Guests will also enjoy in-room amenities such as free wireless internet access and cable TV. The area around the Posada Mariposa Hotel is filled with activities and attractions to explore. Direct payment reservations will be debited in the local currency, at the current exchange rate.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
I recently stayed at the Mariposa, a charming little place. However, the customer service was disappointing upon my arrival. Ana, one of the staff members, is personable but not suited for dealing with the public. She was quite rude, seemingly unaware of how her behavior affects guests. It felt more like being under supervision at a strict relative’s house than staying at a hotel.
The prices are reasonable for a hotel on Fifth Avenue, but the poor service negates this benefit. I don't think I would stay there again, nor would I recommend it to anyone if Ana is still employed there.
It wasnt what I expected, the furniture is old and the breakfast is a cupon to have a free cofe in the bar at the corner. And because the bar opens at 7.30 and the excursions start a 7 you lose the breakfast and they dont give you anything to compensate. (Something that i wasnt warned when I did the check it so i had to wander around for a shop to buy some water and something to snack)
Wonderful location. The music outside was very loud but the room was completely soundproof from outside noise. Breakfast was at a restaurant next door and was very good yet basic. The staff was very friendly. We stayed in the Suite Emperador, which looked much better in the photos. The water was lukewarm. You had to run the faucet about 20 minutes before showering, and then it would be very warm at the most, and the water pressure was very bad. I complained to the staff since showering was not pleasant. The sink counter was very bad. The paint was peeling. There was a closet with hangers but it was in the corner of the room and very dark and difficult to see. The door only opened at a 90-degree angle, making it darker. Actually, there were a lot of lamps but just for the atmosphere - not for seeing. One big problem is that there was NO dresser. Clothes had to be piled up on the table or kept in a suitcase. I felt like I was camping. The TV was in the corner and could not be watched from the bed or any other area of the room. See photos. Coffee machine, but no coffee. No bath amenities you usually get, but that didn't matter to us. I would have really liked a tissue box - we asked, but they didn't have any. Guests are NOT permitted. I had friends staying at another location, but I could not show them how bad the room was. I didn't know that when booking the room.
Excellent location on Fifth Avenue and close to ADO coach station, beach and ferries all within walking distance. Right in the heart of everything which was quite amazing. Breakfast included in a very pleasant restaurant few doors away which included the basics but anything extra at a cost. Room had a big bed with small fridge and coffee maker. A nice vibe to hotel with plenty of greenery. On checkout the staff member-Sau Cruz think think his name- was very helpful and said we could come back anytime for any help with tours or taxis as we were staying for a few more days in the area. Overall, thought it was very good value for the money which included breakfast.
They do ask for a deposit and little confusion how it would be returned but no problem in any refund. Our room had a window but next to a staircase so little privacy in curtains opened and made the room bit dark. But not a major issue.
Location was great right on 5th. Ana and Saul were amazing providing us with tips on using Colectivo’s, taxis, places to visited, etc and helped us practice Spanish with them. The cleaning staff did a great job keeping the room clean as well. We had the Emperador room for two weeks with the rooftop patio and jacuzzi tub. We ended up using it more like a plunge pool to cool off during the day rather than as a jacuzzi in the evening as the water did not get hot enough in the jacuzzi. The water in the shower though did get very hot which was great. The room was very clean and spacious, our only complaint was that the bed is extremely hard. We had a very hard time sleeping comfortably because of it. The hotel is very quiet despite being right on 5th and we were very happy with the continental breakfast that is included at the restaurant nearby. All in all a great stay, but they need to do something about the mattress on the bed.
