The Yucatan Peninsula or the Caribbean Coast as it is also known, with its vast, untouched expanses of soft white sand is undoubtedly Mexico's most spectacular region and home to some of its finest hotels. Aside from its beaches, Mexico is a cocktail of rich and fascinating history, spectacular scenery and tropical rainforests.

Pack lightweight, breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, and a hat for sun protection. If you plan to visit high-altitude regions or northern areas, bring some warmer layers. Sunscreen and insect repellent are also essential.

Mexican cuisine is diverse, vibrant, and rich in flavours, offering a wide variety of dishes that reflect the country’s indigenous and Spanish influences. Traditional Mexican food is known for its use of fresh ingredients like corn, beans, chilies, and tomatoes, along with a mix of herbs and spices. Famous Mexican dishes include:

Tacos: Soft corn tortillas filled with meats, seafood, or vegetables, often topped with salsa, onions, and cilantro.

Enchiladas: Corn tortillas rolled around fillings (usually meat or cheese), covered in a chilli sauce, and baked.

Quesadillas: Grilled tortillas filled with cheese and other ingredients like mushrooms or meat.

The currency of Mexico is the Mexican Peso, abbreviated as MXN or shown as MX$. The peso is subdivided into 100 centavos.

The best time to visit Mexico depends on what you're looking for in your trip.

From December to February the weather is slightly cooler and great for sightseeing in central and southern regions like Mexico City, Oaxaca, and Yucatán, without being too hot. It's also peak tourist season during Christmas and New Year holidays.

From May to September the weather can be hot and humid, particularly on the coasts, with rains in the afternoon. However, it’s a great time to visit if you want to avoid large crowds and don't mind occasional showers. Also, this is the time for lush green landscapes and lower travel costs.

From October to November is a wonderful time time to visit for cultural festivals, especially for the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), celebrated from October 31 to November 2.

The official language of Mexico is Spanish and is spoken by the vast majority of the population.
