- Flamingo Cancun Resort

Flamingo Cancun Resort is located at km 11.5 of the Cancun hotel zone, facing the turquoise blue of the Mexican Caribbean, 25 minutes from the Cancun International Airport and 13 km from the ADO bus station.
It has two large restaurants where you will find a great variety of national and international food and drinks, a snack bar at the main pool, a lobby bar and a pizzeria-bar.
Our rooms are equipped with TV, safe, air conditioning, hair dryer and mini bar.
The hotel offers two outdoor pools, solarium, free parking, Wi-Fi in common areas and an ATM (USD).
Only 8 minutes walk away is the La Isla Shopping Center, one of the most visited in the area and 2 km away is the area of restaurants, bars and discos.
I recently stayed at the Flamingo Cancun. While there were several aspects of the resort that I truly enjoyed, there were also a handful of frustrating issues that kept it from being a great experience.
The Good: Location, Beach, and Staff
The Views & Beach Front: You truly cannot beat the location. Being right on the beachfront was incredible, and the views from the resort are absolutely gorgeous.
Cleanliness: The hotel itself was very well-maintained and kept clean throughout my stay.
The Staff: The absolute highlight of the resort is the team working there. The staff members are incredibly friendly, helpful, and great at what they do.
The Bad: First-Night Frustrations & Water Rationing.
Room & Amenity Issues: My first night started off on the wrong foot. There was no lock on my hotel room door, and to make matters worse, the water was completely turned off by 10:00 PM.
Bottled Water Rationing:The hotel tries to ration bottled water, limiting guests to only two bottles a day. In the Cancun heat, this is frankly ridiculous and highly inconvenient.
The Food: Lacking Variety
Mediocre Dining: If you are a foodie, you might be disappointed. The food was mediocre at best. There was a very limited selection to choose from, and the exact same menu over and over again every day. Also, 60 minutes wait time for food either in restaurant or room service.
Value: I paid $1200 for two people. I will return for the beaches in Cancun but I’m thinking twice of staying in Flamingo.
One last thing…. The seaweeds are left untouched to rot at the beach.
Final Verdict
If you are solely looking for a clean place to stay with great staff and a beautiful beachfront view, the Flamingo Cancun hits the mark. However, management really needs to address their maintenance issues, improve the food variety, and stop limiting basic necessities like drinking water for their guests.
We had a wonderful week in hotel flamingo! Rooms were slightly dated but for the price we paid cannot fault! Hot water in the shower was slightly temperamental but this can happen anywhere. 2 perfect pools, never struggled to get a Sunbed each morning, the towels were changed daily for the pool and daily in the room. The food was wonderful, I’m quite a fussy eater and always found something to enjoy, we mainly ate in the main restaurant and never had a long wait for a table, lots of fruit and salads. We ate once in the albatross restaurant which was also a lovely meal. Cocktails were part of the all inclusive and tasted amazing! Staff were really friendly and so helpful if we needed anything. Location wise was perfect, a 30 minute walk from coco bongo and the main strip of clubs! The WiFi was also good, worked in the rooms and round the pool but not on the beach which was fine, overall we loved our stay here!
My wife and I stayed four nights at the Flamingo Cancún All Inclusive and got exactly what we were looking for: sunshine, a great beach, and low-key adult time together. We booked through travelbyjen.com and specifically requested a street-side room (533) to stay away from the pools and main activity areas. Our room was for sleeping, unwinding, and private couple time — and it delivered on that. The location worked perfectly for us. We were on the beach within a couple of hours of landing in Cancun. We didn’t venture far, but the quick transfer and easy beach access were exactly what we wanted. One evening we walked across the street to Bubba Gump Shrimp and had a good meal. Our room was clean and serviced daily. The beds were small but comfortable enough for our needs, the minibar was restocked every day, and housekeeping was reliable. The AC kept up, and while the TV didn’t work, we genuinely didn’t care — we were too busy enjoying each other’s company. Street-side was the right choice for us; it kept things quiet. The real highlights of our stay were the people. Elias at Albatross restaurant was exceptional — he made the best coffee and was incredibly attentive, making sure our breakfasts were perfect every morning. At Roberto’s Bar, Abel and Roberto kept our drinks filled to the brim with zero wait times. The service there was consistently excellent whether we tipped a couple of dollars or nothing at all. That kind of reliable, friendly service stood out. The vibe was more family-oriented, with quite a few kids running around the pools and beach areas. It wasn’t bad at all — just normal resort energy — and most guests seemed happy spending their days between the sand and water. It suited us fine since we mostly kept to ourselves or the quieter spots. The beach was genuinely nice despite the sargassum (which is pretty common this time of year). We always found a chair or covered beach bed whenever we wanted one, and the water was pleasant. The pools were also easy to enjoy with plenty of available loungers. Food was adequate and repetitive in the typical all-inclusive way, but we made it work by hitting both restaurants when we wanted more options. The wood-fired pizzas from Roberto’s Bar were a definite highlight for lunch. Drinks were consistently good and well-poured. One minor annoyance was the looping music playlist at the main pool and in the restaurants — it got a little old after a few days, but it wasn’t a dealbreaker. Overall, this was a solid 4 out of 5 stay and excellent value for the price. It’s not a luxury resort with fancy frills, but it delivered reliable beach access, clean rooms, and genuinely great service from key staff members. I’d recommend it to couples or anyone looking for a straightforward beach weekend getaway where you can relax, get sun, and not overspend. It’s less “romantic escape” out of the box and more “solid beach base where you create your own vibe.” If you want a no-frills all-inclusive with friendly bartenders and waitstaff who actually pay attention, and you’re okay with typical resort food (and some kids running around), you’ll probably be happy here — especially if you request a quieter room like we did.
