Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Beautiful set hotel surrounded by the jungle! This is only a small and quiet hotel which we found absolutely perfect for our 2 weeks stay. Taxis are ridiculously cheap and it’s only 10 minutes into Ubud for around £2. Pool area is well kept and very refreshing. Staff were so welcoming and nothing was too much and food was good! This was the perfect hotel for a relaxing stay in the perfect spot to get about and see the rest of this beautiful island!
We will be back!
Our family of 3 spent 3 nights at Bali Spirit in July 2025. We booked a two bedroom villa overlooking the river.
This hotel is very well located on the fringe of Ubud central area and enjoyed a quiet and, in areas, stunning location looking onto a river. As with many such hotels the plants and a gardens are gorgeous and the outdoor pool beautifully kept and located not far from the river. Our villa had 2 levels and included a lovely undercover verandah area as well.
The villa itself is somewhat dated and showing signs of many years of use. The internal stairs were very steep and had no rail so unsuited for anyone with mobility issues. As it rained a lot during our stay we found the numerous stairs and paths also very slippery so I would not recommend this hotel for anyone who is not able bodied.
The staff were great and the breakfast buffet included a pleasant selection of options.
Overall we found it value for money and satisfactory for our stay.
I would rate it better than AVERAGE but not VERY GOOD.
We returned to the Bali Spirit Hotel and Ubud with high expectations to experience more Balinese culture and hospitality. However, upon our arrival in Bali, we were welcomed by heavy stormy weather, unbelievable jammed traffic, and some room booking discrepancies — all after an 18-hour flight. All was sorted out with the help of the front desk staff, who allowed us time to resolve the issue by making some calls. Then, we finally arrived, with the sense “Welcome to Bali!” in our hearts.
Our room with a river view was chosen and decorated for our family event celebration. We enjoyed our walk around the hotel, a little jungle paradise, and my balcony morning sitting meditation with a bird's song in the background. It was one of my daily highlights.
Breakfasts and dinners we had in the hotel restaurant, only a few steps from our room. Daily, we were welcomed and served with smiles by lovely ladies who remembered our preferences and taste buds. I spent some time at the hotel spa, enjoying Balinese healing with natural products—Lena’s massage was excellent. She is a skilled practitioner who loves her work and shares her knowledge over a cup of tea with her guests at the end of her spa rituals.
The hotel offers a free shuttle to the Coco market a few times a day. I wish it RUNS MORE OFFEN and it could drive us to downtown Ubud like last time in 2018! However, we got some good advice on how to organize our transportation with the Grab service, so our city travel became easier afterward.
I like this hidden gem in the heart of Ubud, nicely tucked away from all traffic, so I could enjoy my yoga vacation in peace.
Thank you for your hospitality and travel advice. I hope to return for more ‘Bali in me' staying with you!
I love this place! I spent a week in Central Ubud near all the shops and restaurants before I came here and it would have been better for 2-3 days. It's crazy chaotic and difficult to walk around as there are few sidewalks and lots of scooters. If you are looking for something quieter, in a walkable area, with AMAZING restaurants and yoga within a few blocks, but you feel like you are in the jungle with trees, butterflies and crickets, this is perfect. This is my long term stay pick!
A special quiet older but very clean and friendly resort which is an easy walk to the center of town.
