Don't waste your money
We booked with Agoda and we given a superior room. Got to the hotel and was placed in B block which can only stand for "bloody awful" when we complained we were told if we wanted a superior room, with a kettle we would have to pay extra. 300 baht per night. Awe moved into C block well this stands for " Cold and damp" you didn't need the old fashioned noisy air con. All osf our complaints have been ignored by the hotel not only from us bu Agoda as well.

Go somewhere else
1star if that..we are backpackers and came here as a bit of a treat expecting something better than the hostels we had previously stayed in but how wrong we were. Greeted by unfriendly staff who pick and choose when they can speak English, go up the stairs with no offer to help with our bags(and we were on the top floor), the stairs and corridors were dirty and so were our rooms. There were lots of ants and when we told the staff, they weren’t even surprised and just offered us a spray for them. The shower room was filthy and the shower was either boiling hot or freezing cold. We stayed here for 3 nights and our room was not cleaned once. Best advice just don’t stay here even if you’re on a budget.
Don’t Bother !
We flew overnight and arrived at 930am to be told our room would not be ready until after 2pm ( previously we had been to this We flew overnight and arrived at 930am to be told our room would not be ready until after 2pm ( previously we had been to this resort in a different/ better hotel and they had our rooms ready when we arrived a a complimentary breakfast ) We sat by the pool - there are 4 sun-bed type things - one of which is broken . The pool is tiny and not appealing . Eventually we got our room around 1230 -We booked a deluxe room - never ever should these rooms be described as such . Everything in the room was chipped , tatty and really grubby . Bathroom was grotty and the toilet was really disgusting- stained seat and a big chunk of the porcelain had been repaired badly .We seemed to only be allowed one toilet roll at a time - I swear the cleaner only went in the bathroom to put toilet roll in there - I cleaned everywhere myself everyday with antibacterial wipes I brought with me ! Although some days we didn’t even get any toilet roll and had to go to reception and try to explain ( but we just got given the one. ) We were given 2 awful smelly faded blue pool towels in our room - no hand towels or bath towels . ( Even the tour guide who came to see us at the hotel was stunned to hear that was all we had been given ) The towels were only changed when I rolled them up in a ball and left them in the middle of the bedroom .
We were given a set of breakfast tickets but only went twice - it was a free for all - 2 domestic toasters and communal margarine and liquid jam to go with it. Tea and coffee was awful .
Dining Tables seemed dirty - in fact everywhere looked dirty - communal areas and stairs didn’t seem to be cleaned whilst we were there for almost 2 weeks.
There is an outside area with tables which is carpeted with artificial grass - this just seems to be a home for all biting insects .
Also as you leave the hotel and walk towards town you have to pass what I can only describe as an open sewer - it stinks - we had to cover our noses every time ( whoever would think it was a good idea to build a hotel so near to this ?)
The Wi-fi is a waste of time - doesn’t work consistently anywhere in the hotel -struggled to make voice calls on WhatsApp.
We spent most of our time away from the hotel - eating all of our meals away from there and going to the beach to swim .
In summary , I would advise anyone - go to Karon Beach but DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL -STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE

Avoid this toxic place
This is a hotel from hell, I don't usually comment on hotel stays but want to warn others to prevent their holidays from being ruined like what happened to us. The stuff just want money and will try to charge you for ice and everything else. You will not get your full deposit back. No English spoken on site, if something goes wrong there's no help. You are a target by staff, there is no customer service. The shuttle bus took us to their sister hotel the wrong hotel as they didn't communicate and no signs were on the bus, this hotel refused shuttle to take us back to our hotel and made us pay for an 1 hr Taxi back which was costly even though it's their mixed up. The amenities are poor and staff is rude, nasty and horrifying service. No hot water in the room. Toilet drainage smells in the room which they tried to cover up by using extra artificial sprays, they also refuse to change rooms when there is no hot water and smelly toilets. Avoid at all costs.
Ideal base for a Karon Beach Holiday
The Phulin Hotel is the perfect base for your Karon Beach Holiday whether you are a family or a solo traveller. The staff is friendly and the restaurant offers an excellent breakfast buffet and dinner options incl. room service (all reasonably priced). In addition you are not far away from shops and restaurants and the hotel offers a daily shuttle service to the beach. Walking to the beach will take you 15 mins through the local high street. For major shopping go to Patong. It is a 15/20 mins tuk tuk ride away and will cost you 400 bath one way. The swimming pool area is very nice and a good option for families with children. The rooms are modern and clean with air con and warm water.
