Location was amazing close to 5th Avenue which was great for shopping. The best part was the staff , they were all amazing and wonderful front the severs, the bellboys, the maintenance crew who always greeted you with a good morning, just too many people to name) but will give specific shout out to a few who made our experience even more special . Juan Bollaňos (can’t thank you enough) at the reception, Francisco at the agave bar, Black Chocolate David, Papasito Carlos and White Chocolate David. You guys are the best! Muchas Gracias.
The atmosphere was beautiful. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The only downside was the smell of sea weed. But spending the majority of the time tanning at the beach, there was no odor and the water was pretty clean near the shore.
Overall if it was good experience. Few hiccups. Mexican restaurant on the property got us sick, but the buffet, grill and sushi were amazing. Rooms were nice and location is great. Ocean view is nice but you can’t swim in the ocean off the hotel, it’s all rocks and I actually got hurt. front desk does not answer unless you call them multiple times. had to call down multiple times to request hangers. The website states there’s a mini bar and bath robes, you have to request the bathrobes. And the “ mini bar” is 2 beers in the fridge. That’s it. The website made it seem like it’s fully stocked with different kinds of viewers and shooters, but no, it’s two beers, pop and a few waters. The concierge’s service women where you make reservations for dinner, she lied to us and said she made a 730 dinner reservation at the Italian restaurant for our anniversary but in reality she did not. We got to the restaurant and they said we had no reservation and had to sit outside which wasn’t an issue but was embarrassing, especially on our anniversary. So triple check to make sure u actually have your reservation set. We booked an excursion for ATV, zip line and cenote and that was amazing and fairly priced. Included travel and lunch. Highly recommend! Elevators did not work the whole time we were there and our room was on the third floor. We talked with guests who were there the week before us and they haven’t been working for a while it seemed. Hotel entertainment was not exciting. They didn’t have much set up before of the World Cup. Pool needs to be cleaned better. The walls of the pool had grim on them and ruined one of my bathing suits. Photographers on site, Alex and Eduardo were amazing and captured beautiful pictures of my boyfriend and I. Fairly priced pictures and we got to bring home beautiful memories. They printed us out pictures (3 for free), provided a link to your phone and give you a flash drive. Overall things were good but if you plan to go somewhere for romance, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
We stayed at the Wyndham Alltra Playa Del Carmen for a little over a week and had a wonderful time! The staff were friendly, hard-working, and accommodating. I would recommend this resort to anyone as long has they have realistic expectations based on reviews like this one. I'll first address the beach/seaweed situation. There is only a small section of the beach at the end of the property that's useable because of erosion and the seaweed that accumulates. This small section has chairs and a beach bar, but is separate from the activities in the pool areas. If you are looking for a place to spend a lot of time on the beach, this is probably not a match for you. However, if you enjoy hanging by the pool, and occasionally going to this beach area for a little peace and relaxation, this place will work for you like it did for us. Yes, there is a lot of seaweed, and they do their best everyday to remove it with a big crew of workers. Yes it smells, but honestly, I only noticed it first thing in the morning when I came down and before the crew had completed their work. Otherwise, it wasn't an issue for me or my group. The entertainment staff were fantastic, and I will give a special shout out to them! David was very friendly and inviting and was constantly inventing fun ways to keep us engaged and occupied. Janika was fun and energetic, and Carlos had a great deadpan sense of humor. They included us in pool games, salsa making, drink making, music trivia, etc., and we really enjoyed their company and the other guests we met. The three of them are truly assets for your organization! The facility itself was stylish and well laid out. We had standard rooms that were awfully dark but sufficient for the value we got. The restaurants were good, but not all were open every night. With only three in the rotation for dinner (Italian, Mexican, Grill) there was limited variety, but they were all delicious! The sushi bar is a well-kept secret for lunch, located at the "quiet" pool on the street side of the property. This was a great break from the busy pool area if you're in the mood. Thanks to Sebastian, the bartender who had a new drink recipe for every occasion and always had a friendly smile! Finally, I must also give a special shout out to Jaime, who bartended and served drinks poolside. He hustled nonstop and anticipated our individual favorites, always keeping us well hydrated and happy! Thank you Jaime! The proximity to town is nice to go shopping or exploring for those who enjoy such an option. Overall, you will love this resort as long as the beach limitations aren't a deal breaker for you! The staff and service quality are exceptional!
This hotel has a great location walking distance from everything. We upgraded room at it was well worth it. Our room was cleaned everyday.
