Secrets Maribel exceeded our expectations in every way, but the absolute highlight of our stay was the French restaurant. We’ve enjoyed fine dining at many resorts over the years, and this experience stands among the very best.
The food was exceptional—beautifully presented, perfectly prepared, and full of incredible flavor. Every course felt thoughtfully crafted, making the entire evening feel special from beginning to end. The atmosphere was elegant, intimate, and exactly what you’d hope for on a luxury vacation.
What truly made the night unforgettable, however, was our waiter, Daniel Uribe. Daniel delivered the highest level of service we’ve ever experienced at an all-inclusive resort. He was warm, professional, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, offered outstanding recommendations, and made us feel genuinely welcomed and valued throughout the evening.
Daniel’s passion for hospitality was evident in every interaction. He turned an excellent meal into a memorable experience that we’ll be talking about long after our vacation. In fact, we enjoyed the restaurant so much that it became the highlight of our entire trip to Secrets Maribel.
If you’re staying at Secrets Maribel, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at the French restaurant—and if you’re lucky enough to have Daniel Uribe as your server, you’re in for an unforgettable evening. He is a tremendous asset to the resort and one of the main reasons we’ll be looking forward to returning.
This review, separated by categories is an honest overview of our stay. Room Pros: Preferred Ocean Front Junior Suite. Immaculate room Cleaned daily Robes and slippers cozy No smell or issue whatsoever Fridge restocked daily with our preferred beverages Chairs on balcony oversized and comfy Loved the lighting around the base of the bed. The floor lit up when you got up in the middle of the night Con: No bathroom fan
Preferred Lounge Pros: Phenomenal staff Spectacular views Pool table Immaculate inside Welcoming atmosphere Food fresh and restocked as needed Desserts were great Salty and savory snacks
Con: Food choices were ok. Sandwich options were the same in the CoCo Cafe
Restaurant Pros: We ate at Bordeaux, Bluewater Grill (twice), Olio (breakfast and dinner) and Barefoot Grill (outside of restaurant and preferred pool). All food was tasty, fresh and beautifully plated. Every server was personable and attentive. We never got sick. We ate early and always got a table. Shout out to the Olio staff!!! They celebrated our anniversary and our day of departure.
Daily outside grill served either tacos, burgers or seafood. All were delicious. This on the patio outside of Olio.
Preferred Pool Pros: Clean regularly. Water tested several times during our stay Servers were attentive Pool concierge, Irving OUTSTANDING. He is a hardworking man who is nonstop attending to everyone. He is a sincere man who radiates when making guests feel their best.
Butler Andre: Checked in with us every day and informed us of the daily activities. He also told us when he had a day off. Asked us if we needed anything in our room that he could provide. Again, very attentive and hard-working genuinely wants to see people happy on vacation and having a good time.
Ocean: There was seaweed, but there were days and moments within the day that you could go in the ocean and swim and enjoy the waves. The lifeguard was on top of things and watched everyone in the water and blew his whistle if you were going too far out.
Cabana Service Preferred: We had a cabana one day. I don’t remember the server’s name. I’m so sorry about that. Again, extremely attentive. He brought us buckets of beer and water. We had champagne. He made sure we had everything and that we were staying hydrated. A worker in the preferred cabana area also did sand art on a towel, acknowledging our anniversary. She’s extraordinarily talented. I do not recall their names. I am sorry about that.
Spa: Hydro therapy and facials. Wow!!! 10’s in every category.
I have been to several resorts in Mexico, both for couples and family. This resort was beautiful and the staff outstanding.
Staff Shoutouts: David - Bluewater Grill Dayna, Teresa and Isais - Olio breakfast Pedro - Olio Dinner Andre - Butler Irving - Preferred Pool Concierge

Secrets Mirabel Cancun is undeniably a beautiful resort, surrounded by breathtaking views and sunrises. Almost every beach front room has a great view but my recent stay was heavily impacted by major operational inconsistencies, particularly around dining and guest amenities. Upon arrival, the communication regarding guest perks and amenities was practically non existent. Instead of receiving details at check-in when they would actually be useful, information and amenities were delivered to us late into our stay. Worse yet, there was zero explanation of what these amenities were actually for or how to use them. Once we did look into them, we found significant restrictions and limitations that made them nearly impossible to utilize. For example a 40 dollar guest credit but only 10 dollars can be applied to select wines at dinner or a certain amount for the spa. It felt less like a genuine guest perk and more like a box checking exercise. Additionally, you couldn’t use the lump sum it had to be split and there was limits. So when did we use it during our 7 night stay. We didn’t. Too many restrictions. The dining logistics desperately need an overhaul. The resort operates on a system where certain restaurants are shut down on specific days, which is incredibly inconvenient for guests trying to plan their evenings. Secrets really needs to transition to a formal reservation system. Because they don't use one, the wait times for dinner are highly unpredictable. I would encourage you to skip the “preferred special breakfast presentation” for Hyatt unlimited vacation club. I felt forced to stay the 90 mins and they say it’s over breakfast but it’s you eating with an awkward staff waiting for you to finish while asking questions. They then have you tour the property and can’t take no for an answer at the end. Felt pressured and sales staff was unprofessional and visually upset when we walked away. If you’re thinking of going preferred yes you get access to Skybar and beach seating but it should all be included. There’s no way to tell whose who and people just go where they want. Skybar has no AC and the bathrooms are hot and humid. Funky smell because of the seaweed near the property.
Five star week! We traveled in a group of four and left with a bigger family of new friends! Activities and facilities around the resort are great. Beach was always cleared and well kept - and sea turtles nested multiple nights on our stay!! The staff are all so kind. We felt truly taken care of. Special shout out to Carlos and Alondra in the lobby, poolside bartenders, Geovanni, Sadie and all the other servers and bartenders at the Desire bar. The evening shows were all a spectacle - acrobatic circus aerial performances, a hour long show of music’s biggest celebrities. The entertainment team are energetic and created such an amazing and inclusive atmosphere for everyone. Sad to be leaving but so happy we chose Secrets.
