We stayed here at the beginning of October for one week and the location is excellent. Located down a quiet road and 5 minutes’ walk from Malin Plaza, a vibrant and bustling night market.
Our room was top floor south and I would not recommend any of the rooms here that are facing outside the of the hotel centrum. It was very noisy until 1am when the Thailand Mountain Phuket club closes. The noise didn’t come from the guests but by the loud music that was played every day from 8am to 1am.
However, our room was clean and recently refurbished but some of the light switches didn’t work and the bathroom tap was reused from the old room because it just looked old and covered in limescale and flaky chrome. The safety deposit box wasn’t working when we arrived, and it took the staff three days to fix it despite Jesse (front of house) chasing the team every day for us.
It is meant to be a five-star hotel, and it certainly attempted to be that with the facilities it offered. We were disappointed that the outdoor spar pool was not in operation despite us asking. One response was that it is not switched on until peak season, late October onwards. The spa was good value for money offering privacy that you won’t get in town.
Breakfast was interesting, it seems this hotel caters mainly for guest from India, so there were no European options. All we managed to have was yoghurt, fruit and toast. Omelette was offered but as we don’t eat eggs that was not an option. If you like curry for breakfast, then you are quids in.
I would say that it is good value for money but ensure you are in the East block furthest away from the noise of the club. The North block seems to be where the largest families are allocated rooms, because that’s what we were told on the grounds that they like to party a bit.
The website pictures are old, and some parts of the hotel do need a bit of TLC. Which they are doing presently, the West block was undergoing a renovation while we stayed which meant lying by the pool was noisy with all the work going on.
Overall, the staff were friendly and chatty, a big shout goes to the two pool bar guys who were brilliant and Jesse who tried her best to ensure our stay was enjoyable. She did say she asked the club to turn down the music several times but that didn’t happen.
