Confirmation number: 1616331176450869. Resort: Royal Solaris Cancun. Location: Boulevard Kukulcan Km 20.5, Lote 64 2a etapa, Seccion A, Zona Hotelera, 77500 Cancún, Q.R., Mexico.
My family came to this Resort from June 20, 2026, to June 21, 2026. Check-in with Mr. Diaz was the only bright point, afterwards it all went down hill from there. The phone system was not working (in both rooms, the whole telephone system led to nowhere), Room 1214's A/C was broken making the room very hot. The rinsing station at the beach was not working either.
However, what bothered us the most was the resorts poor maintainance of their swimming pool and their terrible customer service when it comes to owning up to their mistakes. While playing at the pool, my right foot thumb was cut by a broken ceramic tile at the bottom of the pool, causing a laceration of 5 cm long by 2cm wide, and nearly 1cm deep (2×0.8×0.4 inches long, wide, deep). After I called for help, it took about 10 minutes for staff to come render first aid and stop the bleeding. Afterwards, the resort management (the main management guy who was handling our situation, Mr. Ricardo Chalche) were extremely unwilling and inactive on resolving this issue. The resort management said "Our on-site doctor was gone for the day, so we can't provide sutures/stitches, only brief bleeding control. If you want to get sutures/stitches, you will need to pay at your own expense to go see a doctor and get them."
The security staff who rendered first aid said I could get room service at my room since I couldn't walk, but then the hotel reception said it would cost us extra money despite knowing of my wound (my family had already told them and shown them proof of the situation). After arguing with them, they finally agreed to get me free room service. But this is only one example of their unwillingness to proactively care for their customer who got hurt due to their own negligence of proper, safe pool maintenance.
Because my laceration was deep, I ended up calling an outside, come-to-your-room doctor at my own expense to ensure my wound wouldn't get infected from pool bacteria. The resort reception even tried to downplay the situation by stating that a doctor wasn't needed. After the doctor assessed my wound, he clearly told mangement how severe my cut wound was, and how it would 100% need sutures/stitches to prevent further infection and being ripped when walking (the wound was on the bottom of my foot thumb) The resort management said, "after sending pictures of the wound to our own doctor, he said that a suture wasn't needed at all." My doctor replied with, "if a doctor can assess a wound simply through a picture, then he must really be the best doctor out there." Afterwards, my doctor sent resort management away to focus on treating my wound. I ended up paying $7000 MXN for my doctor treatment, and the resort has never reached out ever since, ignoring our requests for reimbursement.
The resort has clearly broken Mexican Laws, such as:
The hotel staff’s claim that my cut "did not need stitches" carries zero legal weight in Mexico. Under Mexican law, only a licensed medical professional can officially diagnose and determine treatment. Because I have a certified medical record from an independent doctor stating that sutures were necessary and therefore mandatory, the hotel's non-expert opinion is legally thoroughly debunked.
We have constantly been reaching out the resort management, and yet after 16 days now on July 6th, 2026, the resort still hasn't responded to any of our requests.
I hope this review helps other guests see the true face of this resort. If you get hurt, this resort will very likely try to ignore you and escape from liability. Think twice before coming, and hope you all enjoy your trips without having them ruined by management negligence...
We didn’t stay at this resort this year but we had access to it because we are members. We stayed at GR Solaris a few hotels down and honestly we were miserable there. We kept coming here and Caribe for the pools, buffet and Bogavante. We also had a spa day here and it was awesome. The masseuse all had magical hands. The facility was also very well kept, we all agreed this is a must in our itinerary when we return. For our next Cancun vacation we won’t make the mistake of staying at GR Solaris we will book here or Royal next door.
We came here last and in first 3 hours power went out ,Ac is not working its super hot anywhere you go ,rooms, loby I mean everywhere, stay away from this place!!!
Our experience at the Royal Solaris Kids Mini Club was excellent! Emi was absolutely amazing with the kids. She was always attentive, constantly keeping an eye on all of the children while making sure they were having fun and staying safe. It gave us great peace of mind knowing our kids were in such caring hands. Because of Emi and the wonderful experience at Royal Solaris, we would definitely bring our kids back again. Thank you for making our family vacation even more enjoyable!
