Pantokrator Hotel

First time in Corfu , so the right selection of hotel and location had to be right. Picked a good hotel , but the location wasn’t the best. Firstly the hotel , immaculately clean from bedrooms to restaurant to pool. The cleaning staff do a great job in keep rooms in tiptop condition throughout your stay , with towels and bedding changed most regular and in excess of the hotels policy in some instances. Restaurant was always well managed , staff very friendly and liking to chat , thank you especially to Maria , it felt as if we had known you for a longtime. The pool area and pool bar , is well served by the excellent Anastasia and her colleagues making the drinks and food. She is a most wonderful host , and goes about her job so professionally with all staff making this hotel so good to stay at. Now to the location , good and bad. Beach is so very pretty , clear water and ample space. However getting to it is not the easiest , and being older and not as mobile we both found it a struggle. Somewhere flatter would have been better. The main road to other resorts and eventually Kassiopi runs through Barbati , always busy and care is needed in walking. Overall we enjoyed our first visit to Corfu , and will go back sometime , different resort though , and hire a car to explore more

Returned today 2/7/26 from a trip with my daughter (28) to this beautiful hotel.

The pros: The hotel is fabulous, contemporary classy interior with a rather colonial feel. Upon arrival we were upgraded to a family suite which was a nice surprise. It was delightful, spacious, and very large balcony. 1 king bed a x 2 singles plus lots of hanging space and a large fridge. The hotels selling point is the absolutely spectacular views! They’re to die for. We watched the sun rise and set over the Ionian Sea, phenomenal. The backdrop of the hotel is Pantokrator mountain, again spectacular. A large pool and a child’s pool, lovely pool bar serving food and lots of good quality sun loungers. The staff were all extremely pleasant and accommodating all bar one. The cons: the hotel is situated on a mountainside hence the amazing views but the trade off is the climb! We’re relatively fit but the steep climb to the hotel from the road was challenging to say the least, especially in 37°c heat! Not for the faint hearted! The climb continues in the hotel. Everything is on different levels and there’s steps everywhere. Luckily our room was situated behind the restaurant so not too bad but the other rooms were a lot further up and I wouldn’t have wanted to walk up there, one guest hired a quad! Theres a shuttle service that runs every 30 minutes to take you to the main road and up to the rooms further up. The driver was an incredibly rude and unhelpful. Failed to turn up for one pick up and just refused our request for a drop off. I informed the manager who didn’t comment. The other bone of contention is the food, it was very poor. It’s such a shame as the hotel is beautiful and the food really lets it down. We’re not picky eaters and can always find something to have, breakfast was ok but dinner is very carb heavy, pasta, rice, chips, bread, very inexpensive and very little meat. Also nothing was seasoned and was very bland. Carbonara and chicken curry were on the menu, like cheap cafe food yet no Greek food! They did provide gluten free bread and pasta for my daughter which was good and the salads were very nice. We bought a gyros from the pool bar which was very good, can’t imagine why they wouldn’t serve that in the restaurant, maybe as you have to pay. We went to the restaurant at the bottom of the hill, a family run Greek place, the food was incredible!!! The owner said most of his customers are from the hotel as guests don’t like the food. Tells you everything.

The hotel is out of the way so hiring a car is a good idea, Ipsos is the next resort along and Kasiopi isn’t far by car. It was difficult walking anywhere as there’s no paths and it’s a busy road plus it was sweltering.

I’m really disappointed as I had extremely high hopes for the hotel. If you’re prepared to hire a car and eat out then I’d say go as the views are definitely worth it.

The location of Hotel Pantokrator is dramatic: set against a mountainous backdrop, with sweeping views across the bay to Corfu Town and the Albanian coast. It's stylish, modern and immaculately clean. The rooms are mostly individual units without shared walls, and well built, making for a very quiet environment (we never heard our neighbors). All rooms have balconies with that amazing view. The AC works great and is included at no extra charge. There's 2 lovely beaches and several very good restaurants in walking distance, if you can handle some steep hills. Overall it's a beautiful facility, BUT (and it's a big but) if you have mobility issues, bad knees, poor balance, like to totter to bed after a night of heavy drinking - stop here and keep looking. Getting anywhere in this hotel requires negotiating stairs, often steep, uneven, and without handrails. The lobby/bar, dining room, and pool are on 3 different levels with no elevators. All the rooms are on steep hillsides with stairs and more stairs. Parking is down below. When you first arrive they will take you to your room in a car. After that you are on your own. We are a reasonably fit couple in early 70's and even though temps were in the 30-35c range, we were fine, but witnessed other guests struggling. And then there's getting to the beaches and restaurants. If you have a car, you can drive into "town" and go to the main Barbati Beach. With no car, the smaller, less crowded and (in our opinion) vastly more attractive beach closest to the hotel requires walking down to the main road and down a wicked steep flight of stairs. The hotel advertises a shuttle to the main road every half hour, but in reality we found there was no set schedule for the alledged shuttle and we never used it, instead walking back up the very steep hill to the hotel in 30c-plus heat after a morning at the beach. Here's a Hot Tip no one tells you: walk to town and the main beach without going on the extremely busy and unpleasant main road. About 5 minutes walk past the "Supermarket" near the bottom of the hotel driveway, you'll see a sign - "To the Beach" pointing to a pleasant shaded pathway/stairs that drops you down to Lord Byron Restaurant on the main road, directly across from the path to the beach. Discovering this path made it possible for us to make two walks down the mountain every day - beach in the morning and dinner at night. With all the steep hills, stair climbing , and swimming, we came back from our vacation feeling like we were in better shape than before! Regarding meals, we did not partake of the hotel's dinner buffet (24euros) but we found the breakfast excellent with great variety, including fresh fruit, Greek specialties, and many hot dishes.
