Great hotel, decent rooms, great staff and facilities

Our stay at Angsana Laguna Phuket got off to a bit of a false start. We’d booked this holiday largely because of the fantastic-looking main pool with its slides and water features and we hadn’t appreciated before arriving that it was closed for renovation. As a single mum travelling with two young children, that was initially quite disappointing.

That said, what really stood out was how the hotel responded. We calmly shared our disappointment with the management team, who were incredibly receptive, understanding and genuinely committed to turning things around. They absolutely did and it transformed what could have been a frustrating experience into a wonderful family holiday.

We ended up making the most of everything else the resort has to offer. The water sports were fantastic – the supmaran boating was a particular highlight for us – and the beachfront location is beautiful. We also really enjoyed the restaurants, especially Azzurra and Baan Thalay, both of which served excellent food in lovely settings.

Our Deluxe Room was ideal for travelling with children. Having a separate lounge area as well as the bedroom made such a difference, giving us plenty of space to relax after busy days out and about. The resort is also brilliantly located, making it easy to venture out to Bang Tao and enjoy the surrounding restaurants, markets and attractions.

The spa was excellent and the Kids Club deserves a special mention. The staff were genuinely lovely with the children, organising arts and crafts, creative activities and endless games of air hockey, which my son absolutely loved. It was such a welcoming environment that the kids were always excited to go back.

Throughout our stay, every member of staff we encountered was friendly, warm and eager to help. In particular, we’d like to say a huge thank you to Victor, Joe and Sunny, who went above and beyond to look after us and made sure we had such a memorable stay. Their kindness and attention to detail really made all the difference.

My son summed it up perfectly. Before we arrived, he said he thought the holiday would probably be an 8 out of 10. By the time we left, he said it was a 10 out of 10. I think that says everything.

All in all, we had a superb holiday. While I would encourage future guests to check the status of the main pool if that’s a deciding factor for them, I also want to recognise how professionally and thoughtfully the team handled our concerns. We left with wonderful memories and can’t wait to return once the renovated pool and water slides are complete.
