I was surprised with a room upgrade that was huge, beautiful and overlooked a moving river. But the best part was the two full time butlers that came with the room!! The resort was poorly occupied this week because it is off season so I love how they utilized existing staff rather than cutting their hours.
When I asked how long staff had worked there, all of them had big smiles and talked about how lucky they were to be working for this company The Fairmont.
It isn’t easy to achieve this level of service and property perfection - believe me I know as I recently retired from my 44 year career in property management. My hats off to the management and all staff!

Fairmont Mayakoba
Alejandro is truly the reason we keep coming back to Fairmont Mayakoba!
I honestly can’t say enough wonderful things about him. He is hands down the best butler we’ve ever had, and he makes every stay feel so special. He is always thinking ahead, helping us plan our days, making things happen, and taking care of all the little details before we even have to ask.
What we appreciate most is how much thought he puts into making our trips special for our kids. He always finds ways to add those personal little touches that make them feel remembered and cared for. As parents, that means so much to us, and those are the things our family remembers long after the vacation is over.
At the end of the day, it’s the people who make you want to come back. And for our family, that person is Alejandro. He genuinely cares about making our time there wonderful, and you can feel it in everything he does.
We absolutely love Fairmont Mayakoba, but Alejandro is a huge part of why we keep returning. He has become such a special part of our family vacations, and we are so grateful for him. Fairmont is incredibly lucky to have him. He really is the best!

Fall getaway at the Fairmont Maykoba - we recommend!
We just got back from our four-day stay at the Fairmont Mayakoba, and we were impressed! Before this, we hadn’t stayed at a Fairmont property, but we had heard great things from friends and family. The main element that stood out to us was the service; everything was within arm’s reach, and the staff was eager to make our experience the best it could be. While the weather ended up being 50/50 (some very rainy moments), everything under the hotel’s control was top-notch.
FOOD & DRINKS We opted for the all-inclusive package, as we planned to spend the entirety of our stay on the property. If you are planning to do the same (and enjoy cocktails as much as we do), it is definitely worth it. The drinks run you $20 each, and the dinner bills can easily exceed $200. Since there are non-all-inclusive guests, I feel like this pushes the hotel to have high-quality food and drinks. All the meals were very good, but Tauro (steakhouse) was the best. Cielo (the rooftop bar) is stunning on a nice night, with a great view of the sunset. The coffee shop by the pool was surprisingly good, and the breakfast buffet was also solid. I would recommend sticking to the Mexican dishes and fruit, as they were better in my opinion. Room service was also seamless, and you only have to pay the service charge for someone to bring it to your room. Note: even if you are on the all-inclusive, you have to sign bills and choose whether to include gratuity. We consistently tipped because we enjoyed the service, but we didn’t feel pressured to do so.
PROPERTY QUALITY Everywhere on the property was well kept, and while this is the standard for resorts out here, this one felt especially nice. Occupancy seemed lower than in high season, but the resort felt fully staffed, so the service was even better than expected. Both the pool area and beach area were sizable and nice, with food and drinks always within arm’s reach. There were a lot of raccoons (white-nosed coatis, slightly different from the US ones), which comes with the territory and took a bit of getting used to, but thankfully they were nice and minded their own business.
AMENITIES We did a couples massage on one of the rainy days (for an additional charge on top of our all-inclusive package). To do massages in the same room, there is an additional $50 charge. Both masseuses were great and responsive to our requests. What stole the show was the spa amenities. The spa is separated by gender, and the men’s section was massive (and largely empty), with a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, showers, lounge areas, and more. There is also a co-ed space with a pool and jacuzzi, which we also enjoyed. It’s a good day option if the weather isn’t being kind.
