I can't imagine a better resort to stay at in Bali.
I received a master class in architecture and service at the Apurva Kempinski. The design is monolithic yet cozy and serene; a combination that is not often achieved. We visited five of the restaurants and raved about them all, with our favorite being The Pala where we dined on Indian cuisine one night and a Riistaffel the other. All the restaurants were surprisingly economical for a 5-star hotel.
Our room - always immaculately clean, was sensational, with a shared pool that ran across 7 or 8 others in a kind of 1-meter deep canal. Whenever we swam in it we were alone, so it didn't feel communal. The other main pools were quite large so even if the hotel was at capacity you wondered where all the guests were.
But the most impressive part was the service. I learned so much about customer service from the extraordinay staff, which is saying a lot because I train others in CS. They receive 6 months of training to start with - and it really shows. If you want pampering, appreciation and NO WAITING for anything, this is your hotel.
Although I recommend tipping the staff, there was never one time when you felt it was expected or even desired. They all seemed just happy to ensure that you had the best experience possible. Period.
We had let them know that my wife was celebrating her 60th birthday - and every evening they treated us to a special birthday dessert. All 5 nights!
A special mention goes to Lia who was so empathic, welcoming, and a joy to be around that she brought my wife to tears.
The entire experience was one that we will treasure in our memories - until we return one day.
I don't want to end this review without a shout-out to Jimmy, the DJ/Sax player on the top floor where we had after-dinner cocktails. He created a blissful atmosphere and was the cherry on top.
I can't imagine a better resort to stay at in Bali.

Short break
Such a wonderful experience. The hotel and facilities are immaculate. In particular every single staff member was so professional and accomodating. Many people to thank including Yos and the team at the cliff lounge but everyone in the Chinese and Japanese restaurants were all amazing. Thank you for making our trip so memorable.
