Mercure Bali Harvestland Kuta

I selected this particular hotel during my recent holiday in Bali during last Christmas due to its location. Moreover, I have been staying in this hotel several times in the past and they never fail in taking care of me.

We arrived in the hotel slightly after 6:00 am and proceeded with early check-in. Check-in process was supposed to be prompt and easy but it turned out it didn't go as expected due to lousy work done by one their male staffs. He told me my room was not ready but it would be ready in 15 minutes but even after waiting for more than 25 minutes, we didn't hear any news from him.

This guy confirmed our room as soon as I approached the front desk counter. He said he couldn't find me (just a lame excuse as I was sitting in the sofa next to the front desk counter). To make thing worse, the same guy charged me twice for the room I already paid without double checking my file. When I inquired about this, he said he would double check my payment with the office. It turned out that I had paid for the room so that the hotel had to refund me the payment.

I went to our suite room in 2nd floor (Room 201). We had stayed in the same room in few occasions in the past. The room condition was still acceptable although we could see more wear and tear in the furniture from previous guests who stay there. During our 5 nights' stay, everything was okay but we noticed the presence of strong odor from the bathroom every day and the housekeeping did nothing about this. During our stay which took place during one of the busiest period, noise level in our room was still manageable although we could hear some children were shouting and/or screaming from the hallway due to thin door.

Breakfast in the morning was okay. Breakfast spread was okay and they are good enough to fill up our stomach in the morning before we started doing our activity. I personally believe they still have enough room to improve their food quality but the food quality in this particular hotel falls within the same standard of quality as other food find in other 3 stars' hotels in Bali.

For the above reason, I would comfortably provide a 3 stars' rating for this particular hotel. I believe this hotel is due for immediate renovation in the next 1~2 years if they want to keep up with the standard hotel quality set by Mercure.

The room is comfortable and fit for uninterruptible rest. Its staff is friendly & helpful. I personally recommend this hotel even for long stayers. Convenient stores are nearby but choices of restaurant is limited.

We always like a hotel in between Kuta and the airport for our last few days. Our stay here was very enjoyable, we had a very good breakfast every day, the pool was excellent, the room was fine and above all, the staff were very friendly and helpful. A particular mention has to go to Danny the manager who went out of his way. The location on the west side of the bypass is a little inconvenient, but taxis are cheap and the security guy will help you cross the road. All in all a good value stay.
