Great facilities, excellent location, and very comfortable rooms! Loved everything about La Vida! Close enough to Chaweng to walk to many restaurants, bars, and shopping in city center, but far enough away to limit noise from foot traffic and activities happening in city center. The seaside suite was perfect! Comfortable, spacious, and with great views of the pool areas and outfoor bar! I highly recommend you pay the extra money and upgrade to stay in the seaside suite. It is worth it! A quick 1 - 2 minutes walk to the beach from the rooms! The pool areas are wonderful and perfect to enjoy private swimming and family fun. The buffet breakfast was good, not great, with a few different food options that helped start our day off on a positive note. Loved the outfoor dining area! Fitness room is small but has enough equipment to get the job done while on vacation. Service by everyone from front desk to dining staff was excellent! Everyone was very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely consider staying at La Vida on our next trip to Koh Samui!

We had 9 nights at the La Vida hotel, what a beautiful beautique hotel, immaculate and clean and the staff were so friendly and could not do enough to make our stay feel so special. The hotel grounds are beautiful and quiet and the beech is amazing, food is excellent and rooms are very nice. I cannot find any fault with this hotel and the location, it is the best holiday we have had, ideal for couples, very romantic setting. I would highly recommend this hotel. stunning. Very quiet location but walking distance to all the action. Wish we were still there, thinking about going back next year, that is how good it was.

Formal Consumer Warning Review – La Vida Hotel, Koh Samui

This review serves as a serious consumer warning regarding a booking made directly with La Vida Samui on Monday, 6 April 2026. What follows is a factual account of events that resulted in a financial loss exceeding AUD $7,000 (THB 150,000).

A reservation was made through the hotel’s official website using standard and legitimate booking procedures. Following submission, the booking remained in a “pending” state. Seeking clarification, I contacted the hotel directly and was subsequently instructed via email, originating from rsvn@lavidasamui.com, to complete payment using a Wise (wise.com) transfer.

Relying on the apparent legitimacy of correspondence from the hotel’s official domain, payment was made in full. However, no booking confirmation was ever issued. The following day, I contacted the hotel and spoke with a staff member identified as Jenny Julian. I was informed that no payment had been received by the hotel. This immediately raised serious concerns regarding the integrity of the payment process and the communication channel used. Upon contacting Wise, I was advised that the transferred funds had been deposited into a personal account and that recovery of the funds was not possible.

A formal police report was subsequently lodged, supported by a complete record of correspondence and transaction evidence. Serious Concerns and Observations Payment instructions were issued from what appeared to be an official hotel email address. The redirection of funds to a personal account raises serious concerns about the security of the payment process and the possibility of a security breach or other failures in the handling of payment instructions.

Despite being presented with supporting documentation, the hotel advised that it had investigated the matter but, in my experience, did not provide a satisfactory resolution or offer restitution. This included my request for the hotel to honour the prepaid eight-night stay. Further Concerns Regarding Awareness and Compensation I have also come across recent online posts concerning similar issues involving La Vida Koh Samui. These posts have raised further concerns about whether the hotel is aware of the problem and whether affected customers are receiving appropriate assistance or compensation.

If the hotel has been made aware of a vulnerability in its booking or payment process, I believe it has a responsibility to take meaningful steps to investigate the matter, address any security weaknesses and protect future guests from similar losses.

It is also reasonable to ask what financial protections, insurance arrangements or other safeguards are in place to assist customers who lose money as a result of fraudulent payment instructions associated with a booking.

Given the substantial financial loss involved in my case, I believe the hotel should explain what measures it has taken to address these concerns and why compensation or another reasonable resolution has not been offered to me.

I cannot independently confirm the circumstances of every online account I have encountered. However, these reports, together with my own experience, reinforce the importance of transparency, accountability and secure payment procedures.

Failure of Duty of Care Any hospitality provider should take reasonable steps to ensure that: Payment channels are secure and independently verifiable. Official communications and booking systems are adequately protected against fraudulent activity.

Guests are informed promptly of any known payment-security risks. Customers affected by payment fraud receive a meaningful investigation and a fair response. In my case, these safeguards appear to have been inadequate. I believe the circumstances warrant a thorough investigation into how the payment instructions were issued and whether reasonable security measures were in place.

Final Position Now, approximately six months after the incident, and following the completion of our family trip to Koh Samui at a substantial additional financial cost, the matter remains unresolved from my perspective. There has been no satisfactory resolution and, in my experience, no meaningful accountability or compensation.

This experience has seriously undermined my trust in the hotel’s booking and payment processes. The lack of a satisfactory outcome is particularly concerning given the amount of money involved.

Conclusion Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend La Vida Samui. The financial loss I experienced, the lack of a satisfactory resolution and the concerns surrounding the payment process have left me deeply disappointed. I believe the hotel should provide a transparent explanation of what happened, clarify what safeguards are in place to prevent similar incidents, and explain whether any compensation or insurance arrangements are available to customers affected by fraudulent payment instructions. Until these concerns are satisfactorily addressed, I encourage prospective guests to exercise caution and independently verify all payment instructions before sending money.
