With immediate effect, Kenya introduced a Mandatory Inbound Travel Health Insurance requirement for foreign visitors staying for less than 12 months. The insurance requirement has been incorporated into the Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) application process, meaning that travellers submitting a new eTA application must purchase the insurance before they can complete their application.
The mandatory insurance costs USD 44 per person, plus applicable system charges.
If you already hold a valid Kenyan eTA that was issued before 6 October 2026, the information currently available indicates that travellers have been able to enter Kenya either without insurance or buy purchasing it upon arrival.
