This elegant boutique resort is located on the hillside of Bali's fashionable Nusa Dua area and offers its guests 29 charming pavilions. The complex overlooks the Indian Ocean and is a 10-minute walk from the secluded Geger beach, where guests can find unspoiled white sand and wonderful opportunities to sunbath and swim. Those guest who prefer a little more privacy can grab a book or a newspaper from the library located near the hotel lobby and lazy around the private swimming pool, with which each of the villas is equipped. For a total relaxation they can request a full-body or a special massage that will surely revitalize their bodies and increase their well-being.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
My husband and I stayed at The Balé Nusa Dua to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we had chosen somewhere very special.
We deliberately chose The Balé because we didn’t want a large, busy or overcrowded resort. We wanted somewhere that felt peaceful, private, exclusive and intimate — somewhere we could completely switch off, relax and enjoy our anniversary together. It lived up to our expectations in every way and, in many ways, exceeded them.
What truly makes this hotel exceptional is the people. Every member of staff we encountered was warm, welcoming, professional and genuinely caring. There is a real sense of personal service here, and within a very short time, The Balé began to feel like our home away from home.
A very special thank you to Gobi and Addy, as well as the entire reception team. From the beautiful welcome we received on our first day to every interaction throughout our stay, we were treated with so much kindness and attention. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble. At the same time, the team understood that we had chosen The Balé for its privacy and tranquillity and gave us exactly the right balance of attentive service and personal space.
The restaurant team were equally wonderful. Every meal was accompanied by warm, attentive service, and we were always greeted with genuine smiles. It never felt like we were simply being served as hotel guests — the service felt personal, thoughtful and sincere.
And then there is the spa — absolutely incredible!
A huge and very special thank you to Ritha and Siri, who took such wonderful care of us. They were both incredibly welcoming, kind and professional and made our spa experience one of the highlights of our anniversary stay.
The spa itself is beautiful, peaceful and incredibly relaxing, and the stress-relief massage was exceptional. From beginning to end, we felt completely relaxed and looked after. Ritha and Siri added such a lovely personal touch to the experience, and we will genuinely remember them both. Thank you, Ritha and Siri — you were amazing. ❤️
What we loved most about The Balé is that it has managed to create something quite rare. It feels exclusive without being pretentious, luxurious while still being warm and welcoming, and private without ever feeling isolated.
For our wedding anniversary, we wanted somewhere where we could slow down, reconnect, relax and simply enjoy being together — and The Balé gave us exactly that.
A heartfelt thank you to Gobi, Addy, Ritha, Siri, the reception team, restaurant team, spa team and everyone else behind the scenes who contributed to making our anniversary so memorable.
We arrived as guests, but the warmth and hospitality we received made us feel completely at home. We are leaving with some truly beautiful memories of our time here.
We would return without hesitation and recommend The Balé to any couple looking for a peaceful, romantic and genuinely special experience in Bali.
An exceptional hotel, a beautiful atmosphere and, most importantly, an incredible team of people. Five stars simply doesn’t feel enough. ❤️
An Exceptional Stay at The Balé Nusa Dua
We had the most wonderful time at The Balé. We’ve travelled quite extensively, and although we certainly haven’t been everywhere, we thought the hotel was quite exceptional architecturally. Its design is genuinely unique and gives the whole place a very special feel.
However, what really eclipsed the beautiful surroundings was the service. The “Family Team”, as they call themselves, were extraordinary. On the one occasion we did have an issue — no stay is ever completely perfect — their response was immediate and the action taken was thoughtful and efficient. Their care and attention felt completely genuine, rather than simply being part of the service.
Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice, and we also really enjoyed the evening meals.
We visited Canna Beach Club, which is lovely, and the hotel’s transport and access make it very easy to enjoy. However, we actually preferred the local beach, around a 10-minute walk away. It had a wonderfully relaxed, local feel, with everyone — and quite a few dogs! — simply enjoying their holidays. The little beach bars served drinks and food at very reasonable prices and were perfect for lunch.
The Balé is definitely not a party resort. In fact, it is probably the calmest hotel we have ever stayed in, which for us was a huge part of its appeal.
A couple of points to note: the road outside the hotel is very busy with traffic and scooters, so if you are a light sleeper, we would recommend requesting a villa towards the back of the resort. There are more steps to climb, but it is noticeably quieter.
And definitely book the cookery course while you are there — it was an amazing experience and Chef Beny was fantastic.
We loved our stay and very much hope to return next year. We would also love to visit their sister resort in the national park.
A truly special hotel with exceptional service — highly recommended.
C&D from the UK Villa 18
It always feels like coming home when we arrive at The Balé. Staff are warm and kind and the hotel is always comfortable. We particularly admire the elegance of its design and use of materials like stone and local wood in a modernist architectural vocabulary (in an area where the ruling design is overdone Bali-Hai and a tad kitschy). The rooms are large and spacious--perhaps one more comfortable chair would be nice--and the outdoor shower delicious. And how great is the privacy and private pool? The owner tells us that the villas will be updated over the next year, which makes sense with this now-25 year old property. I also love reading and napping under the bale next to the pool . A great value and a great stay.
This was our first time staying at the Bale, sadly it was disappointing. Our villa was located extremely close to the road, there was traffic noise all night. We were offered ear plugs as a solution. We ordered breakfast in the villa, but unfortunately it took over 45 minutes to arrive. The facilities are beautiful, but with only having one main restaurant and a tapas bar the menu was limited.
Six nights at The Balé in Nusa Dua, and we’re already planning our return. This adults-only retreat is stunning - our villa had its own private pool, the grounds were immaculate, and there was a sense of peace that never seemed to break. The spa was another highlight, offering some of the best massages we’ve had anywhere, delivered by highly skilled therapists in a beautiful, tranquil setting.
But it was the people who truly made our stay. Imelda and Ade at reception were warm, attentive, and seemed to anticipate everything before we even asked. Victor, our driver, was safe, punctual, and full of excellent local suggestions, making getting around effortless.
With its exceptional accommodation, dining, spa, and service, The Balé also offers excellent value for money. Highly recommended. A special thank you all at Balé Nusa Dua for making our stay so memorable!
