Set in the northern part of Phuket, this holiday resort places its guests at just a 30-minute drive from Phuket town and the world famous Patong beach. The elegant property sits a 2-minute walk from the sandy Layan Beach and offers elegant villas and rooms that feature spacious balconies with sea views. The beautifully-appointed units also come with spacious beds, flat-screen TVs and generous seating areas, some even open to private pools. Guests of the hotel who require some “me” time can head to the excellent spa and treat themselves to a massage or any of the other rejuvenating beauty treatments. Those most active guests can use the fitness centre or opt for any of the outdoor activities such as Windsurfing, Diving, Canoeing or snorkelling. Bike rentals are available for those who want to enjoy a leisurely ride at dawn. The in-house restaurant serves delicious Thai and international dishes (HBD)
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
This is a gorgeous hotel in every way. Beautiful rooms. We had a 2 bedroom with a pool. It felt like a little piece of heaven. Great service. The best breakfast I’ve ever had and I travel a lot. Zuma at night was great. Great beach area and spa and wellness center. I would definitely come back. You don’t need to leave the property, everything else pales in comparison. But know that it is far from town if you plan to go.
Wonderful time was had. Service and staff were helpful and welcoming. Especially for a person travelling solo.
This is the very first time I have stayed at a resort where I truly felt loved by the team every single day, every single moment of my stay. I honestly didn’t want to leave, and I will definitely be back. Next time, I’ll bring my mom, the person I love the most, to the place that made me feel the most cared for.
Before I even arrived, Kana/Khana.. took wonderful care of arranging my motorbike rental, I love exploring town with motorbike. She made getting around the island incredibly easy, and I truly appreciated all of her assistance before my trip even began.
A heartfelt thank you to the Housekeeping team for keeping my room so comfortable and perfectly equipped with thoughtful amenities. I was especially impressed by your attention to detail and how beautifully everything was organised even my charging cables, which I had left in a complete mess!
Ingfah, the breakfast hostess, made every morning effortless. Ingfah’s breakfast orientation was clear, well-sequenced, and incredibly helpful. Ingfah recommended the perfect table, which quickly became my favourite spot.
I was rushing to check out, I’m convinced Ingfah could read my mind. Ingfah offered me a Pure Matcha Coconut for my long journey from Phuket back to Koh Samui. Thoughtful moments like this made me feel truly loved by the team.
Nice anticipated my needs before I even had to ask. Every dish she recommended turned out to be exactly what I loved. She has an amazing ability to understand her guests.
Mina, Yayah, and Joe!! You three are simply incredible. You absolutely spoiled me throughout my stay. Every recommendation you gave and every thoughtful gesture made my holiday even more memorable and truly completed my experience.
Pooh, my destiny buggy driver! Somehow, he always seemed to be the one driving me wherever I needed to go throughout my stay. He was always polite, drove carefully, and knew exactly how to make friendly conversation without ever being intrusive.
Game gave me an unforgettable resort tour across the resort’s 160+ rai (I cannot remember the exact number, so sorry it’s so bigggggg). Everywhere I wanted to explore, he happily took me. Even when certain areas weren’t accessible to guests, he always found an alternative so I could still enjoy the experience. He waited patiently without a single complaint, even when I spent quite a while admiring some of the locations.
Ran (staff) and Panwa (the adorable blue-and-yellow bird mascot), completely made my day at The Active Zone.
And yes, I really do mean an actual bird! Panwa first flew over to the restaurant while my friends and I were having breakfast. Later, when we moved to the boxing ring on the other side of the resort, Panwa somehow flew all the way over to find us again. As we were leaving The Active Zone, Panwa even flew alongside us and escorted us all the way to the padel courts near the exit.
It felt like Panwa was following us throughout the day, making every encounter feel magical. Together, Ran and Panwa created one of the most unexpected and memorable moments of my stay.

Our room was incredibly comfortable with a breathtaking view that made every moment special. Thank you to the entire team for creating such a memorable experience. We will definitely be back!
Unfortunately, my experience did not meet expectations, and the level of service was simply not commensurate with the price paid or the standard expected from a hotel of this category.
From the very first day, the front desk experience was extremely poor. The room was handed over late, and worse, when I finally received it, it was not fully ready and several essential items were missing—issues that should have been checked and resolved before allowing a guest to enter the room.
The front desk experience on our final day was also extremely disappointing. This confirmed that what happened on the first day was not merely an isolated incident, but rather appears to reflect a broader issue with the quality of front desk service, organization, and guest handling.
Another major issue was the large number of mosquitoes and bees around and inside the room. This significantly affected our sleep, as we were repeatedly bitten at night and struggled to sleep comfortably. We reported the issue to the hotel as early as the second day of our stay, yet no effective solution was provided until our final day. For a hotel of this category and price level, it is extremely disappointing that a problem directly affecting guests’ comfort and sleep was left unresolved for most of the stay despite being reported early.
In addition, the way some of the golf carts were driven around the resort felt unsafe at times, which is particularly concerning for families with children.
The coordination between Layan Active Zone and the hotel was also extremely poor and disorganized, resulting in a frustrating experience. A much higher standard of communication and coordination between the two should be expected.
Overall, the service provided does not reflect the price paid, nor does it meet the standard expected from a hotel of this category. While the property itself may have positive aspects, the repeated service failures, poor coordination, delayed response to reported issues, and lack of attention to basic guest comfort made the overall experience disappointing.
