Great remote location for travelers searching for silence and minimum of hectic, yet having everything required just around by few minutes walk. Awesome staff, great rooms and great food for comparatively low prices. Beach in front is not the prettiest in Samui but instead you’ll get sunsets and no big crowds disturbing your time to recharge.
If you are not looking for busy buzzling shopping streets etc., this place is absolutely perfect :)
We had been travelling around Thailand for a couple of weeks and had four days at the Mimosa at the end of our holiday to give us a chance to recharge the batteries. The hotel did not disappoint - it was perfect for what we needed. Lovely, spacious suite with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in a quiet corner of the hotel. Stunning and peaceful location on a quiet and unspoilt beach and only a short walk from town if you wanted to pop to the shops / somewhere else to eat. Restaurant was great with interesting and varied menu and the staff (who covered pool, beach and restaurant) were fantastic and could not do enough to help. Nice (and very reasonably priced ) massages in the spa as well. Would not hesitate to return to the Mimosa if we visit Koh Samui again
We had a rturn visit to this resort. It is a smaller resort with a friendly and accomodating staff....especially the folks who work on the open air dining room. They learn your name and your food preferences - and could not be more accomodating.
The actual beach is very narrow, and practically disappers during high tide. However, the pool is lovely and you can sit on a lounge just above the beach level.
The resort offers a 2 for 1 cocktail/beer during their daily Happy Hour, starting at 4:00.
The beds in the room sit on a large concrete slab, rather than a boxspring. They are overall comfortable - but it is awkward getting in and out of the bed.
The resort is in a quiet area, with a beachfront that connects with several other small resorts. We preferred this setting - rather than being at a larger, more crowded commercial hotel.
It was easy to order a car to take us to Fishermens Village Night Market or Tamarind Springs Forest Spa.
Overall - I would recommend if you are looking for a friendly, relaxing vacation setting!
Mimosa Good location, friendly staff. Breakfast is decent if you like omelets. Next time in Koh Samui I’ll pick a different hotel tho. The hotel restaurant and pool area is kinda nice, but personally I’d like a hotel garden with palm trees and more shade to relax at. The beach when the tide is up allows no space for sunbeds, and when the tide is down there are only a few bean bags. We didn’t see the sunloungers on the beach like in the promotional photos at all. The rooms are not up to date to modern standards. Somewhat of a “nice try” kind of design but not very useful. Strange patio with sheep statue in the bathroom what seems to be the remains of a shower from earlier days. I saw complaints about the airconditioners in the rooms and to be fair they are valid comments, the aircons need maintenance (see photo). Big dust collection inside the aircon clearly proving no maintenance has been done and the comments about this have been neglected. Needless to say it’s bad for many things to have a bad maintained aircon. We had a jacuzzi room but the jets in the tub didn’t work. I didn’t have a bad stay here, but it alI seems like it needs a little more love and care, and could easily be much better. Though I won’t return to this hotel if I return to Koh Samui.
We stayed there 12 nights and had one of the nicest stay in Thailand. We have traveled Thailand multiple times before, and as always we haven’t been disappointed by the behavior of the staff and their politeness: really great people with always a smile on their face. We discovered the hotel by looking at the beach map of Ban Tai beach, and we have no regrets choosing Mimosa Resort and the beach where it is located. The room was nice and clean, really specious, with an outdoor shower and a cozy jacuzzi. We ate at the mimosa restaurant the major of the time and everything always tasted tasteful and delicious, from Thai food to a more international cuisine. The beach water was crystal and clean, calm and blue. We would surely consider the resort for a next Thai trip in Koh Samui!
