Loved every moment of my anniversary trip to Atelier! The resort design, cleanliness and amenities make a return trip to this resort a must. We did not do the Inspira level rooms but never felt second rate or like we missed out on anything. The service is amazing. Olga at the gym was welcoming and encouraging during workout classes. Carlos will give you the best set up at the relaxing pool. Herberth, Armando, Osvaldo, Victor and Wendy at El Suspiro for breakfast were amazing. Carlos and Danny on the experience team were so fun! The mix of quiet relaxation, delicious food and fun daytime activities make this resort top tier. If you have food allergies, the staff goes above and beyond to make your dining experiences flawless. I have a dairy allergy and appreciated that each restaurant had a vegan menu, and I also could easily navigate any of the other menu items with the help of the servers at each restaurant. If you or you travel with someone who has food allergies, this place gets it!! An even better experience than so many restaurants in the states. Highly recommend booking here!
Great resort experience. Something for everyone. Excellent customer service and especially from Brandon and Pingting. They were wonderfully supportive and attentive to detail. We'll be back!
Had an absolute amazing time! The Art and experiences team made our entire stay so memorable. Saul, Jonathan, Carlos, Elian, Andrea and Ethan were so kind, and always made sure we had fun and were taken care of. The rooms were always so clean, the food was so delicious and the staff was very respectful. We played pool and beach volleyball everyday, and the ping pong tournament was our favourite. The aqua fit experience was always so fun in the mornings. Would definitely recommend this place to everyone and will be coming back soon!
Third time visitors to Atelier. Prior visits in 2019 and 2022. Inspira booking through Costco Travel. One week stay around Labor Day, 2026.
For additional context, we always bring a stack of one and five dollar bills and disperse them liberally throughout our stay to waiters, staff, housekeeping, etc.
Pros.
Dining. As always, the food is of a much higher caliber than other Cancun area resorts we have tried.
Maria Dolores is very high cuisine and deserves their Michelin rating. Abrazos was even better than we remember it and our server Erick was very attentive. Kopai in building three had very tasty Japanese sushi and Erick (different waiter) was very helpful in getting us temaki zushi.
Dining staff is very outgoing, for example, Donovan at Mercado 19 in breakfast is very lighthearted and always smiling with his great sense of humor! Good vibes.
One evening we ate Mexican dinner in Mercado 19 and while the food was delicious, the kitchen was VERY slow. It took 2+hours for the food to come out and we were still hungry afterwards and went to another restaurant for more food before bed.
Eating lunch on the beach is always a pleasure and Gabriella was our beach waitress for several days. Overall service was good. Sinoue had couple of miscommunications about orders and forgot items, but the issues were addressed fairly quickly.
Andres and Carlos in the Inspira section helped us to get towels and chairs set up smoothly daily.
Entertainment and fitness. There are numerous daily activities.
We did HIIT classes in the gym and instructor Olga was excellent.
El Deseo theater has music and other upbeat performances. We enjoyed the acrobatics and the Latin beats music one night. Another evening the staff put on a casino night with “play money” in the lobby and it was very enjoyable. The dealers were well trained and helped everyone to have a good time - from expert card sharks to newbies.
Maintenance. Since the resort is less than 10 years old, it’s always an interesting data point to see the investment. There were no major construction projects during our visit., but lots of basic upkeep happening such as painting, polishing tiling, etc.. we view this as a positive because it didn’t detract from our stay and it shows that the resort is investing in keeping the property in good condition for years ahead.
Atelier is not owned by a big national chain and is an independent Mexican resort. Many of the workers are familiar to us from past visits Several spoke candidly about how the resort had done the right thing during the Covid era shut down and continued to pay people for months. We love this, personally.
Cons:
Since the resort was only 60 or 70% full during this visit, what we observed is that the management is closing two or three of the restaurants each night and only operating four or five. While this might make sense from a staff efficiency standpoint, a net effect is that there are still some 15 minute waits for dinner even with reservations.
Inspira Club. Questionable value for us. The price increase from a regular room to Inspira was an additional 50 to 75% when we booked. We have stayed Inspira and regular rooms in the past. Personally, we do not really use the swim out room pool very much so our main incentive to choose Inspira is to get better restaurant reservations. For this visit in 2026 we chosen inspira but in retrospect, I’m not sure it’s worth the additional cost. We don’t golf so the free rounds of golf are not used either.
