Sunset Royal Beach Resort

What a great place. I went alone but the staff made me feel so at home and made sure i was well taken care of. The food and beverage quality just keeps getting better and better thanks to David Barceas and his team. I love the fact EdgarCeilo and his butler staff kept me informed of all the events, dinner reservations and general info daily through "whatsapp", be sure to download it and take advantage of the info they provide through it. I cant say enough things about Sunset Royal. I have been a member for 30 years and have never once regretted my decision to join the "family"! Look forward to another visit or two near the end of the year. By the way, Sunset Resort has a wonderful ramp to make acces to the beach easier for people who find it difficult to navigate stairs.

Check in should be 3pm but got the good one at 5pm!!! We arrove at 2pm and did not do anything to have us room! We entered the door going to reception was hot feels like you enter in a boiling sauna. Please be aware when attending presentation next day if you have, they will force you to buy something like time share!! The offer is good to be true. They will give an attitude if you answered them with no we dont want to be part or buy and when we asked can we go as its almost 3.5 hours and cut them off while they’re talking. They were scary specially the manager! Ruined our whole week stay there. Presentation (forcing us to buy and asking us down payment for 30K USD! ) after that someone will call you that they have a gift infront but still related to buy or recommend the hotel for more promotion etc, and will send you a note to your room for the same thing. Its annoying!!!! not much activities specially for kids. No 24/7 restaurants. Sucks for what we paid.

PLEASE READ « RED D » reviews same experience for all of our group. Good thing someone searched about this for us . Scary as if you say no you are doomed cannot sleep well thing they might do something to us as we are staying to their property as im feeling they own us.

Do not sign anything and DO NOT BUY any package from another booking agent/ vacation promotion! Its like the pyramid scam!!! The resort is not worth your money and sanity, save for the best that recommends by your family and closed friends only.

We have been vacationing at Sunset Royal (formerly Sunset Royal) since 2008, and over the years it has become one of our favorite destinations. We have always enjoyed our stays and have many wonderful memories there. Unfortunately, our 2026 visit was a major disappointment because the overall quality and guest experience have declined significantly.

• On the positive side, the check-in process was excellent. It was quick, efficient, and free of unnecessary delays. The front desk staff were friendly, courteous, and helpful throughout our stay. The restaurant staff during breakfast and lunch also deserve recognition for their kindness, professionalism, and attentive service.
• However, several aspects of the resort were far below the standard we had come to expect. There was no air conditioning in the lobby, which is now wide open and allows the outdoor heat to make the area uncomfortable. The main restaurant also lacked air conditioning, making meals much less enjoyable.
• The food quality was another disappointment. The selection was limited, the freshness was inconsistent, and many items listed on the menu were unavailable. In previous years, the Mexican restaurant by the pool was set up for dinner, creating a pleasant evening atmosphere, but that tradition has disappeared. Even the lobster, once a signature offering, is no longer available.
• During our stay, our best experiences were actually at Sunset Marina and Fisherman’s Village, which we visited on our own. We had a wonderful day there.

Transportation between the Sunset properties has become much less convenient. Shuttle service now runs only every two hours, and during lunchtime the interval extends to four hours, making it difficult to enjoy the different resorts.

• We also missed the evening entertainment. In the past, Sunset Royal offered excellent nightly shows accompanied by an impressive buffet. Those shows are now gone. The only event we attended in that area was a World Cup match, where the refreshments were limited to beverages, popcorn, and chips.
• The beach facilities have also deteriorated. The number of beach cabanas has been reduced to a single, very narrow structure without the comfortable linens that were previously provided. In addition, it was often difficult to find the staff responsible for distributing beach towels, especially after lunch.
• We sincerely hope management takes these comments into consideration. We have been loyal guests for nearly two decades because we genuinely loved this resort and the experience it once offered. We would like to see Sunset Royal return to the level of service, amenities, and attention to detail that made it such a special place for so many years.
