Bali has a way of getting into your soul — and our stay at the Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua made that feeling utterly complete. From sacred ceremonies to birthday magic, this visit was woven together by extraordinary people who turned a holiday into something we will carry with us for years.
Sep ( I hope I got your name right) — Melukat Ceremony The highlight of our entire trip was the sacred Melukat purification ceremony, and Sep deserves every word of praise we can offer. His guidance was patient, reverent, and deeply personal — he took the time to explain the spiritual significance of each step, ensuring we approached the ritual with the respect and understanding it deserves. Thanks to him we left the ceremony feeling genuinely moved. An absolutely unforgettable experience.
Wardana — Dining & Pasar Sengol When it came to food, Wardana was our compass. His dinner recommendations from the water court were spot-on. Our evening at Pasar Sengol was nothing short of spectacular, and that was in no small part down to Wardana’s attentiveness and passion for making the experience shine. He anticipated every need before we had to ask, and his enthusiasm for Balinese cuisine was infectious.
Putu — Kids Club The Kids Club was a genuine sanctuary for our lil one. Putu’s nurturing presence and boundless energy made it better. Also her performance and care in Theo’s birthday celebrations was amazing ! He loved every bit of the attention!
Suar — Theo’s Birthday Celebrations Theo’s birthday was made truly magical by Suar. From the thoughtful personal touches to the sheer joy she brought to every moment of the celebration, Suar went so far beyond what we expected. Watching Theo’s face light up was priceless and that’s a credit to Ayu’s dedication, creativity, and genuine warmth. She treated our son’s special day as if it were her own family’s celebration. We cannot thank her enough.
On-Property Dining and check in It would be remiss not to mention couple of disappointment
While I really hope this was lost in translation the check in agent told us the welcome drink was “self service” and actually stuck to it while we saw other guests being offered? After a long flight and a wait to check in this was a questionable start to our stay!
The on-property dining options fell short of the standard set by everything else here. For a resort of this calibre and scale, the variety and quality of in-house restaurants felt limited and, at times, at capacity with long wait times. While Pasar Sengol delivered a memorable evening, and the ambiance of the water court was amazing, the broader dining landscape within the property left us wanting more. In my opinion guests on extended stays deserve a richer culinary programme that matches the resort’s ambitions elsewhere — this is an area where investment.
Suar, Sep, Wardana and Putu — you are the heart of this resort. You turned our family holiday into something sacred. We will be back soon!
We stayed here as a large family group for a 70th birthday. The resort itself is beautiful, the pools are fantastic, you are never bored, and the food is all very tasty (Pasar Senggol is a must-do!). The day-to-day staff are lovely. The location is also excellent with its close proximity to Bali Collection for easy shopping
Unfortunately, coordination for our special occasion was deeply frustrating. The staff seem rigidly trained with zero outside-the-box flexibility - the exact opposite of 5 star service. We were told a single large table was impossible (16), yet we saw other big groups accommodated. We offered to pay extra for a special birthday setup but received no help. While they kindly thought to arrange a "Happy Birthday" note for the room, they mistakenly set up the wrong rooms. On the actual birthday night, despite booking months in advance, we were shoved into a dark area of the restaurant with no lighting and non-existent service just to try and accommodate a larger table, which still wasn’t big enough.
Advice for future guests:
Would we come back? Yes, but only as a small family group. Not as a big group.
Ari poolbar offers the best service - remembers names, always checks for food and drinks, speaks good english and is very friendly :) check for Ari and have a great pool day :)
Ari poolbar was very professional and efficient, good english as well. One negative thing: Due to full capacity of the hotel there was not enough sun beds on the pool area and the beach
Great location, rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious. For such a large resort, and being in peak school holiday season, surprisingly quiet. If you do decide to go in peak season, maybe think about booking restaurants at the Hyatt in advance! Bali Collection across the road tho has many fantastic restaurants to dine at!
