We had a wonderful stay. Jorge was extremely welcoming during our stay with anything we needed by the pool side. Even with things we didn’t know we needed he was there. Every detail was thought out to a tea. Would highly recommend.
Karen, Ruben, Mercedes, and Enrique were fabulous at the rooftop pool!!! Xcaret Arte is absolutely incredible and worth every penny. Would recommend 10/10
Warning: Plan everything ahead of time or else’s you will spend the whole vacation being denied from every activity, most restaurants, and waiting in lines and going back and forth to the front desk for many reasons. It’s a long walk and long wait each time. I’ve been to other resorts where I wasn’t dealing with these headaches at all so I do blame them even though I should have planned better. Also we did get very sick for 2 weeks after :)
Spent six nights at the Xcaret Arte in August with my family (two adults, two older teenage boys). We will not be returning.
The hotel was over $1,200 per night per room. Not cheap, even with the "all-inclusive." As such, we rightly had high expectations for the property. The property itself is beautiful- lots of clever sculptures and nice details throughout. The room was also very nice (if a little small). The food was also fine -not great but totally serviceable.
The hotel failed to deliver on a luxury experience. First and worst, the transportation to and from the hotel to activities was not great. Slow. Crowded. Lots of stops. From the hotel to Xplora is a five-minute drive. On the bus, it takes more than 30 minutes. Not okay. On checkout, we asked what time the bus left for Cancun airport and were told 10:45 and that it would not make any stops. We planned accordingly. After we were loaded onto the bus, we were told it wouldn't leave until 11:15 and would make two stops. We got off the bus and paid $100 to take a taxi to the airport. The transportation manager blamed the butler who provided us with the information; the butler blamed the transportation office. Second, there were lots of stupid rules that made the place less fun. I went up to watch the sunset on the rooftop deck (accessible 24/7). I got up there and was told the bar closes at 7pm. I said no problem because I just wanted to sit and watch the sunset - no need for a drink. They told me, "No." Bizarre. My kids would paddleboard in the lagoon and when they fell off and started swimming (with lifejackets on) someone yelled at them no swimming and followed them back to turn in the paddleboard. Finally, the timeshare pitching was super annoying. We didn't go to the pitch, but it took like 15 messages to them before they finally took no for an answer. And when I went to checkout, another timeshare saleswoman ambushed me. Very annoying.
On the positive side, the art, pottery, and engraving classes were all excellent and really well done. But booking them was both hard and fraught with inaccuracies - we were told the art classes were not operating on the weekend by the butler service, but the studio said they were no problem.
Overall, luxury pricing for a mass-travel experience.
Diseño rooftop is my absolute favorite rooftop pool! In my three years of coming to Hotel Xcaret Arte, I feel as if i haven’t discovered as much as I can because I’m always drawn back here. Karen, Ruben, Enrique, Jesica, Mercedes, Jazmin & Melisa made this trip for my family and I special. It feels like you’re with family when you’re up here, the food is my favorite in the entire hotel and don’t sleep on the DJ!! Thank you everyone from Diseño rooftop, I can’t wait to be back!!
