Mamaka By Ovolo

I originally booked five nights at Mamaka and ended up staying thirteen across three self-funded bookings. That probably tells you how much I loved it. Overall, an easy 5/5.

My favorite room was the Kokomo Queen. The cozy décor, comfortable bed, and couch made it feel like home, with plenty of storage for my clothing and suitcases. Housekeeping was consistently excellent, tea and filtered water were replenished, and I had reliable hot water.

I tried a Bali High Queen for one night but preferred the Kokomo. The Bali High had a slightly damp smell to me, although it wasn’t dirty. My fourth-floor Kokomo was the winner: quiet, cozy, and I could see the beach from my window. I heard some rooftop noise during my earlier fifth-floor stay, so I would request the fourth floor again.

The location was fantastic. Kuta Beach was directly across the street, and I felt comfortable staying solo and walking around at night. I ran along the beach and nearby sidewalks, with food and convenience stores close by.

If an extras-inclusive package is available, compare it carefully. My later booking added breakfast, meal vouchers, a daily two-hour rooftop drinks window, a back massage, and a surf lesson. Those experiences made the stay especially worthwhile.

Breakfast included a main dish and two drinks. I repeatedly ordered the crab omelet and loved the smoothie bowl, too. Breakfast ended at 10 during my stay. The rooftop drinks came from a selected menu; they weren’t particularly strong, but it was a lovely way to enjoy the views and meet people.

My first-ever surf lesson with Rey was a highlight. I happened to be the only student, and he patiently taught to my complete-beginner level. Equipment was provided, he helped settle my nerves, and I stood up on the board multiple times.

I also used the compact but well-equipped gym, enjoyed rooftop yoga, took Muay Thai, and used the sauna. The included upper-back massage was enjoyable. There was enough here to happily spend a day without leaving the hotel.

The staff made it personal. Riski, also known as Ramon, patiently helped with my luggage through several room changes. Shinta at reception gave me a keychain with my name burned into it. Both still recognize me when I return for the gym. Thank you also to Aditya for the excellent housekeeping.

I worked from the hotel as well. Wi-Fi seemed slower some evenings, although my VPN may have contributed.

I would absolutely return. My advice: choose the Kokomo Queen, request a fourth-floor room, and leave time to enjoy the experiences.

The rooms are clean and well-maintained, the food is great, and the atmosphere is lively and fun. There’s live music in the evenings, and the beach is just across the road. The hotel is also very family-friendly, with lots of families and children.

We especially loved the terrace and its beautiful views, particularly the stunning sunsets! 🌅

Everything was great, and we truly enjoyed our stay. We would definitely recommend Mamaka Hotel and would happily come back again!

My Garden View room was beautiful, modern, clean, and very comfortable. I felt at home from the very first day.

The entire hotel has such a great atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help. The service was excellent throughout my stay.

The location is perfect, and the hotel has everything you need for a relaxing and unforgettable holiday in Bali.
