The Code Hotel and Spa

For me personally: a nightmare. The hotel is in a fantastic location, right on Beach Road. Perhaps I was just unlucky with my room: every time neighbors closed their doors, there was a loud "bang," and for the first three nights, the air conditioning kept turning itself on at 16°C, waking me up because the room was freezing. Since I had gone to the hospital with symptoms of bronchitis and sinusitis, I had asked the receptionist to set the AC to a high temperature and then turn it off completely. When I returned from the hospital, she had set the room back to 16°C!! Perhaps this was due to her poor English skills. After I complained, the AC was turned off, only to kick back on automatically the following night and cool the room down to 16°C again. It wasn't until the male night receptionist stepped in that the damn AC was finally turned off for good. I was in room 807. I don't know if the other rooms have the same issues, but door-slamming and the occasional loud, rowdy behavior from other guests in the evening seem to be common occurrences. The hotel breakfast is very good—provided you still have an appetite for it after a night of noise and the "AC terror" (which might have been limited to my room). The sauna is excellent, while the gym is just the usual small, lackluster version of a gym found in many hotels.