Spa upselling. We got massages at NUUP spa. The staff is very good, however, there’s a lot of upselling to add additional products and services which we declined. My spouse was encouraged to use a special oil for the massage and was told it was “free” but afterwards we saw that there was an additional charge on the bill. Not cool.
Housekeeping communication. Multiple days we called for extra towels and asked the operator to put it in the housekeeper’s notes, but it never seemed to happen so we had the regular routine of calling the operator every night to request two additional towels. This is an easy fix if the management would just put in a simple system for requests like this.
Heart hello. This is one of those intangibles that may have declined a little bit. Whenever staff walks past you on the resort, they extend their hand to their heart as a gesture of hello and thank you. We noticed this happening a little bit less than in the past when it was 100%.
Not a huge miss, but it’s one of those intangible things to monitor that one make you wonder if management is as attentive to culture as they were in the past.
Overall, we would consider going to Atelier again in the future based on this most recent visit.
We love being Inspira members and visit Atelier a few times a year.
We are always professionally and privately transported by Mauricio with Blue Trippers; it’s the perfect start and finish to our Atelier experience. We are in capable and friendly hands with Mauricio, and the minute we see him waiting for us at the airport with his big smile, we exhale and enjoy the drive to the resort, catch up with our friend and anticipate the beauty and scent of the Atelier lobby, a welcome cocktail and more time in paradise.
We are continually grateful for the thoughtful ways Atelier keeps elevating the property, menus, classes, nightlife and amenities, including reusable water bottles for every guest, the new ATI arts center, an upscale dinner menu at Mercado 19, a shaded patio section at Cielo currently under construction and the gracious touch of offering coffee, tea and pastry service in the main lobby for early risers before Cafecito opens. One of our favorite rituals is enjoying coffee and tea while watching the sun rise from Cielo.
Thank you, Abigail and Jahir at Cafecito. We always enjoy stopping in after dinner for something sweet, and seeing you in the evenings added a warm, familiar touch to our stay. We also worked from Cafecito one morning and appreciated the reliable Wi-Fi, relaxed setting, good coffee, and books available to borrow. It is an easy place to settle in and feel comfortable.
Each restaurant offers signature dishes we look forward to on return visits, along with new dishes and cocktails to sample. Chef Jessica and Chef Kevin created beautiful, flavorful entrees for us at breakfast in Suspiro and Consentida, and we felt genuinely honored by such special attention. We are greeted with a warm welcome from Ana and Itzal, and we enjoy the cheerful, gracious service delivered by Francisco, Herberth, Wendy, Armando, Ernesto, Neftali, Alfonso and Braulio. Job and Arturo manage engaging teams that make the dining experience lively and memorable.
Suspiro lunch is a favorite with Oscar and Victor. They are always professional, warm and funny. Oscar has our favorite wine ready when he sees us check in with the welcoming hostess, Ianis. We appreciate the attentive service and good food every visit.
Lunch is always a culinary and service delight at Cilento, from Valeria, a gracious hostess, to Chef Israel, Gilberto, and our amigo, Esteban. We were happy to see Esteban again, as we missed him on our last visit. Our dinner at Cilento with Ami, Chef Israel, and our new amigos was filled with great conversation, lovely wine, and delicious food. Our favorite dessert was thoughtfully arranged by Arturo, who went out of his way to arrange something special—we still think about it. Thank you.
Maria Dolores’ chef’s tasting is a highlight of every visit, and this recent tasting was our favorite to date, including the welcome cocktail inspired by our light blue attire. We loved the unexpected nod and the cocktail created by the attentive mixologist. The Chef’s pairing with the selected wines made for a memorable experience, as always. We invited Roman to select his favorites from the à la carte menu for us to enjoy, and we are already looking forward to our next visit. The manager, Rodrigo, and sommelier Patricia are excellent, complementing our MD family of Roman, Iris, Ivan, Carmelo, and the behind-the-scenes team where the culinary work begins. The ambience, plating, courses, and service elevate our vacation every visit.
We enjoyed an exceptional dinner at Cala di Luna, with tableside offerings from Erik and expertly selected wine pairings by Daniel. We felt honored to receive such attentive service and such a well-planned dinner and wine experience. Thank you.
Los Abrazos is our special venue, and having Vianey select dishes for us makes the evening feel personal and festive. We love dining at Los Abrazos as our date night, keeping with our traditional date nights at home. We also love dining here on our last evening and request our reservations around Vianey’s day off. She makes the experience special.
