Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
Great location with direct access to 5th avenue, and less that 5min from the beach. The neach is sandy and clean. Beach clubs nearby. The rooms are spacious, well decorated. Staff are friendly and professional. The only downside is the noise of the nearby restaurants in the evening. Not good if you want an early night but ok if you are out yourself!
We have traveled to Playa del Carmen several times but this is our first time booking here. We are Hilton diamond members and have had great experiences at the tapestry collection hotels so were excited to stay here in the heart of the city. Unfortunately we had a very unpleasant experience.
Firstly the staff was not communicative. We had rented a car and know parking could be a challenge so enquired in advance as to where to park. We were told someone would direct us upon arrival. When we arrived it was not clear at all where to park, no one was available to direct us and we had to drive around the block multiple times before finding the entrance.
Secondly we were at no point throughout the booking or check in process informed that the hotel had no power! We only discovered this once we had gotten to our room after paying to find the lights would not turn on. Upon inquiry we were told the power was out in the whole area and should be on within the hour. We decided to go for a walk and discovered that all surrounding businesses did have power. Another guest informed us that the hotel had in fact been without power for 3 days! It is completely unacceptable that they were still taking reservations and not informing guests of the issue. My husband uses a medical device and requires power. Upon learning this we immediately checked out and requested a full refund.
Lastly our toilet had a slow leak and constantly ran. The bathroom floor was wet. I’m unsure if this was due to the leak or if the floor hadn’t dried fully after being cleaned but it was wet throughout the time we were there.
I am extremely shocked to have had such an experience at a Hilton and I will not be back to this hotel.
The staff is friendly and always kind and helpful
Nice place, great location. Rooftop is amazing for chilling. Breakfast was huge and I got a lot of veggies! Front desk very helpful. The one downside I'd say is that at night there is a lot of loud music all around and I'd prefer a quieter more restful evening. The area of Playa is very safe for even a solo female walking in the evening. Everyone is friendly and helpful. The other problem was that I had a fair bit of work to do here and the internet could not support a zoom call. Even the wifi for a phone call was unstable. This was problematic and surprising since this is Hilton. I asked at the desk and the man said he had not heard of any problems. The place is very clean and comfortable, though the bedding is pretty heavy for summer weather. The room was very spacious. I asked to be put in the quietest area and they upgraded me to a corner room without an extra charge. I was on the back of the hotel off of Quinta so it was better. When you are not in your room you are basically outdoors, so be ready for that. Weather is excellent, though, and the breeze off the water is great all the time. I booked with points combined with money so the value was excellent.
I spent a night there on 24 April, as I frequently do en route to a nearby resort, and was surprised that I couldn’t add another night. Their booking system shows that it can’t be reserved for the next five months or so but all the employees seem to think it was shutting down and didn’t think they would be coming back. I am hoping they’re just renovating, but the place is already pretty nice so seems like it could be the end, at least as a Hilton property. It’s a shame as it has been a super comfortable, convenient, and reasonable option in town for me and many friends in recent years.