Unfortunately, our stay at the Flamingo All Inclusive Hotel Cancun was a major disappointment.
Upon arrival, we were checked into a room that was clearly not fit for guests. There were virtually no working plug sockets, with the only available socket not functioning at all. The room also had no working hairdryer and no working telephone, meaning we couldn’t even contact reception about the issues. To make matters worse, our luggage wasn’t brought to the room for around 45 minutes to an hour, despite us wanting to get out and start enjoying our holiday. We eventually found ourselves searching for our own belongings.
When we reported the problems, we were moved rooms with very little apology or acknowledgement of how unacceptable the original room was. The next room they allocated us was on the opposite side of the hotel and effectively a downgrade due to limited availability. Even worse, that room was already occupied. After returning to reception and feeling like our concerns weren’t being taken seriously, staff finally checked the room themselves and confirmed it was occupied. We were then moved for a third time, finally ending up in a room that was in good condition.
For an all-inclusive resort, the food options were surprisingly limited. Most evenings we either ate out or ordered food in from elsewhere. On one occasion, we decided to eat at the hotel and ordered burgers and fries. After waiting a considerable amount of time just to get seated, and being told takeaway wasn’t an option, the food finally arrived. My burger contained a long black hair, and I was served with just three fries. Yes, three. Photos were taken as evidence.
This was brought to the attention of Omar, the Food & Beverage Manager, who is genuinely the only reason this review isn’t a 1/5. Omar was professional, apologetic, and seemed genuinely shocked by what had happened. He took the issue seriously and tried to understand how such a poor standard of food had been served.
Throughout the stay, whenever we ordered food from outside the hotel, security repeatedly questioned us and stated that outside food wasn’t allowed. Given the quality and limitations of the food available on-site, we chose to bring it in regardless.
The only decent food at the resort was in the reservation-only restaurant, which must be booked in advance. The service there was excellent, particularly from Brenda, one of the waitresses, who was an absolute delight and provided some of the best customer service we experienced during the entire stay.
Another major disappointment was the beach. Throughout our stay, it was covered in sargassum seaweed. Despite the environmental fees guests are charged, the hotel did not appear to clean the beach once while we were there. Meanwhile, neighbouring hotels were actively maintaining their beachfronts.
To add to the disruption, there was construction work taking place during the day, with constant drilling and banging noises affecting the atmosphere around the hotel.
Overall, this is a borderline 3-star hotel at best, with some rooms falling below that standard. Cancun itself was amazing, and our flights were excellent, but the hotel was a huge let-down. Aside from Omar and Brenda, the staff generally appeared uninterested in resolving issues or understanding guest concerns.
I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your next holiday.
We started off our holiday getting into an argument with men trying to rip us off at the airport when trying to get a taxi. They're very scary. We ended up giving him over $100 dollars for a journey that actually cost us $50 on our return tip home. -TIP- We booked via Tui on their app for our return journey. The hotel was nice and clean. We booked a room with a swim up pool. There was a man who was constantly cleaning the pool. He was always so friendly and nice to us. Room 224 First few days were fine. We were near Don Robertos Bar & Pizzeria within the hotel. So could go up and get Cocktails or a pizza and go back to our patio with our own Sunbeds. We managed to get WiFi in the room, so could watch YouTube on the TV/iPhone. HOWEVER... one morning we had a knock at the door. The man said "Check out". I was puzzled as we had like 6 days left of our holiday. He didn't speak good English but I did catch "Front Desk". I went to Reception and they said I need to move because they needed to do some work on the water and electrics. We were moved to one of their "better" rooms. Room 111 It also has a swim up pool. HOWEVER... The Sunbeds were the most uncomfortable thing I have ever lay on (See photos). They were very thin and small. You could only lie on them for 15 minutes MAX. I couldn't sunbathe on them, so had to use the front pool which meant getting up extra early to make sure I got a lounger as they were gone pretty quickly. I never used the swim up pool. There was NO SIGNAL in the room so could only use my phone by the front pool. As we had NO WIFI!! This room is obviously for the disabled, as it comes with a ramp down to the rooms with an automatic door. It is very secluded and soon realised an elderly couple were next to us. This room comes with a Butler between 9-5. He said he can bring us food or drinks or anything we needed. We kept complaining at the desk about how we disliked the room. We asked when our old room would be ready. We had 3 different staff members tell us all different story. The Butler told us it would be ready today, another staff member said tomorrow, the front desk manager said it Friday. Turns out we were able to escape on Saturday morning. Room 221 This was our favourite room even though we only stayed for 2 nights in total. There is no communication between staff members at all. Apart from the reception staff very few spoke English. I asked for a coca-cola at the bar and he couldn't understand me so had to get a different waiter. The food was ok but very repetitive We ate out a lot. We made friends with other English tourists in the hotel and they all said the same thing. Lovely Hotel in a great location but I just didn't feel welcome. When you asked a question some of the staff would get annoyed. I was happy to leave by day 11. Vaping/Smoking is weird in Mexico. They banned vaping in January 2026 yet in The Coco Bongo my boyfriend could vape inside. But a French Lady got fined $200 dollars for smoking on the beach.
