The Gig Hotel

Wouldn’t waste your time booking this hotel as they don’t honour your booking even when you’ve paid for the room . Cancelling my booking an hour prior to arrival is totally unacceptable , without any reason or explanation. Avoid and save your money

The Gig is located inside and off the busy streets. Soi Sansabai that runs into Bangla Road which is only steps away. The lobby is modernly designed with ceiling fans to help combat the Patong heat. We were greeted by the porter who took our luggage from the taxi and led us to the check-in desk. Reception was pleasant and welcoming. We received a delicious welcome drink and cool face cloth. Our room wasn’t ready, so we sat in their lovely and spacious lobby until our room was ready. We were able to go up a little early. So upon entering the room, it smelled delicious. The floors were especially clean which I loved. Room service was also very good. They cleaned very well and kept us well stocked with what we needed. Now when I opened the curtains and saw that “sea view” in my Superior room with sea view, I immediately laughed. You literally need binoculars to see the sea. It’s better is they just call it a City room. No wonder there were no pictures to show, I should’ve picked up on that. No biggie, but it is a big deceptive. You can see the cruise ships from the hotel though. I’m not sure how I felt about the plastic chairs on the balcony. I feel like the rooms should match the vibe of the lobby. We were able to book 2 excursions at a desk in the lobby and we received a discount on our laundry because we booked with them, so that was a plus. The pool was great, but really cold when we had the chance to go. We had breakfast included, but couldn’t wake up in time to taste it. But I stopped there and the food looked great, I wish we tried it. Everything, and I mean everything are just steps away. We enjoyed our stay here.

We were very satisfied with the cleanliness and comfort of the hotel. The staff quality was also very good and professional. Unfortunately, since we woke up late during our stay, we never managed to attend breakfast. However, if we come back to this area again, we would definitely consider staying here. That being said, we were very disappointed with the Similan Islands tour sold by the hotel. The boat was extremely uncomfortable. During a breakfast stop, our group was combined with a Russian tourist group. There were two guides — one Russian and one local. Due to the heavy accent, it was already difficult to understand English. The Russian guide spoke almost entirely in Russian for extended periods of time. The French tourists and we, as Turkish guests, could not understand anything. The Russian guide spoke for several minutes in Russian and gave very limited space for the other guide to provide explanations in English. Even when the second guide spoke, it lasted no more than a few seconds. As non-Russian guests, we felt excluded from the experience and left without proper information about the places we were visiting. This created a clear imbalance in communication and made us feel that some guests were prioritized over others. Despite expressing our concerns during the tour, no meaningful adjustment was made, which was very disappointing. Additionally, the food was served in plastic containers and looked quite unhealthy. We were hungry from 5:30 AM until 5:00 PM. Especially if you are Turkish and have experienced boat tours in Turkey, the disappointment may be even greater. To summarize, the hotel itself is very good in terms of cleanliness, comfort, and location. However, we do not recommend the Similan Islands tour sold through the hotel.
