Royalton CHIC Cancun

We recently stayed at Royalton CHIC Cancun for our 10th anniversary and a friends wedding...and overall had an excellent experience. I would absolutely stay here again and would rate the resort a 9/10.

From the moment we arrived, the lobby and reception area were impressive. Check-in was fast and organized, and as Diamond Club members we were able to enjoy light food and premium liquor while we waited. Our original room wasn't ready, so we were upgraded to a two-bedroom Chairman Suite, which was an incredible surprise.

The suite was clean, spacious, and had a perfect ocean view. The hot tub on the balcony got nice and hot, although unfortunately the jets/bubbles weren't working. That was one of the few issues we experienced with the room.

One of the strongest parts of this resort is the service. The staff was consistently friendly, attentive, and accommodating throughout our stay. Our butler, Samara, was amazing. She was extremely attentive and even decorated our room for our anniversary, which made the occasion that much more special.

At the pool, Alejandra was outstanding. We were traveling with a massive wedding party, and she somehow never forgot a single detail. Food and drinks came quickly, and she did an excellent job taking care of our entire group.

The pool experience was a 9.5/10 for me. The main pool was clean and lively but still relaxed, and the music was never obnoxiously loud. If you wanted something quieter, the Diamond Club pool provided a much more relaxed atmosphere. Drinks were always easy to get. The chicken nachos were good, and the little rib tips served in the Diamond Club area were REALLY good.

We also went to Level 18. During the day I thought it was just okay and nothing particularly spectacular, but the nighttime pool party was a lot of fun.

The spa was excellent—very clean, relaxing, and luxurious. The hydrotherapy circuit, including the pools, cold plunge, and hot tub, is co-ed. The steam room and sauna are separated by gender. I understand why they do it that way, but personally I would have preferred being able to enjoy those areas together as a couple. That aside, I thought the spa was definitely worth the price.

Food overall gets a 7.5/10.

Breakfast was good, especially the omelet stations. One thing Royalton CHIC did particularly well was having three omelet stations operating at once. I've stayed at resorts where there's only one and everyone ends up waiting. Here, they kept things moving and the omelets were very good. The rest of the breakfast buffet was okay, but nothing spectacular.

The Italian restaurant had good food, although the atmosphere felt more like an Italian lunch spot than a true sit-down Italian restaurant.

The steakhouse was probably our biggest dining disappointment. The steak wasn't seasoned properly and overall the food lacked flavor.

Ironically, the best meal of the entire trip came from room service. We ordered the tomahawk steak dinner to our suite and it was hands down one of the best tomahawk steaks I've ever had. It was excellent. Room service throughout our stay was also consistently delivered on time.

The drinks throughout the resort were good, and the Diamond Club was absolutely worth the upgrade. The Diamond Club bar and lounge had everything we needed, including premium liquor, and the staff there was consistently attentive.

The resort itself is very easy to navigate. My one complaint about the layout is the elevators. There are elevators on both sides of the main corridor, but the two sides don't appear to be interconnected when you call them. Because of that, waiting for an elevator can sometimes take longer than you'd expect.

And, despite being in Cancun, I somehow never actually walked out onto the beach 😂, so I can't give a fair review of the beach itself. The ocean view from our suite, however, was beautiful.

Overall, Royalton CHIC Cancun gets a 9/10 from me. The resort is beautiful, the pools are excellent, the spa is worth doing, Diamond Club was worth the additional cost, and—most importantly—the staff consistently made us feel taken care of.

There are definitely areas where the resort could improve, particularly the steakhouse and a few small design/maintenance issues, but none of those things came close to ruining the experience.

For an anniversary, couples trip, wedding group, or adults-only getaway, I would definitely recommend Royalton CHIC Cancun.

Excellent resort... so many bad reviews I didn't understand. The atmosphere walking in the door was amazing. Checking Diamond Club was smooth. It does have minor issues.

I did Breathless Soul and Royalton Chic in one trip so there are major differences.

1. Check-in was a little long. Give me my band and send me on my way. They gave us the sales pitch, trying to avoid the pressure as seasoned travelers, the free massage was the weak spot. To have Diamond club and my Butler wasn't even at work yet was crazy. We arrived at 10am and it took almost 2 hours to finish with the check-in speech.

2. We had a Presidential Suite. The room didn't feel cozy.. felt more like a Day's inn. This is compared to Breathless Master Suite. The bonus of the room was 2 full bathrooms... OMG.

3. ALL of the restaurants were great except Hunter steakhouse... Service was great.

4. Pool service was awesome in Diamo d club. Downside is premium liquor is only offered in two locations.

Elevator is the biggest complaint people have but I did not experience slow elevators... 5 elevators are not sync. You have to push both buttons on each side.

The vibe is GROWN and CLASSY. Average age is 30 to 65... great energy all around... the club is wonderful with everyone dancing ...

I will be back with my adult kids.

Had an AMAZING birthday trip…from start to finish. Marisol and Arturo my butlers were absolutely amazing. They made all my reservations/appointments and made my trip so carefree and relaxing. Paola is absolutely angelic, she assisted with my membership and any other accommodations that couldnt be handled by my butlers, she was ON IT! I can’t wait to come back💕
