Coral Level at Iberostar Selection Cancun

We had another absolutely amazing stay at Iberostar Coral Cancún! This was our second time staying at the resort, and once again, the experience did not disappoint. The property is beautiful, the service is wonderful, and we truly enjoyed every moment of our stay.

I especially want to recognize Sabi, who was absolutely incredible by the pool. She was so attentive, warm, and genuinely caring. What stood out most was the way she made everyone around her feel seen and taken care of. She was constantly checking in, making sure guests were comfortable, and always had such a positive and welcoming energy. It’s people like Sabi who really make a vacation memorable and make you want to return.

Coming back for a second visit and having another wonderful experience says a lot. We would highly recommend Iberostar Coral Cancún to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing getaway with exceptional service.

I am extremely disappointed with our stay at Iberostar in Cancun and, unfortunately, would not recommend this resort.

From the moment we arrived, the resort did not meet the expectations that were set during check-in. The property presented itself as being held to the same high standards as another 5-star resort located approximately half a mile away that we have previously stayed at. That resort exceeded our expectations in every area. Based on our experience, Iberostar simply did not compare.

The property is noticeably outdated and in need of significant renovations. Our room’s air conditioning was not working when we first arrived, which made for an uncomfortable start to our vacation.

Throughout the resort, particularly in the main lobby, sports bar, and snack bar, there were areas of flooring that felt unstable and uneven, making it seem as though the floor could give way beneath you. This gave the property an unmaintained and worn-down appearance.

Although we were told at check-in that the specialty restaurants were first come, first served and did not require reservations, we repeatedly found that they were unable to accommodate us due to a lack of available seating. As a result, we were left with the buffet as our primary dining option. The 24-hour snack bar was also disappointing, with very limited food choices, and many items were frequently unavailable.

The food overall was below expectations, especially for an all-inclusive resort. Additionally, there was virtually no nightlife or entertainment during our stay. We expected evening shows, activities, or daytime entertainment, but there was very little offered, making the resort feel quiet and lacking in atmosphere.

While some staff members were pleasant, our experience with certain overnight staff at the snack bar was disappointing. We often felt as though our presence was an inconvenience, and their facial expressions and remarks made it seem like serving guests was a burden.

The most concerning part of our stay occurred at checkout. We were accused of causing damage to the property that we believe existed before our arrival. We were given multiple conflicting explanations of how we supposedly caused the damage, yet no evidence was provided. We were then threatened with having the police called unless we paid for damages we did not cause. This experience completely overshadowed our vacation.

Overall, this was one of the most disappointing resort experiences we have had. Between the condition of the property, the dining issues, the lack of entertainment, the inconsistent service, and the handling of the damage accusation, we left feeling frustrated rather than relaxed. Based on our experience, we would not return to this resort and cannot recommend it to others. We expected a resort that lived up to the standards it promoted, but unfortunately, our experience fell well short of those expectations.

This is our third trip in three years to Iberostar Selection Coral Cancun, and we are glad every time that we have come back! The food and drinks were excellent, staff friendly, and rooms/resort are very clean. We rented a cabana one day (highly recommended!) and Yerenia and Carmen took such good care of us!

Customer service was great - one example is that the room above ours had a water issue which caused leaking into our bathroom, and staff immediately sent up maintenance and when they realized it required a longer fix, they quickly moved us to new, upgraded room.

My husband played golf twice and loves the course. I used the gym almost daily and while it could get a bit crowded in the mornings, it had all the equipment I needed for both cardio and strength.
