RIU Caribe

This review is bittersweet. On arrival, my family and I were welcomed at reception by friendly staff, notably Rameses. Cocktails materialised and after check in, our bags were taken to our floor. Our rooms were lovely with both parents and children having air conditioning, an all inclusive optics and fridge selection. To top it all off, both rooms had balconies adjacent to each other so we could talk to our boys and enjoy the stunning ocean views. Being all inclusive, there was a wide variety of drinks and food with some being buffet style. Only thing to mention is that you will finish this holiday fatter than when you left. Food is everywhere available 24/7. All the staff were superb but our favourite was Celia who attended to us in Coral restaurant. She’s a credit to Riu Caribe. On our final day, we checked out by midday, chilled out in the Sports Bar waiting for our coach transfer to the airport. Our fantastic Tui rep was there to ensure we caught the right coach. It was then when things went wrong. The baggage chap said he would not load our bags onto the coach because we had caused damage to one of the rooms. We absolutely had not! We went with our Tui rep to the front desk and after some head scratching and confusion, they produced a photo of a damaged and cracked door frame. They would not listen to us when we said it had not been caused by us. As this was going on our coach arrived. The hotel insisted we pay 89 US dollars to cover the cost even though we had not caused the damage. Needless to say this left a bitter taste in our mouths and tainted what had other wise been a lovely stay. Footnote, my two boys did see baby cockroaches in their room - not expected in a five star hotel.

Riu Caribe, Cancun …Me and my husband are just back from a 2 week trip for our honeymoon. The hotel is amazing, the staff are amazing, so friendly. I’ve never seen so much food in a buffet restaurant and it was all perfect. The other restaurants were great too. Rooms were spotless and hotel was spotless, we were on 8th floor, room 831, great view of the hotel surroundings and the beach. We read couple of reviews about the seaweed not being cleared. Every day there was someone out there clearing it, sometimes 3 or 4 clearing it and very very hot conditions and they worked all day. The beach is a public beach so it’s not down to the hotel to keep it clear. The men on the beach worked so hard. Last couple of days we were there they had managed to shift loads. As for comments on the noise from the parties, well that’s rubbish. We were close to the Riu party room and we didn’t hear hardly again. This hotel goes above and beyond and the 2 TUI reps were amazing too, Sophie and Geraldine were always around to help. We will 100% be back very soon, thank you Riu Caribe ❤️

Went here for my bachelor party for 5 days. I will start off by saying the service was great and everyone was very friendly, that is about the only thing i can say was actually good. The food was very limited and almost everything we tried was absolutely terrible. The breakfast was so bad and the only thing that was okay was the bacon. This was my first time staying at a Riu hotel but i feel i was very mislead with the “party aspect” that this property advertises. There was absolutely no music at the pools the dj pool is closed the entire time and only open for a couple hours when they have themed night “parties.” We tried the white party and the dj was terrible it was like house edm music for 2 hours straight and not one person was in the pool, this definitely wasn’t a party resort and i’ve been to other resorts where they are way more interactive with the guest and want to make it a party when you’re in the pool and have music playing. The shows they have donoe even have a theme, just a bunch of people jumping around on stage. On top of everything there is 0 room service. This place just was not it and i will never stay at another riu again.
