The Occidental Allegro Playacar All Inclusive is a great beach hotel, surround by lush tropical gardens and greenery, and is very conveniently located just in front of the beach, providing guests with magnificent views. Local beaches, renowned for their spectacular white sand and crystal clear waters are close by. Playa del Carmen town is also easily reachable, here guests will find a variety of leisure and shopping possibilities as well as restaurants and other interesting sites. The hotel provides a wide range of dining options, entertainment and leisure facilities in unlimited amounts.
Due to the surrounding area and the number of steps around the hotel, it may not be suitable for those with mobility difficulties.
The staff was so amazing and friendly. Management took care of our needs. We couldn’t ask for more! Wonderful trip!
All the staff at hotel were awesome. The waitstaff went above and beyond for us. They were amazing. The rooms were really small. I wish you could choose to have a beachfront room. The breakfast and lunch weren’t bad but the dinner was horrible. The only dinner that was good was the Italian restaurant and Italian night on the buffet. If you had young kids there it would be hard to find food they would eat. The beach was horrible. There was so much seaweed you couldn’t even go in the ocean. The resort was well kept. They had a Michael Jackson show that was awesome.
Great Resort. People are so friendly. Foofd was good and just an overall good experience!! Will be back .
I booked this hotel because I wanted to visit Playa del Carmen on the last day of my trip. Since we were coming from the Barceló and assumed this would be of the same standard and I thought it would be a good choice, but the hotel is far inferior. I requested a quiet room, yet they put me right next to the pool where the music was loud. I asked to switch rooms, but the experience was still very poor. The rooms are tiny, with the sink open to the sleeping area; the air conditioning didn't work well, there were lots of mosquitos inside the room, the phone didn't work for contacting reception, and there was a lot of noise from outside. But the worst part is that the hotel has a restaurant without air conditioning—it was impossible to eat in the unbearable heat, and the food quality was very poor. In short, I chose it for the all-inclusive dining, yet I couldn't actually eat there, dirty table clothes, dirty cups, dirty buffet. The staff were polite, but the hotel itself is definitely disappointing!!
This was my families first stay. There were 8 of us in 3 different rooms.
The Good: Rooms were clean, resort was well maintained, food was very good, service was good, staff was almost entirely positive and helpful, beach was a nice white sand, pools were small but functional.
The Bad: The rooms were extremely small. Double beds and 2 full beds. There was no couch, and no drawers for storing clothes. You will live out of your suitcase. The 2nd floor rooms had thatch roofing that didn't keep much noise out. Beds were very firm, borderline uncomfortable. Food options are limited- although each meal contained a wide selection and we enjoyed all of our meals. The main dining area for the evening meal was VERY hot. It had very little air movement, no AC. There was no area to congregate at all that was even slightly cooler. Being on the beach was much cooler than anywhere on the resort grounds due to the strong breeze. As soon as you enter the resort grounds the breeze seems to be almost completely blocked.
All in all, this resort did provide a good value for the money we spent. I was pleasantly surprised with everything but the room size, bed comfort, and lack of a space to hang out with a group that wasn't at the pool or beach.
