Located on prime beachfront property, this all-inclusive resort enjoys dazzling views of the Caribbean, a magnificent white-sand beach and crystal-clear waters surrounded by tropical foliage. Facilities include a 24-hour reception, currency exchange, lift, a hairdresser and an auditorium. Younger guests will love the children's playground and kids' club. Meals are served in the café, pub and there is a choice of bars and restaurants. There are also conference facilities, wireless Internet access, room service, a laundry service (for a fee) and a car park.
Guest are required to make advance reservations for the restaurants Sensai, Rittrato d´Italia and Villamarina.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
We recently stayed at Ocean Coral & Turquesa, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations.
The biggest disappointment was the overall service. It wasn't terrible, but it was consistently below what we've come to expect from an all-inclusive resort. On multiple occasions, we were told someone would bring fresh towels or bottled water to our room, but they never showed up. We also never saw our room attendant during our entire stay.
Our room had a musty smell from the moment we arrived, which made it feel less clean than it should have.
The beach was another major letdown. We understand that sargassum is a natural occurrence, but there appeared to be virtually no effort to remove it. The seaweed completely covered the beach during our stay, to the point where we couldn't even walk on the sand, much less enjoy the ocean. For a beachfront resort, that was incredibly disappointing.
Dining was frustrating. Restaurant reservations were supposed to open at 10:00 a.m., but even getting online right at 10:00, everything was already booked. On top of that, several restaurants were closed on alternating days, leaving even fewer options. The buffet was actually pretty good and usually had a different variety of food each day. Surprisingly, we often enjoyed the room service even more.
There were definitely some positives. Mike's Coffee was fantastic and became one of our favorite stops every day. The ice cream shop was also great. The pool bar staff was friendly, as were the bell staff whenever we needed assistance. The representative who helped us book our excursions was very helpful and pleasant.
Our kids really enjoyed the water park because it was never crowded. However, the slides were noticeably dirty and rough, and they ended up with several scrapes after going down them repeatedly.
One unexpected highlight was the wildlife. We saw several raccoons around the property throughout our stay. They seemed very accustomed to people and were interesting to watch from a distance.
We understand the resort is scheduled to close soon for renovations, and after staying here, it's clear those renovations are much needed. The property has a lot of potential, but it feels dated and in need of significant improvements.
Overall, while we found a few things to enjoy, the inconsistent service, lack of beach maintenance, restaurant reservation system, and condition of the rooms outweighed the positives. We travel to Mexico frequently, and there are simply too many excellent resorts to choose from. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.
Very amazing! Juan is great and was a wonderful time
It was the best fine dining experience I've ever had in a restaurant. The manager, Juan, was a wonderful and welcoming host who made the evening truly special by arranging a beautiful table for my wife's birthday celebration. The waiters were attentive, friendly, and highly efficient, always serving us with a smile. Our drinks, food, and desserts arrived incredibly quickly, and the service throughout the evening was exceptional. Thank you to everyone for making my wife's birthday so memorable. We will definitely be back!
We’re actually still here as I write this because I wanted to leave a review while everything is fresh.
Before we arrived, my wife spent a lot of time reading recent reviews and, if I’m honest, we were both a little apprehensive. Looking back now, we really needn’t have been.
From the moment we arrived, we’ve had a fantastic experience.
The biggest strength of this hotel is, without question, the people. Every single member of staff we’ve come across has been friendly, welcoming and genuinely happy to help. Whether it was reception, housekeeping, restaurant staff, bar staff, entertainment, gardeners or the lifeguards, everyone takes the time to smile, say hello and ask how you’re doing. It’s something we’ve commented on throughout the holiday and it creates such a welcoming atmosphere.
We stayed in a Privilege room, which included butler service. It was one of those little touches that made everything effortless, with restaurant reservations and a few requests quietly taken care of behind the scenes. We never had any issues getting into the restaurants, although I can’t comment on what the experience is like for guests who aren’t staying in that category.
A huge thank you to Ricardo by the Privilege pool. His service has genuinely been second to none. Friendly, attentive, professional and always one step ahead, he is an absolute credit to the hotel.
The food has been consistently excellent throughout our stay. Every restaurant we’ve visited has been very good, and our anniversary dinner was a lovely surprise that made our first wedding anniversary even more memorable. The service throughout every meal has been first class.
The entertainment team also deserve a huge amount of credit. There is a full programme of activities every day, including cycling trips into Puerto Morelos, foam parties, margarita-making, fitness sessions, pool games, fashion shows and evening entertainment. There is always something happening if you want to get involved, but equally no pressure if you’d rather relax.
A special mention to Alan from the entertainment team, who led the cycling trip into Puerto Morelos. He was friendly, informative and made the whole experience great fun. It ended up being one of the highlights of our stay.
The pools are excellent, the bars are well staffed and the drink service has been consistently quick and friendly.
The only downside has been the sargassum on the beach, but that’s simply nature. We visited Barbados last year and saw a little sargassum there too, but nothing on the scale we’re seeing here. It’s affecting much of this coastline and is completely outside the hotel’s control, so it wouldn’t be fair to judge the resort because of it.
It’s also nice to see the hotel continuing to invest in itself. There are refurbishment works taking place and further improvements planned, but they’ve had no impact whatsoever on our holiday.
Overall, we’ve had an amazing stay. Great food, excellent entertainment, lovely facilities and, above all, customer service that has been consistently outstanding.
Thank you to everyone at Ocean Coral & Turquesa for making our first wedding anniversary so special. We’d happily return without hesitation and would thoroughly recommend staying here.
Great food and service. Juan was amazing and a credit to the restaurant. Best meal I’ve had for some time
