Terrible experience in this hotel, which among other things is still under renovation. We arrive and are immediately told that the pool is out of order. Fantastic! The room smells like sewage, the bathroom is rusty and the silicone is full of mould. No Balcony. I had a small personal problem and decided to extend my stay by an extra day. I call the reception and they tell me: ok you can stay but this is considered a "walk in" (???) so you pay double (€90 instead of €45) and you have to pay it in cash, after I refused 3 times, the Manager (his name is Nat) told me, if you pay by card you have to add the 10 %. A real scam done by the Manager who never even bothered to greet me, a real rude person. I accepted because I had no choice. The same evening at MIDNIGHT, while I was sleeping, they start calling me in the room, obviously I don't answer, and after 5 minutes they knock on my room, I open it and it was a guy from the staff who wanted 200 baht for the extra day of the scooter, as if he couldn't wait for the morning following. And he wouldn't leave if I didn't give them to him. At midnight. Ridiculous. Learn how to treat guests. Enjoy your stay!!!!
Clean and nice rooms with good air condition. A small balkony for smokers. Not fancy, but very easy- going and friendly staff. 5 min walk to Karon Beach with wonderful and cheap thai food ++. Go right instead of left when you go to the Beach. Also good for shopping.
Location is nice but our room stunk of poo as soon as the door opened and they just sprayed some nice smelling stuff which masked the pop smell for 10mins and told us they’d move us the next day for the other 2 nights of our stay and didn’t. Wouldn’t return here
The hotel is aware that this review is being posted. We stayed at the hotel for four nights. Our youngest daughter had no working air conditioning in her room from the onset of our stay. There was a stench of stagnant sewage, and the AC unit was blowing hot air into the room. We informed the hotel of this on many occasions, and their only response was that the key wasn’t correctly inserted into the slot. As a result, our daughter became severely unwell with chest pain, nausea, and vomiting. Again, the hotel was made aware, and a technician came to the room and shrugged, claiming he knew the unit was broken. The conversation was had once again with reception, in which they said they were not able to do anything. By this point, our daughter was entirely bedbound and unable to move without vomiting. We had to get a bed put up in our room to get her out of the unsanitary conditions of her own. I was informed by the pharmacy that if she did not improve, she would need to be taken to the hospital. She has been put on antibiotics, as they believe it is a bacterial infection caused by the conditions of the room. We were given one night of payment for the accommodation back to us; however, the point is that they were aware of the conditions, and I believe they will knowingly put the next guest in there and consequently put them at risk. If you stay here and are given room 2201, please be aware of this, as I fear this is not safe for anybody to stay in.
We had a good experience staying at the Grand Hotel Phoenix in Karon Beach. The hotel was clean and well-maintained—they cleaned our room every day, and the rooftop pool was a great place to relax after the beach. The staff were all kind and helpful throughout our stay.
The location is very convenient—just a short walk to the beach, restaurants, shops, and everything you might need during your stay.
When we arrived, there was a small issue with our room. The booking company had only reserved a bed for two, even though we are a family of four with 6-year-old twins. The hotel staff helped by adding an extra single bed (with an additional charge). The main bed was a king size, so technically all four of us could sleep, but it wasn’t exactly comfortable. There wasn’t enough space in the room for two single beds, and the hotel didn’t have a larger room available, so we had to accept this solution with just one extra bed. It worked out, but the room was definitely tight for a family of four, and sleep wasn’t ideal.
The terrace was quite small—just enough space to hang wet swimsuits and towels to dry.
Breakfast was international and offered a decent variety, with small changes from day to day. After two weeks, it started to feel repetitive, but it was still fine.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay with good service and a very convenient location. We'd recommend it for couples or small families looking for a clean and friendly place near the beach—just keep in mind that space can be tight if you're more than two people.
