Our experience in detail
First, the staff and cleanliness of the staff was perfect.
The reason I cannot give this another star is the sales pressure put on right away upon check-in and beyond. What was supposed to be relaxing became stressful as we were herded from the check-in desk to another area who immediately tried selling us on attending a promotion presentation at another location. This included increasing “resort credits” that we thought could be used the same as cash the way it was presented. We had already agreed to pay for a room upgrade and now this….we just wanted to start enjoying our prepaid 5 days.
We finally were able to get to our room, but even calls with questions were pushed to this promotions desk where the hard sales pitch continued. There was one lady who said they are a different company and only work on commission…and again after saying I was not interested and just had a basic question, was told “Well, we have to feed our families too”. Mexico is notorious for trying to separate you from additional money, but this was the hardest sell I have experienced. This routine happens with each visitor checking in, I guess unless you are a “member” after purchasing their upsell. Lastly, even the resort credits are limited to very few options in the stores or spa that make up maybe just 25% of the products or services.
Again, if it was not for this, the additional experience was very good…wish the beaches were nicer, but that cannot be controlled. Just do not expect the blue clear water within the resort area.
We will not return as we do not want to experience this process again. If you can sit through it for an extended period of time and do not mind the hard pitch to upsell, then the rest of the resort experience is nice
Relaxing and welcoming vacation
The staff was excellent and very welcoming. Eliseo and Eric were helpful and friendly!
An amazing experience
We had an incredible time in Sun Palace. Our party of 5 went for 7 days as a graduation trip and already cannot wait to go back. The facilities were kept extremely clean. The food was excellent, and the workers were phenomenal. We had an incredible view of the beach from our room.
Daniela and Eliseo at the coffee shop were extremely efficient and made us incredible coffee every day (sometimes even twice a day lol).
At Aurora: Breakfast and Lunch: A very big breakfast buffet with different themes every day. We loved it. Javier, Jesus and Juan were extremely attentive, and even remembered our breakfast drink orders! They always had smiles on their faces. Angel, the cook who made the eggs, was also extremely kind. He remembered my fiancee's egg order every morning.
Dinner: A vast menu and we enjoyed everything. The ceviche was phenomenal. Our waiter, Eduardo, was phenomenal and extremely attentive. The manager, Stephen, was also incredibly kind and gracious. Chef Michel introduced himself to my family one night and cooked us an incredible dinner.
The Thai Restaurant was phenomenal! We ordered a little bit of everything and were very pleased. Gerardo took excellent care of us.
Fuego, the grill restaurant, was an awesome dinner restaurant. The servings were absolutely massive and we all left stuffed. the ribeye ribs were a personal favorite of mine. Sandy was very attentive and kind. Monica, the manager, went out of her way to make sure my dad had a lactose-free dessert. It was incredible.
The Italian restaurant was my favorite of them all. Armando and Angel were excellent. From wine pairings to making sure our drinks were never empty, they took excellent care of us. The manager, Ingrid, also ensured my dad had a special lactose-free dessert. Miriam the hostess was also very kind.
As for the pool, the wet bartenders Elias, Jose, Rizo and Marcos took great care of us. Their "special" drinks were always delicious. Daniel, Manuel and Silvio were very attentive servers. Daniela, Johnathan, Jesus, Pedro and Daniel did such a great job coordinating pool activities. We had a blast at the activities pool playing pool volleyball and the crazy game everyday.
At the main bar, Karina was our waitress almost every single night. She was incredible. Miguel, Juan and Mario also made us delicious drinks!
All in all, we had a great experience and can't wait to go back.
Sun Palace 2026
After an exhausting first half of 2026, my wife and I ventured to the Sun Palace for some rest. The staff here are amazing. The food delicious and the entertainment fantastic. The beach is gorgeous here. They had a very nice 4th July celebration. We have visited this resort several times and they never disappoint. The seaweed issue, although present at this time of the year, it was not bad and still had a great time on the beach. Definitely, recommend this place for a couples getaway or even as a wedding venue. I would like to acknowledge the staff that gave us excellent service at the Sun Palace. Each of you made our stay so wonderful that I did not want to leave. At the Fuego & Aurora, we connected with Javier Lopez as he recognized us from previous stays. This young man treated us so well that whenever we got to our table he had our favorite drinks already prepared for us and took care of us like his family. We really love you Javier, thank you - you are awesome & sooo wonderful. At the Sweets & Treats place Eliseo Hernandez, Eric Gallegos, Daniela Fierros and Adrian Rosado were so awesome and kind always serving with such love and pride. At the Aurora, Juan Guinto, Jesus Rico Santos and Eduardo Koyoc were amazing taking care of us and making sure we were comfortable and wanting to know how they can serve us. Made us feel special. At the Aurora, two great and outstanding cooks took care of us almost daily Edwin Tun dzul and Edith Aguilar Cruz made the most amazing fajitas for us everyday. It was not just that they cooked the meal but how they engaged with us and showed their love for us and the pride of what they do. Truly love Edwin and Edith,,,,sooo wonderful. At Aurora, Angel Marrufo always handled my breakfast omelette with great care. The same with Edwin and Edith, Angel took such great care of my food but also engaged me so well as if I was family. Thank you Angel. At the Spa, Veronica Del Moral Fuentes and Monce (do not have last name but believe is the only one with this name) did outstanding service that my wife was melted and relaxed by the time they finished the appointments. Thank you everyone mentioned here and how you took care of us - really appreciative. You allow us to rest and relax. Love coming to the Sun Palace.
Amazing FIRST Time at Sun Palace
It’s a very nice resort for adults only . I stayed a Leblanc in Cabo and Cancun w the same ‘adults only’ concept, and I must say I experienced just as much fun and comfort as Leblanc without paying the higher cost as a member of Palace . The same entertainers that toured LeBlanc last Jan also performed at Sun Palace . I also got excellent service; I couldn’t believe that Aurora restaurant ( Judit) indulged me and my husband arranging w the chef a special Cuban lunch for us like LeBlanc did . The bars are also stocked w quality tequila like in Le Blanc . The TRX classes in the morning taught by Uriel made me sweat so I could balance my vacation eating. The entertainment at the beach was excellent! I made friends here and plan on returning each year for the 4th of July celebration, which was FANTASTIC!
