The Best Honeymoon
We visited Secrets Akumal for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. The property is gorgeous. The atmosphere is peaceful, but not boring. The staff was amazing, always asking if we needed anything. The Entertainment Staff, especially Ari, Carlos, and Oscar were so friendly and engaging. The food and drinks were great, and there was a good variety of restaurants to choose from. We would definitely recommend Secrets Akumal!
The best resort for couples!
We absolutely loved our recent stay here! It was perfect for us.
Endless food options, fun atmosphere and romantic dinners, absolutely loved the grounds with so much plants, and live music. We will definitely want to come back. We felt so pampered by the staff.

Honeymoon at akumal
We went to secrets Akumal for our honeymoon and had a great time! The resort is beautiful, the staff are so accommodating and the food is amazing (each restaurant feels like an experience). The pools are beautiful and the entire resort feels very luxurious. However, we did have a few issues. Firstly we are a couple in our early 20s and we did feel as though we were treated differently and with a different level of respect for being younger, in comparison to some older couples in the resort- particularly by pool side staff and restaurant staff in the French restaurant. This made our experience feel a bit negative. Furthermore, the trucks that dump the sargassum away from the sea dumped it in a pit outside of our room which was very noisy in the morning and did cause a pretty persistent smell. There was one worker José who worked down by the pool who we felt could have been a bit politer to us at times as he interacted much friendlier to other guests. In saying all of this, we did have a great time and our concierge Alexandra was amazing as well as hector who works by the pool and Alan did a great job at organising fun pool activities.
No compassion
I’ve never been so disappointed in a resort. We had a trip planned to Secrets Akumal and were looking forward to it, but my father‑in‑law is now in the hospital at end of life. When we reached out, Secrets showed zero compassion — no refund, no credit, not even a gesture of understanding. Life happens, and good companies know how to treat people during difficult moments. Secrets and Hyatt clearly do not. We were planning on taking the trip later, but not now.
Amazing honeymoon experience
Just finished our honeymoon.
The service was incredible. Shout outs to Marlon, our building concierge (building 8) Antonio, the concierge for the quiet pool Eric and Alan who took us on the bike tour (one of the highlights of the trip and the best activity on resort that we experienced) Anthony and Melina who did the archery lesson (we did it 2x while we were there because we enjoyed it so much)
Everyone went above and beyond to make us feel special and taken care of. The resort grounds were beautiful.
