What a perfect luxurious place to stay in Bali and for us an excellent way to start our two week vacation. Our plan was to relax, indulge and do it again the next day. No activities planned prior to our arrival, as we know this is way to avoid the stress of a busy lifestyle. We were pampered by the staff, without them being overly present and loved every minute of our 6-day stay. After this we moved on to another hidden gem in Bali.

Our trip started with a fairly comfortable 16 hour flight and smooth arrival process as we had digital Visas (eVOA) done prior. We were picked up at DPS airport by an Amarterra driver with a smile (Whatsapp is also widely used here) and drove in about 30 minutes in a comfortable car to the villas. Upon arrival there we were again greeted with smiles on our evening arrival, a small lovely (voluntary) welcome ceremony followed by an expeditious check-in. We then had time to see and admire the beautiful sights of the whole premises as the staff showed us the easy way to our Hibiscus pool villa and explained all the luxury at our private disposal. 

We decided to have a small bite and a few drinks on the patio of the Maja restaurant to finish up travelling and get ready for a good nights sleep. The satay ajam was generous and delicious and the menu looked promising for dinner later during the week. Slept like babies and we woke up from a phone call; we had totally slept in and the restaurant staff called to ask if we maybe wanted to enjoy our breakfast in our villa (she apologised for the call and the service would be complimentary of course..). This put a smile on our face, skipped breakfast but instead headed out to explore the surroundings.

The rest of our stay was just perfect with time at the pool, the shuttle to the beach, strolling through the nearby shopping area and village, romantic dinner at the beach and we got great recommendations for other places to have dinners (like Bumbu Bali).

Prices for food and drinks at Armaterra may be a bit higher than what you can find locally, but the great news is that this also means that the place is not overly crowded with loud tourists or filled with screaming offspring… As such, for us a perfect stay for a romantic and relaxing getaway!

Perfect way to start our Bali vacation

Though I used to go regularly to Bali until 2019, I had never been to Nusa Dua before but this time I wanted a change of scenery. The Amarterra Villas Resort had everything I wished for: private villas with private pools in order to relax in my own "bubble". And it totally met my expectations. Quiet location, yet still near some nice restaurants and shops (Bali Collection, among others), beach just a few minutes away on foot (but they have a shuttle to drive you to the hotel private beach if you're too lazy to walk), nice villas in Balenese style with spacious outdoor space just for yourself, excellent and very helpful staff, delicious food in the hotel's restaurant with a very large selection for breakfast (among others - and it's suitable for vegetarians!!), great spa. 
I stayed 2 weeks at the Amarterra, which is quite long and unusual for guests in Bali, but I enjoyed every minute of it and could load my batteries in a very nice and peaceful environment before heading back to work.

I stayed here for my birthday for three nights. I loved how they welcomed me to the hotel, the entire staff was very friendly and accommodating, and the hotel was beautiful to take lots of pictures in! My room was beautiful and comfortable. I love the private pool and lounge area that the villa had. The offers I took advantage of was the in room private bbq and the flower pool decor. I chose the 1/2 lobster 1/2 seafood menu and let me tell you, IT WAS A LOT TO EAT and DELICIOUS! Every thing I ate was very tasteful, even the presentation. I was actually expecting them to just cook the food and then put the food on the table and leave, but it really was a catering experience. not only did they prepare the food, but they prepared the table, fixed my plate, my drinks, everything! they gave full hands on service the entire meal, and even talked and laughed with me the entire time! So that was great service! I also decided at the last minute to get a massage, but unfortunately, the spa was full, however, they asked me for an alternate location to do it in my villa and I was fine with that! You would have thought I would have been extremely hot having a massage outside, since it was hot outside and extremely humid, but I was actually ok! I didn't get to eat dinner there, but I did have breakfast and IT WAS GOOD! also a huge selection! I stayed at 4 different hotels during my stay in Bali and this one was definitely the best.

The hotel does offer a free 30min photo session by Dream Photo (I think that's the name). They will take photos of you and you can pick 1 for free. Be mindful that they will try to sell the other ones to you, and that's ok. I was amazed at how many beautiful photos I managed to get in 30mins and while sweating like crazy at 8am.

I don't have any real cons for this property. I didn't have any issues with anything, didn't have any issues with cleaning, the only thing I will say is to bring your own bug spray! they do supply some in the room, but someone like me who hates bugs, I can go through a can real quick! But that wasn't just something I only experienced at this hotel. I did at every hotel I stayed at, bugs are just going to be a thing here in Bali. And for every hotel that has a bit of "open door" concept, you will experience them more.

I would stay here again!

Beautiful resort that balances Balinese style with Marriott features.  The food was  fantastic and the staff were professional and helpful.  We wanted to stay in the deluxe 1 br villa however there were none available.  We were surprised then to see how nice the standard 1br pool villa was.  They have their beach club also which is a short shuttle ride away and you have access to the beach.

There was noise coming from construction around the main pool and when we mentioned this to reception, they went out of their way to make it ok for us.  Complimentary dinner plus other things including a bunch of flowers for my wife.  It was really handled very professionally.

Balinese welcome meets Marriott professionalism

The Chandra Suriya Gate is a stunning entryway into the guest villa area. Manicured pathways illuminated my walk to our villa. It is a luxurious resort with a staff that pampered our senses. The gardens throughout the resort deserve high honors as the design and care behind them are stunning. Thank you
to the friendly staff for making our stay feel like home.
