I don’t know what was worse, the cockroach on the toilet paper or the customer service.
I understand this is a cheap place to stay and I know that you get what you pay for but you don’t even get that.
The workers behind the reception were nothing but rude and extremely unhelpful. They made every interaction unnecessarily hard and unpleasant. The rooms it self is dusty and the sheets even after being changed had stains on them. The bathroom was fine other than the small cockroaches that clearly also lived there.
The pictures on the website are a lie, the pool and outside area are all under construction which starts early in the morning so don’t expect to sleep in.
When the drilling from downstairs stops you will then start hearing a man scream, typically in the evening. And I don’t mean yelling or raising his voice, I mean screaming for his life. This was an every evening occurrence so I dread to think what was going on in his room.
In conclusion do anything but go here unless you want to spend your whole stay disgusted and disappointed.
Robbed in our room. All our money and valuables taken. (Almost $3000.00!!!!) Our room door was easily unlocked by putting any key in between door at the lock area. 5 seconds and you’re in our room.
Next night a random beer was at our safe area. Definitely not ours, so it seemed like a nightly thing when we would leave to go for dinner. Reported and showed them how easy it was to access our room and they didn’t fix. Every morning I requested it to be repaired and it was never looked at. I have a video of how easy our room was accessible, but can’t post videos here. Our patio door could also be breached easily as when it was locked, it had a 2cm gap.
We did not feel safe in our room. But seeing as all our money and valuables were taken (almost $3000.00 worth!) we had nothing left to steel.
And we were left at the hotel for 4 more nights penny less.
I recommend not to take any valuables to this resort.
In saying that, the room was good and the resort location was excellent, pool and reception area were also nice! . But the 2 robberies kinda put a damper on our trip. They took everything except our passports, (thank god!)
There was a video camera in front of our door, so they know who robbed us, but no follow up after robbery.
I would have felt better if they had fixed our door when requested. But even after showing the front desk the video of me using a random key to access our room, it was never fixed. Every morning I would be at the front desk showing them the video and politely requesting repair. The reception staff never seemed alarmed when I showed them the video. So we felt very vulnerable when we left our room every day.
We went with an other couples, most of their door were fine, but one other one had the same issue. I would assume it’s a common issue. And since we were only gone the night of the robbery for 3hrs (dinner), we assumed someone watched us leave, and then robbed us.
No response from the hotel.
If these events didn’t occur, my review would be completely different.
Room is not secure at all, neither door locks securely. When we were robbed while out to dinner, staff and security seemed annoyed to have to fill out a report. No follow up, no action taken when we pointed out that you didn’t need the bracelet key to enter the room. No apology that this occurred, no empathy given at all. Cleaning staff waits until you leave the complex to clean the room every time. Do not trust any staff with the security of your belongings, if you are not present, your money and belongings are not safe. There is no sports bar, pool table or weight room as advertised. Rails around patios are all rusting out. Crappy buffet across the street is not worth paying for. Best I can say is at least the thief brought back my hair pick and left a random beer the next time they came in. Would not recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a worry free vacation.
AVOID THIS HOTEL LIKE THE PLAGUE! Unfortunately we have been in this hotel for 13 nights (10 because the last 3 nights we found another hotel) This hotel is dangerous, old, dirty and noisy. The most serious thing is that one of their employees has stolen our headphones and some coins from my jacket inside the room. The manager and the chief of the security did a fake “investigation” and showed us the report of the door key entrance in which resulted that only us entered our room. Problem was they cancelled the wrong one, instead of cancelling the entrance of the thief they cancelled our one, so we could prove that someone came in, as in that exact time shown on the report we had the bank transaction of a purchase we did as we were shopping around. At that point we were 100% sure that someone had stolen the headphones and that the management was covering him/her. They were quite annoyed and their answer was “go to the police” needless to say that I came back without my headphones. We asked twice to have the security key (that you supposed to have at the beginning) but for both times they said that there was no security key available, very suspicious. Inside the room you don’t have any kind of equipment (no fridge no coffee maker no cups no nothing) the water from the sink and the shower have a very weird taste (don’t use even to wash your teeth) any everything looks rusty and old. Our room was at the 4th floor (obviously there’s no lift) so if you have problems with Mobility this will be a big problem for you. Lastly, they do false advertising as they promote their hotel having a gym and a beach club, but nothing of this is true. There is no gym, there is no beach club. During the night you can hear any kind of noise inside and outside the room (boiler, screams, music, alarms). The breakfast was average, nothing amazing but at least the employees from the restaurant were nice. Me and my girlfriend felt so uncomfortable and ignored from everyone in this hotel that the last 3 nights we opted to stay in another hotel (obviously without any refund) and our holiday changed in positive. This hotel doesn’t know anything about the word “hospitality” and is a shame because in any other place we visited in Mexico we felt comfortable like at home. I hope this review reach as many people as possible, from the bottom of my heart, make a favour to yourself, don’t go to the Tukan hotel.
Well, despite the other reviews I’m giving it a 4 star. Here’s why; It’s very inexpensive, so what’s the expectation. Amenities, it had a phone, tv, heat pump. It’s bare bones. However, everything worked as it should. It’s clean. A couple hundred peso as a tip and it gets cleaner. The box on the patio, as mentioned in another review, is your heat pump. If you don’t want it blowing on you as you sit outside, then turn it off. The sliding door, if it doesn’t latch perfect the way you like it, then lay a stick in the bottom. The water is a mineral water that does come out of the taps in Mexico. Is what it is. Towels, sheets, linens. All clean. And the noise, bring some ear plugs, your right on 5th Ave and the action doesn’t stop. I was so tired being out all day I slept right through it. And there is a tourist tax collected at check in. Everywhere. I think it was 60 peso a night. Or $5 Canadian. We didn’t use anything else at the hotel, we just ate at all the different restaurants literally everywhere. Didn’t need a fridge, just cross the street and buy single beers, they’ll even open them for you. Front desk is friendly and accommodating. As far as security, Don’t bring valuables to any downtown hotel anywhere. Just dont. We felt safe regardless and no one meddled with our things. Don’t go in there expecting the world. It’s a great deal for what it is. We are already looking to go back. So much to do around there.
