- The Royal Paradise Hotel and Spa

This 4 star hotel is located on the coastline of Phuket Island and was established in 1992. It is a short drive away from the Patong Beach and the nearest station is not available. The Hotel has a coffee shop, an outdoor swimming pool and a fitness centre/gym. All 350 rooms are equipped with minibar, hairdryer, safe and air conditioning.
This was our second stay in Royal Paradise. We had chosen to pay extra this time to stay high up to enjoy the wiew. That was a mistake. Our room on 17th floor and we were welcomed by the fantastic staff we remembered from the previous stay. That has'nt changed. No matter if it was the cleaning lady or the manager we felt they appriciated our stay and went that extra mile to make us feel welcome. However we can not reccomend this hotel after our latest stay, because: The noise from the nearby gay clubs is extreeme. The first show starts at 10 pm. an the last one starts at 1 pm. The music was very loud and staying in a room where the windows could'nt close and had to be tightened with ducktape to keep the noise out spoiled our sleep every night. Just for the record - we have nothing against gay people. Only the loud shows that kept us awake. The traffic also kept us awake. The hospital is very close and ambulances kept coming with the loud sirens all night. The TV was the size of our computer monitor at home and a terrible quality. At the pool we were alloved 1 towel per person for the sun beds. With all the sun beds on the upper pool being plastic they could only cover half and plastic gets very warm. This could be expected on a 2 star hotel but not a 3/4 star- Breakfast was good as we remembered it from our previous stay. So what kept this hotel up was the staff and definately not the hotel quality. So unfortunately our next year stay in Patong (7 times here) will not be at Royal Paradise.
Mold problem had me feeling sick for 3 days, luckily the staff allowed us to move rooms. Seems they have mold coming through some of the AC vents, noticed I felt better outside of the hotel & that particular room when the AC wasn’t on. Saw lots of mold in between glass partition inside the elevator. Breakfast was poor quality, also not much variety. Hotel looked a little outdated. Staff very friendly, room service was good. Final review, oversold and paid for 3 star service.
Firstly when we were greeted for check in we were told we could use our card for the deposit. Following this it was told we may or may not receive our deposit back so we needed cash. We then had to withdraw cash however we had planned to use card as this is our last stop in Thailand to avoid having excess cash. During our stay we ordered room service to which it took 30 minutes for the food however once it arrived we were missing a dish - we called 3 times and went down the restaurant after waiting 1.5 hours to get it ourselves. No extras or compensation dish etc was offered for the inconvenience of waiting 1.5 hours for one meal. The facilities were good however communication and reality were not met.
The location is spot on, no doubt about that. However, the rooms are getting older and it shows sometimes, things that are supposed to be attached to the walls etc are a bit on the looser side. Other than that, its clean and well maintained and the pool area is quite nice too. It tends to get crowded in high season, in April it was just great, no problem at all finding a vacant sunbed. The breakfast is ok, with ONE BIG MINUS. Press the cafe americano on the coffee machine and you will get diesel in the cup. They stil have this disgusting instant nescafe and it tastes like something from the swamp behind the hotel. It's to the point where you skip the coffee and walk out to the 7-11 to get proper coffee instead.
It was a great experience. The breakfast is excellent, the location of the hotel is really good.
I don't think those who say it's insufficient for breakfast have any information about breakfast.
The interior of the rooms is as sufficient as possible. I just think there is insufficient alcohol in the minibar. I would like to have options like whiskey, wine tonic ets. There could be snacks like chips, chocolate, but it's still okay.
Housekeeping , f&b and kitchen are really successful, I liked them all much. Everyone is smiling and working well.
Finally; as a front desk executive , I would like to express my extra thanks to the entire front desk team. They have more than all the requirements in their work, keep it up.
My advice for all hotel staff is to continue to improve your sweet and polite English.
I'm sure I chose the best place in our first experience with my brother in Phuket. I’ll be come again on my next stays.
