Mom Tri Villa Royale

This is a lovely place. Our rooms were very nice with great views of the sea. The restaurant also overlooks the sea. The staff (front desk, breakfast crew, really everyone) were all friendly, kind, helpful. The beach was beautiful. Really a wonderful getaway.

Staying at Mom Tri’s Villa Royale feels less like staying at a hotel and more like discovering a secret oceanfront residence.

From the moment we arrived, the hospitality stood out immediately. The staff are genuinely warm, always smiling, and make you feel like a welcomed guest rather than just another visitor. It’s the kind of service that sets the tone for the entire stay.

We arrived earlier than the standard check-in time, and the team kindly arranged an early check-in while we were waiting, which was incredibly thoughtful after a long journey.

Then comes the room… and the view. Honestly, it’s the kind of view you don’t get tired of. Waking up and seeing the ocean stretching out in front of you is something special — the kind of moment that makes you pause and simply enjoy where you are.

The restaurant deserves its own mention. Yes, it’s more on the expensive side, but if you’re looking for a memorable dining experience with an incredible ocean view, this is the place. The quality of the food, presentation, and atmosphere feel very close to a Michelin-style experience.

The spa is also a premium experience. While prices may be higher compared to the city, the level of professionalism, attention to detail, and hospitality makes it feel truly special.

Another highlight is the beautiful path leading directly to the beach, making it easy to go from peaceful luxury to the sand and sea in just a few minutes.

And honestly, every corner of this property feels like it was designed for a photograph — the terraces, ocean views, and architecture make the entire hotel an Instagram dream.

Finding negatives here is honestly difficult. If you’re looking for a place with character, stunning views, and genuine Thai hospitality, Mom Tri’s Villa Royale is a place you won’t easily forget.

Location on Kata Noi beach is impossible to beat - SO nice to walk down from beach view room to the beach via private stairs for guests to use. Shady, covered porch for lounging extends the spacious room outdoors. This property is gorgeous, at one time a home of the Thai royal family, this hotel still has aspects that make you feel pampered; gorgeous gardens, sculptures, water features, and water plants attracting so many amazing birds, amphibians and insects to colorful blossoms, a library, multiple pools and incredible views. Beautiful open dining room and wonderful breakfast (our rate was inclusive of breakfast) with made to order options and a nice buffet, and fresh squeezed juices available! Kind staff at all areas of the hotel made us feel very welcome. We had a lovely candle lit dinner one evening also - not a very impressive menu, but tasty! I ended up with a sweet and sour fish which was fried whole. The room itself was clean and well appointed with a large bath tub, shower, toilet and double vanity- the bathroom opens to the room if you want, or can be private. The room was large and had a living room and mini bar with refrigerator. The king bed was the centerpiece of the room and it was decorated nicely in the local vernacular. I appreciated the art, some appeared to be truly antique. Concerns about the room, if any were that the bed was super hard and not very comfortable for me, but I recognize beds are a personal choice, but this was not just a firm mattress, I believe it was probably quite old and in need of replacement, but I left them a comment card saying so, and my hope is that it will be addressed, but we never know! The value, considering the bed, was a little bit mismatched, but outside of that aspect, if the bed had been good, I would say the value was spot on. It was like 3 star hotel amenities in the room, but 5 star grounds and location. It was perfectly peaceful and quiet when we were there. I can imagine there are times when the area is busy when it could be noisy, due to proximity to a busy public beach and main road. There were restaurants and shops easily walkable from the hotel. I guess it is worth mentioning that this area is popular with Russian tourists, though there were certainly folks from all over the world, and I think as an American that can be challenging due to cultural and political differences when you're trying to relax. It doesn't bother me, but I think it could potentially feel a little awkward during a busy season if you are not an easy going traveler. If you are Russian, or speak the language, I think that would make you feel more at home here.