Dinner at Takeshi was vibrant and lively. Jacinto has a terrific team, and we enjoy seeing Joaquin, a cheerful and welcoming host, and Roberto, our favorite server, who recommended delicious entrees and provided outstanding service. We book our dinner plans around Roberto’s schedule. He is a gem.
Suspiro dinner was delicious and especially memorable during the energy of the full moon eclipse. We were in the care of Karelia and delighted to dine with her again. Karelia is exceptional; we missed her the last two visits and look forward to dining with her on our next trip. Thank you, Martin, for stopping by to say hello; it’s always a pleasure to see you, too!
We make a few visits to Piccolo Bistro to enjoy an evening with Moises every stay. We appreciate his consistently polished presentation and thoughtful knowledge of wines. It is a lovely way to begin the evening under the stars before a later dinner. We had the pleasure of meeting Isai this visit, a welcome addition to the team, who single-handedly and unexpectedly created a wonderful dinner service for us at Mercado 19 one evening after Piccolo. Thank you.
We love the dinner changes at Mercado 19. The ambience is inviting, and the new dining options feel fresh and exciting. Alejandro delivered exceptional service, sharing thoughtful stories about the food, region and culture behind each dish. What a memorable evening!
Roberto, Freddy, Lilliana, Sandra, Rodolfo, Grissel, and Wilber made flavorful and visually appealing cocktails in the evenings at Bar de La Calle, El Cielo, and Don Fernando lobby bar. We spent one evening enjoying the lunar eclipse at El Cielo, a perfect spot to take in the night sky with a handcrafted cocktail.
The Inspira pool concierges and servers consistently delivered a relaxing, pampered experience. Carlos, Javier, Andres, Emmanuel, Uriel, Rojas, Lilliana, Alejandra, Elizabeth, Connie, Damarys, Danilo, Jesus, Jhordy, Alejandro, and Eduardo never missed a beat. We spend a considerable amount of time in the pools and, in our experience, they are an all-star team in any combination.
Some of the quiet magic behind the scenes comes from the housekeeping team. We love returning to our freshly scented and well-tended space every evening after a fun night out. The lights are dimmed, the bed is inviting with slippers placed bedside, electrical cords wound, and our personal items arranged with care. We enjoyed posing the Atelier wooden figurine mascot, Ati, with a tip every morning and evening as done on previous visits, but this trip, our housekeeping team took it to the next level in response. They were game on and kept us on our creative toes until our very last day. Thank you for your hilarious, imaginative, and generous interactions. Well played, housekeeping team of Emeterio, Jesus, and Jeremias. We are still in awe and enjoy reminiscing.
The individuals (we do not know their names) who refreshed the bar, snacks and chilled items kept everything stocked and left extras of things we loved. Every need was anticipated, and we wanted for nothing during our stay.
Many thanks to Professors Javier and Carlos for helping us learn Spanish! We are grateful that you have taken us on as students and appreciate your patience as we practice at Atelier. We enjoy our studies and understand the nuances more with each visit. We appreciate all the Atelier team members who practice with us; everyone is helpful, instructive, and friendly.
Thank you Ivanna and Neftali—you are so thoughtful and always surprise us! Thank you to the Inspira team of Marisol, Jesus, Erikka and Andres for always checking in and making sure we are having an excellent trip, managing our dinner reservation at Maria Delores and hosting a fun member dinner every Sunday.
To those guests we spoke with while you were on the Inspira tour with Israel and Eymard, we are not paid spokesmodels (haha) for Atelier but enthusiastic ambassadors of our home away from home. Everything we shared was authentic, and we truly love spending our time at Atelier. We later ran into some of you who became members; you’ll love it even more with each visit!
Other guests also enrich our experiences at Atelier. We love visiting with dear friends we have met on previous trips and stayed in touch with outside of Atelier, as well as meeting other couples and groups during the member dinner, while floating in the pools and chatting over cocktails. We treasure the memorable conversations with interesting, joyful, and kind people from across the USA and around the world.
Our butler dream team is Valeria and Emmanuel, who provide warm and attentive service. They are caring and thoughtful, creating experiences and memories for us to take home. We are in their care each trip and know from the moment we arrive to our leisurely departure that we will have another memorable stay.
See you soon, Familia!
