meals we’ve had during our 7 day stay (breakfasts and dinners) Room was comfortable and maid service was above par daily. Lunch options were plentiful. Pools were clean, property was clean and drinks were fabulous. Buffet Service was great, friendly staff. Shout out to Richardo (Ricky) at the swim up bar. Maintenance man was prompt when my 2yo locked herself in the bathroom (twice) Evening show was entertaining Room key was on our bracelet!! Which meant never being deactivated by our phones or lost! Huge plus.
Cons; This is NOT all inclusive! À la cartes beverages are extra charge!!! We had black bands (premium class) and still had to pay for wine/cocktails at dinner. Beach is not swimable but still pretty to sit at. Although we were black bands, we only had 3 out of the easily 7 à la carte options. Bars open late (10:00/11:00 am) and close early. Snack bars are inconsistent; often not open when they say they open at 10, also only offering fries or nachos when they have a decent menu. Room service at a charge. Which is understandable but this is a charge per service; not a one time fee. If you are not premium class (white or blue bands) you have to pay for coffee and treats at the coffee shop (learned this from a traveller with a white band) Lobby bars only at an extra charge for cocktails and wine. Terrain and general getting around the outside pool area not kid/elderly friendly as there’s many steps, hills and steep bridges. Very confusing getting around, dead ends and blocked areas. Concierge service inconsistent. Mixed information. Nothing for the kids. Too young for kids club and a nanny is $25/hour but you must give ample notice. No water features for children, play area etc. elevator was broken consistently. No poolside/beach drink service BUT tipping reflects this.
I’d love to come back as an adult only trip and see the things we have missed. Overall; I get it, it’s a HUGE resort. My kids had a blast but as a seasoned traveller, I’ve never been so confused at a resort. The details when booking and when we were transferred to this property; the above mentioned regarding “all inclusive” was not mentioned. Good thing we brought money! I’ve never went home with $$$ before. I only found myself tipping the swim bar, buffet and maid service. Make sure you do your research when booking here: again, great place but confusing.
It was a great stay overall. We stayed in the Pyramid Ocean Front building on the ground floor during the last week of April. The view was absolutely amazing, and both the building and the entire resort were exceptionally well maintained.
The staff was extremely polite I honestly did not meet a single person who didn’t greet us with a smile. The entertainment was also excellent throughout our stay.
A special thank you goes to the manager of the Ocean Front building, Luis Arellano, who supported us in every possible way. Any minor issues were resolved immediately, and we truly appreciated his professionalism and kindness.
We visited nearly all of the restaurants and were very happy with the quality and service everywhere. The Black Box was a truly unique dining experience, and we also especially enjoyed Bahia Steakhouse, Dos Lunas, and Benazuza.
Thank you for everything! We are already looking forward to seeing you again next year.
The rooms need updating Not enough room to put your cloths Food was fantastic plenty of choices of restaurants Staff on bars seem to spend most of there time on there phones and ignoring us while we wait to get served very annoying
I will make it short. Go somewhere else if you want to enjoy your vacation and not get charged twice for taxes and exclusive. If you don’t speak Spanish, they will rip you off.
Don't even know were to start with this hotel first couple of days we wondered what all the bad reviews were for then we realised we stayed in the pyramid at night the noise was terrible you can hear every thing from people coming into the hotel at 3 am being as loud as possible and security doing nothing we asked to change rooms which they did quickly but paid no difference all the staff just stand around miserable trying to sell timeshare and the bar staff are like fruit machines only come alive when you give them a tip the food in buffets was rubbish luckily nicer in the restaurants which you can only use if your staying in pyramid had my wallet stolen by 1 of bar staff right at the side of me while lay on sunlounger pretending to collect glasses informed management who pretended to look interested and said they would check cctv but doubt they did and they never came back to me regarding it wouldn't stay here again if you gave me a free time share disgusting
