Four Points by Sheraton Phuket Patong Beach Resort

I came here for their Saturday Dinner Buffet at Chao Lay Restaurant. I hadn’t made a reservation—I actually discovered this place by chance through social media.

I arrived just as the buffet was about to begin, and there weren’t many guests yet. The staff welcomed me warmly, greeted me with genuine smiles, escorted me to my table, and my dining experience began.

Throughout the evening, the service was outstanding. The team was attentive without being intrusive, constantly checking on guests, refilling drinks, and introducing the different food stations and special dishes available that night. I would especially like to recognize Lukwa, whose friendliness, and hospitality truly stood out.

The food met the standard I expected, and several dishes actually exceeded my expectations. One highlight was a special spaghetti that wasn’t even listed on the menu. I requested it, and the chef prepared it perfectly. It was simple, yet incredibly satisfying.

As an oyster lover, I was especially impressed that the fresh oysters were continuously replenished throughout the evening.

Another highlight—and something you definitely shouldn’t miss—is the BBQ station. In my opinion, it could easily be the star of this entire buffet promotion.

The atmosphere was also wonderful. There was live music, the restaurant was clean and well-maintained, and there were plenty of seating options. From what I observed, most of the diners were hotel guests.

As for the price, I wouldn’t describe it as cheap or expensive. Instead, I’d simply say that it’s absolutely worth what you pay. Considering the quality of the food, the attentive service, and the overall dining experience, I left feeling very satisfied.

We had a wonderful dinner at the international buffet. The food was fresh, delicious, and offered a great variety.

I recently travelled to Patong as part of a 10 day training holiday where my goal was to balance going to the gym and training at some of the boxing gyms on Fitness Street (30 min away from hotel). There were hotels closer to Fitness Street but I decided to stay at the Sheraton as I've stayed at their hotels before and have never had a bad experience. Having never taken the time to properly review a hotel I thought I'd take the time this time to write this review as everything from start to finish was sensational (also because I promised the staff that I'd write one because of how good the service was).

I had originally planned to stay at the Sheraton for 5 nights and then do the remaining 5 nights at another resort 15 minutes north up the road and on the coast. Plans changed having arrived at that resort as the resort was slightly out of the way from Patong. After two nights at the second hotel I decided to cancel the rest of my stay there and go back to the Sheraton.

Location This way a massive winning factor for me as a solo traveler. The front of the property (pool and pool bar) sits directly on Taweewong Road across the street from the beach with the hotel being set back behind the pool and bar. This location is walking distance of virtually everything Patong has to offer, Bangla Road, the night markets, restaurants, pharmacies, convenience stores and massage parlors etc. You don’t need a taxi to live your trip. For solo travelers and families alike it makes doing day to day tourist walks around the city a breeze.

The point of my trip was to train at fitness street which was 30mins car or scooter away but when I did want to train locally I'd walk to either Maximum Fitness (30 min walk) or Fitness Hero (15min walk).

The Rooms Clean, well-appointed, and maintained to a high standard. The beds are extremely comfortable, the air conditioning was perfect, and the rooms are serviced daily without fail. Nothing excessive, nothing lacking. For the price point and the location, the accommodation more than delivers.

Housekeeping Consistent, thorough, and unobtrusive. Every day the room was turned over properly not just a surface refresh. Towels replaced, amenities restocked, everything in order when you returned from a day out.

The Gym The onsite gym is solid. It’s not a performance facility, but it’s well-equipped enough to get a proper workout in — free weights, machines, cardio equipment, all in good condition and available 24 hours. For most travelers it’ll cover everything they need. I supplemented with external training.

Dining — Breakfast Buffet The breakfast buffet is genuinely good. Wide spread of both Asian and Western options, freshly prepared, well stocked throughout service. It sets you up properly for the day, which matters when you’re out and active. Quality is consistent not the kind of buffet that starts strong and deteriorates by 9am. Worth factoring into your stay.

Dining — Saturday International Seafood Buffet This deserves its own mention. The Saturday night seafood buffet is a proper event an extensive spread of international seafood done well, with quality that stands up to scrutiny. It’s the kind of dinner that doesn’t feel like a hotel add-on but something you’d seek out specifically. If you’re there over a Saturday, don’t skip it.

The Cooking Class — Chef Bonus The cooking class with Chef Bonus is an interactive, hands-on session that takes you through traditional Thai dishes and dessert using proper local ingredients and technique. Chef Bonus runs it with genuine enthusiasm and knowledge it doesn’t feel like a tourist exercise, it feels like you’re actually learning something. By the end of it you’ve cooked a meal you’re proud of and you understand why Thai food is the way it is. I’d recommend it to anyone staying here, regardless of your cooking experience.

The Outdoor Areas The property makes good use of its outdoor space. The pool area flows naturally to the surrounding terrace, and the overall setup is well-maintained and aesthetically clean. It works for everything from a quiet morning coffee to a social afternoon by the water. The beach access and proximity to the foreshore add to it.

The Restaurants & Bars Beyond the buffet, the dining outlets cover the range well Thai and international options, indoor and outdoor settings, a beach club setup that lends itself to an easy afternoon or evening. The pool bar is a natural extension of the pool experience. Five dining and bar options in total means you’re not eating the same thing twice.

The Service This is what brought me back for the second five nights, and I want to be direct about it. The staff at this property are exceptional — not in a performative, scripted way, but in a way that feels genuinely personal. They remember you, they engage with you, they make you feel like a guest rather than a transaction. That distinction is harder to manufacture than most hotels realise, and this team has it. From the front desk to the restaurant staff to the pool attendants — across ten nights and two separate stays, the standard didn’t waver. That’s worth more than any single amenity.

Who It’s Right For Honest answer: most people. It works for families the pool layout, kids amenities, and central location make it an easy choice. It works equally well for solo travellers who want to be in the middle of everything without paying a premium for an unnecessarily large resort. It’s the kind of property that doesn’t ask you to compromise much on anything.

Final Word I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels across a lot of trips. The combination of location, service culture, dining quality, and overall polish at this property is genuinely hard to beat in Patong. The fact that I cancelled an existing booking midway through a trip to come back here tells you everything you need to know about my experience. If Marriott’s other properties across the region operate to this standard, I’d stay in any of them without hesitation.

Ten nights. I’d book it again tomorrow.
