This resort has it all. Amazing facilities. Waterparks are class. Beautiful pools with good atmosphere. Foam parties, aqua aerobics, games and volleyball to name a few activities. Spotlessly clean . Always managed to get a sunbed . Our server at the pool was so efficient ,friendly and enthusiastic. Thank you Sandy . The entertainment at night was also very good. The Michael Jackson tribute was amazing and the silent disco was great fun. We found the food just ok. The food trucks were good but the constantly ran out of food early in the day. Example no chicken an hr after opening, no burritos some days. The pizza place was the same. We didn't like the buffet for dinner or lunch. Not enough variety for children. No nuggets at all just southern fried strips. No fries somedays. The restaurants were just ok. The meat was unreal though. Tender . The sides were hit and miss. The food overall was just meh. That's why I'm not giving this hotel full marks. The sports bar had a good menu. Service at times could be very slow and food could be lukewarm. The staff in the bar are ran off their feet working. Thank you to Hilda who was mainly our server. Hard worker! We were not diamond club but we didn't feel the need for it. Our room was in building 19 . Great location. Air-con was a blessing in the heat. Put a couple of $ in fridge and note and we got M&M's , chips, candy. We tipped using Peso just to add. Wifi throughout this hotel was excellent. The beach was terrible. We knew this before we booked though. The seaweed is disgusting and the smell😭. The hotel do their best to clean it up but unfortunately it's all along the coast and down to global warming. We heard lot's of reports of illness amongst guests and were worried. No one from our party was ill and we were with different families all the time at the pool etc and no one was sick! This resort is isolated so you can't just walk out and explore. That didn't bother us and we booked trips to Xplor and cenote and turtle swim. They were excellent. Overall this hotel has it all. Lively , fun and clean. Just a pity about the food in general. Bring any medicine you think you might nedd especially children's. Plenty of suncream, snacks for kids . The onsite shop is a rip off. Cashing in on people's needs. 15$ for takkis ,38$ for suncream. Extortionate. Resort should be ashamed charging these prices. Bring pool toys, float etc as they're a rip off too. If you're on a tour ask the guide to stop off at a store. We did and were able to get suncream for 15$ Big difference in price.
Our recent family holiday to Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun was nothing short of fantastic. There were 10 of us travelling together, and although we had some initial anxiety after reading a few negative reviews earlier in the year, I can honestly say we experienced none of those issues. From the moment we arrived, the hotel was immaculate and the staff were exceptional friendly, attentive, and always willing to go the extra mile. Check-in did take a little time, which might be improved if forms could be completed electronically in advance (this may already exist, but we weren’t aware of it). One feature we absolutely loved was the all-inclusive wristband doubling as your room key so convenient not having to carry cards around. Do note that replacements cost $150 if lost, so we took advice from a previous review and brought a little glue to secure ours, which worked perfectly and saved any extra charges. At checkout, all group members need to check out together as the bands are removed then. One of our group had a later flight and was given a card to continue using the facilities until 5pm, which worked out brilliantly. Our room (11314 was interconnecting) was perfect for us and had the most stunning beach and ocean views we’ve ever had. The rooms were spacious and well-equipped, with a beautiful bathroom featuring a walk-in shower, bath, twin sinks, and a separate enclosed toilet. There were plenty of plug sockets (UK travellers should bring adapters), plus USB ports by the bed. We also appreciated the 24-hour room service it was excellent. When we had a minor issue with a sink plug, we reported it via the hotel app and it was resolved within 30 minutes. The hotel App itself is fantastic it keeps you updated on activities, allows restaurant bookings, and lets you order room service. We had no trouble getting into à la carte restaurants, even as a large group. While we didn’t always sit together, it didn’t bother us. The food across the resort was incredible. The French restaurant was our standout favourite truly high-end dining. The Japanese restaurant was another highlight, with its fun and interactive show cooking experience. The Mexican restaurant was our least favourite, but only because we chose the family-style option rather than ordering individually (the dishes we saw looked amazing). The buffet exceeded expectations with endless choices omelettes, Mexican dishes, stir-fries, smoothies, desserts, fresh salads, pizzas, and more. It’s genuinely hard to understand how anyone couldn’t find something they enjoyed. The sports bar was perfect for more casual food. We were there during the World Cup and spent a lot of time at the Fan Fest on level 3 it was a brilliant atmosphere with themed food, drinks, and a great wee football pitch setup for kids. It’s completely free (despite some confusion from other guests as you can book some seats closer to screen if desired). The gym was well-equipped and air-conditioned, and we also enjoyed the paddle court best booked early or late due to the heat. The pools were excellent, especially the main pool bar where staff were lively, engaging, and even singing while serving. Poolside drink service was a great touch. We brought reusable straws and insulated cups, which I’d definitely recommend. The waterpark was a huge hit, fast, exciting slides (with appropriate restrictions), although one slide was closed during our stay. The lazy river was perfect for cooling off, though I’d suggest bringing your own float as availability can be limited. On-site shops are quite expensive, so pack essentials like sunscreen and snacks in advance. Food options around the resort were great too we loved the Mexican food truck and the pizzeria at the waterpark. We also really liked that the Italian restaurant was available as a walk-in at lunchtime, which was ideal for a more relaxed sit-down meal without needing a reservation, with particularly delicious (and spicy!) arrabbiata and great pizzas. Drinks were fantastic great cocktails (the mango margarita was a new favourite), and even the house wine was lovely. The beach itself is beautiful with white sand, though the sargassum (seaweed) is noticeable. The hotel works incredibly hard to manage it daily, but it’s a natural issue. You mainly notice it on the beach or early morning on the balcony not from the pool areas. We also took a trip to Isla Mujeres, which was a highlight catamaran travel, beach time, a golf cart tour, and a visit to the town. It was a fantastic day, though we could’ve used more time there. If I had one suggestion, it would be for the hotel to offer a shuttle service to Playa del Carmen or Cancun. Taxi fares are quite high, and a reasonably priced hotel service would be a great addition. Evening entertainment was excellent, with high-quality shows, a popular karaoke bar (which could run later), and a brilliant silent disco that the whole family loved. Overall, we had the most amazing holiday. The resort, food, staff, and atmosphere exceeded expectations, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it, we already have! We even spoke to people at the airport who had changed their booking due to negative reviews, which is a real shame. We will definitely be returning
Absolutely the worst resort experience I have had in my entire life. From check-in, to the facilities/grounds, to the food, and then to the broken/not working/not present room amenities. I would recommend a La Quinta or Holiday Inn, in crappy part of any town anywhere over this property. I am surprised Marriott Bonvoy is attached to something so poorly managed.
We had an amazing experience, there was so much for everyone to do. The staff was always friendly and helpful- We worked with Isaac and Pablo regularly helping us plan and coordinate diners, court times, and just having a quick question answered. They made the week stress free and fun!
Pro: the hotel is very nice and family friendly. The food is awesome and our room was so nice. All the staff were kind and helpful. They have a water park on the grounds that’s included good drinks nice pools loads of bars. Our room was always clean and ac was always cold. Wonderful hotel we would return
Con: This is not the hotels fault but the beach was not usable due to seaweed overflow and it smelled weird
