Where do I start.. firstly I tend to not take every bad review as given as we all have different expectations for hotel standards. However in this case I felt we had no choice but to share our negative experience at this hotel to help others carefully think about whether they should waste their time and money here.
The reception and greeting on arrival set the tone for our shortened stay at this terrible hotel. Very dull and grim reception lobby with staff not very welcoming- can hardly blame them working in that environment. Nothing like the warm and friendly Thai hospitality we have received at the other 4 hotels we stayed at. The hotel in self is quite remote with the surrounding grounds looking over grown and not maintained.
Hotel areas are mainly unkept, water features are dirty with grim and scum lining the features and a sprinkling of dead cockroaches in the reception. The room is big but that’s the only positive comment. On closer inspection the room was filthy, had quite clearly not had a deep clean in a long time. Bathroom mirror, tiling, taps etc all unclean, room cupboards thick with dust, all furniture dusty covered in debris- it seems that the bed was the only thing the housekeeping team acknowledged. The room is tired looking, in general the entire hotel looks poorly maintained. I can ignore a well worn hotel but cleanliness is something not to be compromised and is a basic expectation from any hotel accommodation.
The restaurant continues the hotel theme, waiting staff are not friendly, the food quality is quite frankly awful. Even basic foods such as a pizza was served barely warm and unpalatable. The breakfast was the worse, very few items and what was available was not worth consuming out of fear of becoming unwell. We had half board stay and was given coupons for each meal which seemed very dated and slightly annoying as staff seemed obsessive on us providing these - there was no fear that anyone would try their luck at a free meal as even the poor stray cat refused to eat what was served to me as smoked salmon.
We booked this hotel as part of a package through Voyage Privé, when we complained to the manager we were not offered any way of resolving these issues and she seemed disinterested in the issues we raised. We are far from people who complain over the slightest things as we spend most of our time outside any hotel, but as this place was so terrible with cleanliness we checked out after 1 night of a planned 7 night stay as we refused to let this place dampen our Thailand experience.
Be wary of reading positive reviews on this hotel such as on booking.com as we went with the expectation of a good hotel stay to have to leave early due to the terrible experience we encountered.
The hotel is dirty, old and smelly rooms mine smelt of damp, hairs in bed, the towels were tread bear and dirty. The bathroom had not been cleaned for I don’t know how long it was one of the worst hotels I have ever been. I refused to stay there and had to find my own alternative accommodation at my own expense for 12 days of my holiday. I was not the only person complaining either as I was at the reception another gentleman was complaining about excrement coming up from his toilet. No one at reception could help apart form show me another room that was the same smelly & dirty as there was no manager there to help with changing me to a different hotel that was clean and acceptable to stay in. I am very disappointed with the whole situation as this spoilt my holiday and also cost me thousands more as this hotel is being sold as a 4 * when it quite clearly is NOT.
Was a very nice Resort but now becoming tatty and dilapidated Service not the best Nowhere near enough Sun-Beds on beach and ones available need replacing as very old and uncomfortable Breakfast still very good Rooms nice but not the cleanest, good hard beds with good mattresses
Having spent an absolute fortune on what was supposed to be a once in a lifetime family holiday it has been completely ruined from the moment we set foot in the hotel.
After a very long journey from the UK to get here we checked in and were provided a letter that said construction work would be ongoing for the entire duration of our stay. We were never informed of this at the time of booking and the works were on the floor directly above our room
The first nights stay we were woken at 0640hrs with noise from above from the works. We spoke to reception and they tried to talk away the situation saying works would not start until 1000hrs and apologised.
We took this as a one off and tried to be understanding
Unfortunately this turned out not to be the case and the issues continued for the remainder of the holiday.
Whilst erecting the scaffold on the floor above we were advised that our balconies would be encapsulated with debris netting. Whilst we were not happy about this we tried to be understanding of this from a health and safety perspective despite it clearly ruining our view and enjoyment of the space
Regardless of this the way in which the netting was erected and how the scaffold erection works were being undertaken was completely unsafe. One morning a loud bang occurred and all of us came running out of our rooms to find that a scaffold fitting had been dropped crashing onto the roof area next to the terrace - there was a open and unprotected swim up room beneath and could easily have landed on someone - this would without embellishment killed someone if it had hit them.
We went to reception and they informed us that they would move the full group to rooms away from the construction works but these were not available for a few days as the hotel was fully booked
On the day we were finally able to move to move rooms. They made us pack and leave the rooms at 1000hrs but after which only 2 of 6 rooms were available to us with the other rooms then not available until after 1500hrs that day. This meant we were left with no access to rooms for the majority of the group
After discussion with the hotel they agreed to provide a refund for us for one night given the inconvenience.
What happened after this was appalling. The rooms we were moved to were in an extremely poor state of repair and there has been nothing but issues since
Every day there has been a visit to reception because of issues in one of the rooms and we have tried to be patient and understanding but it has gone too far.
Three of the rooms have had horrendous issues with leaking sewage pipework and the smell has been unbearable and it took 4 days of discussion before we finally had one of the rooms moved. They are now in the process of stripping out the entire room to repair and we have 4 people staying in one double bedroom now with no assistance or offer of another room and a complete refusal to offer any kind of refund or compensation for the situation
I could write 1000s of words of all the issues but it won’t resolve anything and all I can say is do not come to this hotel
The only saving grace has been the amazing service we have received from 2 staff members Rosie and Ong. They have been superb throughout and I cannot fault them. The rest of the hotel is a complete disgrace
cleanliness and location is good, rooms are spacious. in terms of service i have never seen such rude and unhelpful staff. a small example: one of the kids on the trip touched the ice cram fridge, and immediately the lad at the breakfast space slaps his wrists and shouts in Thai- any request goes half understood due to the fact that NONE of the staff at the restaurant has a command of an language other than thai, room service is a nightmare. stay there if your day is full of activities and you dont intend to stay a lot at the hotel, this in no way is representative of the good service you can get in other hotels in thailand.
