- Garajau Madeira Hotel Ocean & Nature Apartments

Located on the south coast of Madeira Island, at Garajau, famous for the "Garajau Nature Reserve", the only solely marine reserve in Portugal, a paradise for diving. With 263 rooms and Suites, a heated indoor pool that has a sliding roof, two outdoor pools and a pool for kids, the Garajau Madeira Hotel Ocean & Nature Apartments is a pleasant and welcoming hotel to spend a few days as a family, a couple or with a group of friends. To help you enjoy Madeira's delicious cuisine to the fullest, we developed the new concept "Dine Around", which allows guests on half-board or full-board to choose from the hotel buffet or the Tourigalo restaurant in front of the hotel.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
3 stars at least 😁 very bad mattresses you wake up in the morning and you have a huge pain behind your back …after 2 hours you are better 😁
The service was very good and polite housekeepers always the a smile ..
Free parking doesn’t exist. Is better to know before you leave there the parking rules so the police will not give you a ticket and destroy the morning after you backpainn 😎
The breakfast was very good 👍
And the pool inside the hotel 👍
Except the situation with the bed all the other was great for the price
Location not great! Found it hard to get bolts in the evenings back from Funchal. Rooms very outdated, flies, dead flies on the ceiling, dust, cobwebs, not thoroughly cleaned! Also, as a hiker, I wanted to charge portable chargers, phone and camera but there’s only one plug socket and it was in the bathroom so ended up setting alarms through the night to get up and switch to charge something else! Also, there was a dog barking somewhere in the hotel all night. I felt bad using the hairdryer because I knew everyone could hear!
Friendly, helpful staff, great atmosphere. Plenty of choice for breakfast. One coffee machine was not always working which was a little inconvenient as the Hotel was so busy. Lots of staff in the morning keeping the restaurant clear and clean. Extremely clean rooms, towels changed daily. Plenty of hot water in the shower. Toiletries were a nice quality. Hair dryer was very weak/ineffective. Excellent facilities for families.
Really great value for a 3 star hotel. Have stayed here before and will do again.
Very poor Faded old hotel Arrived late , receptionist completely unhelpful, no way to get a simple bottle of water , suggested going over the road to a local cafe ! Everything shut down and no way of getting any sustenance Room was dreadful Cracked tiles in the bathroom, rock hard beds , 3 pillows between 2 beds ! , sandpaper towels ,tv low res fuzzy This hotel is very spread out and it was a 5 mile hike ( seemed like )to the admittedly adequate breakfast On the plus points The room was large and clean But thats about the limit A faded old hotel probably to be avoided
The hotel is great, staff amazing and we had a good breakfast. As it was my birthday the hotel provided with a surprise bottle of wine. The only issue was the bed was to hard to sleep on but I didn’t care that much to take a star off as when on holiday you stay out not in the hotel bed.
