We should have booked elsewhere

We were misguided by the website and other Hyatt Hotels we stayed in the past. Our mistake entirely. We booked three rooms and spent (too) much money for what it is. The good part: 1. The landscape is beautiful and mature. If you like taking Instagram-worthy photos, taking photos from the gardens and flowers, you will not be disappointed. 2. The bed at the Grand Executive Suite at the South Tower (there are several towers) is good. We were able to sleep without aircon and sleep quality was good, thanks to cooler weather. With air conditioning, it would have been impossible as it is directly blowing onto the bed and is loud. 3. The staff throughout is very friendly and helpful, wherever you go. 4. The Club lounge is generally good and the only place you can get decent quality food at happy hour. Breakfast is not bad, though there is only highly processed cereal at the cereal section. 5. Good tennis court surface and lovely lady providing racquets etc. The bad, on a scale from 0 to 10: 0/10 The whole place needs a deep clean - the entire hotel. Seats, lounges, table sets, beach loungers are in a very terrible state, cabanas… dirty and with chaotic booking system. Housekeeping: please provide new mops - I have never seen such dirty cleaning tools that were standing in front of our room. 02/10 The whole place needs repairs. -20/10 After eating at two restaurants we gave up and ended eating the snacks at the club lounge at dinner. One which stood out is the horrible food at the Italian Restaurant. Even the waitress was embarrassed. 0/10 Drinks are watery… In total: 2/10 - commercially optimised wherever you look and go. Certainly not carrying the Hyatt quality stamp. This could be a beautiful place otherwise - the gardens are very pretty. Admittingly, the place currently is overcrowded but that doesn’t justify such state of the hotel. Perhaps there is a possibility to close down for a while and renovate. It could be a lovely place.

Stunning beach access but inconsistent

The best part of Hyatt Bali is the amazing beach in Nusa Dua. Some parts of the hotels are amazing but far from everything is 5 star. They have good options for food and beverages around the resort. The main pool is fun albeit way too small for 636 rooms. Sunbeds are always reserved by 9am despite hotel efforts to stop it - not their fault but there are ways to prevent it. Guess all hotels struggle with this regardless. Staff is nice and friendly but in some cases way too busy so your pool order may take time to get in. Not offering QR code to order to your sun bed is a miss I think. Also love that it is close to Bali Collection.

Some negatives as to why not 5 star: Too large of a complex to feel personal. Not enough pools for the 4 large villages. They have more pools but not all are accessible for everyone. Instead ponds of fish, lizards and lilies in front of the complexes which adds little value. South Village pond/swamp especially. Rooms feel outdated with noticeable aging design and scratchmarks and given room rates I expect a coffee maker (Nespresso) in every room not just a water kettle. Given its size it is difficult to feel special at this resort - and in many cases the consistency in 4-5 of their breakfast restaurant options is not there. Do I order coffee with the server? Do I get it myself? Still have no idea what the process was. Some days I ordered coffee, others I just got it myself as no one asked me for my order.

I blame it on the size of the resort. Impossible to get the desired consistency on such a large complex.

What settled that this would be a 3 star rating was the fact that after 7 days at this resort and +40 million rupies spent - when checking out, no one asked me how my stay was. Obviously not interested in hearing any of the above feedback.

Wonderful stay

Second time visit for us and it was just as good as the first visit. I was worried it was going to be very busy but honestly it is so big and spread out that you didn't notice it. Plenty of loungers by the beach under the trees which is our favourite spot. Food and drinks are not cheap but what you would expect in a nice hotel and still cheaper than home in NZ! We ended up adding the all inclusion to our stay and then we certainly made the most of it! Highly recommend it meant we could be crazy and not worry about spending. Staff are amazing, rooms huge and all the restaurants we ate at just yummy especially the Japanese restaurant. All the staff are friendly and helpful and especially enjoyed talking to the staff in the Japanese restaurant. Cant wait to return.
