Its rooms follow the style offering guests comfort and all the essential amenities for an unforgettable stay.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.

Magical stay
Like stepping into another world, very special experience. Our family visited twenty years ago and everything was as we had remembered, perfectly maintained. We enjoyed the restaurant and spa services while only staying one night, highly recommended to stay for a longer stay. One day is not enough.
Traditional Bali in a beautiful location
If you are looking for timeless Balinese tradition meets luxury, this is the place for you. Carved into the hillside, this historical hotel has all the charm of a secluded getaway while being conveniently located close to all of Ubud’s top attractions. My husband and I stayed here for almost a week and were blown away by the stunning jungle views and the beautiful intricate landscaping of the hotel. The staff on site were top-notch, we were met with friendly greetings every time we entered the lobby and they were more than willing to make sure we had everything we need. The spa at the hotel was visually stunning, the traditional Balinese carvings mixed with being surrounded by the sounds of nature was very relaxing . We opted for the romantic dinner on the bridge which was an experience I will never forget. Hotel Tjampuham put so much attention to detail in creating the perfect ambience for the dinner. We would stay here again for sure.
Magical and welcoming
We first stayed at Hotel Tjampuhan in 1993. Our visit this time was as magical and wonderful as that first time. The setting of the hotel on the ridge overlooking the river is as lush and beautiful as one can imagine, the staff are as helpful and charming can be, and the food, particularly the Balinese dishes are excellent. Don't miss afternoon tea. This has to be one of our favorite hotels in the world.
Some reviews comment on the amount of steps throughout the property. It’s true.

Consistent excellence
This is my second time staying at Hotel Tjampuhan. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. Ideally located within Ubud. Authentically Balinese experience with five star facilities. On my next trip I’ll stay here again.
Hotel Tjampuhan: In the Valley of the Gods on the Island of the Gods. Big Love.
I love this hotel; it’s my go-to place in Ubud. Hotel Tjampuhan was built as a Royal guesthouse in 1928, so the traditional Balinese architecture is impressive, warm and inviting. The lush grounds leading down to the river, add tranquility. The Spa, located in a stone cavern, has treatment rooms overlooking the jungle and river. I had the best Balinese massage at the hotel spa. Most importantly, the people who work at the Hotel are like one, big family. It’s their combined efforts and friendliness that makes Hotel Tjampuhan special and keeps pulling me back year after year.
There is always someone sweeping; adding flowers to all sorts of statues and paths; making offerings to the Gods; fixing things and adding decorative touches to guest rooms: one day I had a swan sitting on a lake decorating my bed (made entirely from hibiscus flowers, rose petals and towels)! It’s the attention to detail and care shown to all guests, that’s impressive.
This visit, I stayed 10 nights in the totally delightful Tjampuhan Suite: a room with plenty of space; a lovely, big balcony, and a newly renovated bathroom. It felt luxurious. The hotel is only a 15-minute walk to the Ubud Palace. Personally, I’m more interested in exploring the area near the hotel rather than the crush of the tourists downtown. There’s plenty of eats, shops, walks and galleries within easy walking distance from the hotel, while the hip village of Penestanan sits on a ridge overlooking the Hotel.
Be mindful that Hotel Tjampuhan is built down the side of a valley, so there are a lot of stairs. If you have mobility issues, this could be challenging. I definitely felt much fitter after tackling hundred of steps a day, as my suite was closer to the river than street level.
