Our butler Gonzo was spectacular, he made our stay amazing with his service . Gonzo went above and beyond for our family. Also our server Rafa was wonderful as well !
Mexican people lovely, hotel very clean and tropical feeling.
Beautiful grounds with a wide range of well maintained tropical plants and wildlife including Iguanas, crocodiles and birds. Rooms cleaned everyday and spacious. Huge resort with plenty of pools to visit including some adult only areas. The staff were all very friendly and mostly very sincere making you feel like they genuinely wanted to help you have a wonderful stay. The entertainment was on a weekly cycle so for our fortnight stay was a bit disappointing. The children’s main pool was great with the jump for the thrill seekers (our kids enjoyed it). Not much in terms of daily activities on offer just mainly water aerobics and bingo and I saw some of the animation crew trying to do quiz’s at the pool or the odd lawn game (also a couple of ping pong and pickle ball tables/courts) so our kids (teens) were a bit bored and so 2 weeks was too long but having travelled from UK we thought it was too far to only go for a week. We did a few day trips to temple, Cenote and catamaran which were fab. We didn’t realise that this was Mexicos hottest season therefore the resort was quieter than normal but that suited as we didn't have to queue for food and we could experience all the al le carte restaurants they had to offer which made the holiday feel more luxurious. The food on the whole was our main reason for choosing this resort and it was good quality with plenty of choice. The main lunch dining room was street style food and you could have it cooked to order which made it great! The coffee bar was great as you could get any type of coffee, chai, frappe and choice of cake, pastry. The beach at the moment is a total no go as it’s full of smelly seaweed which we knew at time of booking but made us realise how much we missed the sea as the pools were like getting a very warm bath so not as refreshing and after our day trip to beach made us realise how much we love the sea. You can only access the spa if you pay which about 70 dollars which was also disappointing as I would of appreciated access to the hydrotherapy pools. Tip jars everywhere so it’s just being aware to bring pesos everywhere. We did the timeshare thing to get a discount on a trip and wish we didn’t as it went over by an hour. We didn’t give it 5 stars as compared to the value for money we felt our holiday to Turkey offered more (entertainment and spa access (sauna/pools/steamrooms) and made to order fresh snacks. The Mexican folk are so lovely.

Extorted for money from hotel staff!
This hotel extorted me for $463.87 during checkout ! My family and I stayed for four nights and during checkout the front desk staff informed me I owed them $463.87 for soiled linens- they accused me of putting human waste on the linens (not making this up) no proof because this did not happen. Unable to leave because hotel security would not lift the gate allowing me to leave. Refused to put me in contact with someone in management. I paid the fee in order to leave. Literal extortion. This is not the first time something like this happened at this resort in learning, read other reviews. This will not happen to everyone but these shady practices by the resort is something that they will do. Don’t take a chance, stay somewhere with better business practices.

Couples trip
We had such a great time at Ventus at Marina El Cid! One of our favourite things about staying here was having access to all three resorts. It gave us so many options for pools, restaurants, bars, and just different areas to explore throughout our stay.
We especially LOVED the Wave Bar and Marcos! We visited him almost every day we were there. He was amazing, so friendly, and definitely one of the highlights of our trip.
Before coming, we saw quite a few reviews saying the food was bad, but honestly, we completely disagree. We really enjoyed the food and drinks and were more than content with the options available. Of course some flavours and dishes may be different from what you're used to—you’re in a different country, but we had no complaints and always found something we liked.
The only real downside was the seaweed and the smell near the beach, but obviously that is completely out of the resort’s control. There were so many pools between the three resorts that we honestly didn’t feel like we were missing out too much because of the beach conditions.
The one area I really think could be improved is the entertainment. I wish there was more going on throughout the day, especially around the pools. But the ABSOLUTE shocker for us was finding out there was basically no nighttime entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights?! Those are the nights you would expect the resort to be the most lively. The resort club was completely dead, and a lot of guests were clearly disappointed. We actually saw visitors getting upset with the staff about it, which was unfortunate because it obviously wasn’t the staff’s fault. The employees were doing their jobs. the entertainment schedule is something management should really reconsider.
Overall, though, we had an amazing vacation and would definitely recommend Ventus at Marina El Cid. Between the three resorts, great pools, good food and drinks, and wonderful staff like Marcos at the Wave Bar, we had a really enjoyable stay. More daytime and weekend nighttime entertainment would honestly take this resort to another level!

Amazing week
My family and I returned to Ventus once again for another amazing week. There were 21 of us this time, and we enjoyed all the great restaurants, pools and of course accommodations. The grandkids loved the rock jump and the many species of wildlife throughout the resort. It’s always heartbreaking to leave, but knowing we will return again takes a bit of the pain away.
